When the folks at Bestowed asked if I wanted to review the October box, I jumped at the
chance.  In case you aren’t familiar, Bestowed is a monthly subscription box that offers 5+ amazing nutrition and lifestyle products delivered to your door every month – each one hand picked by celebrity nutritionist and author Heather Bauer. It’s $19$20/month and delivers around the 15th of the month.

The Box

Bestowed ships via USPS Priority Mail and it took the promised two days to arrive.  I am really liking the changes USPS made to Priority Mail.  I do think my mail is coming more quickly.

First Look

My first look would have been much more exciting had I remove the information booklet first.  Hindsight is 20-20.

The Information Card

Bestowed doesn’t just do an information card. Oh no, they have a whole little information booklet.  October is non-GMO month and in honor of it, everything in this month’s box is 100% GMO free!  Here’s what was included:

~UNREAL Peanut Butter Cups: The Double Ones: Umm, stop it. These are amazing.  I used to pick them up at CVS every once in a while, but I had kind of forgotten about them until now.  They are GOOD (no really they are), but contain no junk – no hydrogenated oils, corn syrup, GMO’s, or artificial colors and flavors.  If you have never tried these before, I highly recommend it.

~enjoy Life Seed & Fruit Mix:  I’m usually not into mixes with dried fruit, but the chocolate chips in here won me over.  And I love that this is non-GMO and nut-free, so it’s even something I could send to school with L for a snack.

~FiberLove Cinnamon Raisin Bar:  B and I tried this in the car on the way to Chicago and decided that it tastes like Oatmeal cookies, which is exactly how it is described in the information book.  It’s good and I would totally buy more in different flavors.

~The Good Bean Smoky Chili & Lime Chickpea Snacks:  We tried these in the car too and we both agreed we weren’t fans.  They really did taste like smoky chili & lime chickpeas, but I thought they were too spicy and B just didn’t care for them.  Now in a different flavor I can see the attraction!

~Manitoba Harvest Hemp Pro 70 Plant Based Protein Supplement: We haven’t gotten a chance to try this yet, but it’s only a matter of time before B does.  It contains all 10 essential amino acids to offer more energy throughout the day.  And if you aren’t a huge fan of the flavor alone (it’s suppose to be quite mild though), you can mix it with your smoothie or sprinkle on your morning oatmeal!

~Nature’s Path Love Crunch Dark Chocolate Macaroon Granola:  This is not only yummy, but it’s a feel good purchase.  For every bag of Love Crunch purchased, Nature’s Patch donates the equivalent amount of food to a food bank across America.  They are also USDA certified organic and NON-GMO Project Verified.

~Ultima Replenisher: I’m going to give this to B after he gets back from his race today (this one is “only” 10 miles) so he still has some energy to do a little walking around.  To be honest, he could have used these last weekend after his marathon!

~Way Better Snacks Simply Beyond Black Bean Tortilla Chips: I’ve gotten these before and they are yummy and usually eat with salsa.  Bestowed also suggests trying with chicken salad or tuna salad or crumbling on top of a warm, low-sodium soup.

~Women’s Health Magazine (one year subscription): The October box also comes with a one year subscription to Women’s Health Magazine.  If you already get the magazine, there is also a rebate option available.

I didn’t do a cost breakdown for Bestowed, but the box itself is for sure worth the $19.  The magazine subscription alone is $16!  And right now (thru 11/20), you can save nearly  50% off your first box using the coupon code “HELLOTEN103“, which would make the box only $10!

If you are interested in ordering Bestowed, or just want to learn more, click here.  They also have an online shop containing most of the items from this month’s box, so if you just wanted to try a few (like the peanut butter cups) make sure to check it out!

Disclosure: This complimentary box was received for review purposes. As always, all opinions are my own and no compensation was received.  This post does, however, contain referral links!

If you like roasted chickpeas, they are ridiculously easy to make. You literally buy a can, rinse and drain them, toss them with a teeny bit of olive oil and add whatever seasonings you want. We do taco seasoning, chili lime or Cajun, and then just spread them out on a cookie sheet and pop them in the oven. They roast for about half an hour, and you shake them once halfway through. R eats them as a snack in his lunch during the week which I love because then he doesn’t eat chips. The chickpeas have a TON of protein and a great nutty flavor when roasted.

    Cheers,
    Shauna
