First Look

I loved this month’s first look!  I was quite glad that L wasn’t home when I opened it and took pictures of it all because I wanted to stash it away for stocking stuffers.

The Information Book

The December 2014 Loot Crate theme was “Anniversary” and celebrates the anniversaries of Tetris, which turns 30 this year and the Simpsons, which turns 25.  It also features some of Loot Crate‘s favorite comic book creators and their heroes who are celebrating milestones this year.  Here is what the box included:

~Captain America Air Freshener ($1): L’s room is superhero themed and he likes it to smell good (no, for real he does), so it’s a win!

~Dancing Groot Crew Socks (~$5): I think / hope B will wear these to work!  He actually tried to talk me into watching Guardians of the Galaxy the other day, but we ended up watching something else instead.  I’ll watch it the first time he wears them to work!

~Tetris Sticker Set (~$10): I don’t believe that L is even familiar with Tetris, but I totally am and I love these fun stickers.  And can you believe that Tetris has been around for30 years?  That’s just crazy!

~Ghostbusters Door Hanger / Pin / Crunchyroll Trial: This door hanger is double sided and can be switched based on your mood.  I remember thinking door hangers were really cool as a kid and hopefully L does too.  In addition to the Loot Crate pin, the box also included a coupon code for a 30 day trial of Crunchyroll which features anime and Asian drama.  Not really my thing, but if it’s yours this is great!

~Simpsons “Cast Mighty Wallet” ($15): I am always amazed by mighty wallets.  They are made from Tyvek and are super durable.  They are water resistant and the chances of you being able to rip one is super slim.  Probably none actually.

~Exclusive The Joker Batman-Batman POP! Vinyl Figure (~$15): This is a Loot Crate exclusive and I love it!  It’s the perfect stocking stuffer for L and will be great for his room. I know lots of people think the month’s with t-shirts are the best Loot Crate month’s, but I think the months with POP! figures are the best!

~Batman Comic Book Issue 36 (~$5): The cover art on this comic is exclusive to Loot Crate!  I will probably put this in L’s stocking as well.  I know people think leaving them sealed is important, but L will want to read it!

All totaled I came up with an estimated value of $51 for the December 2014 Loot Crate. I think this was my favorite Loot Crate ever!  There was a little something in this box for everyone and we will use everything in here.  Awesome month!

As a comic book person, who spends every Saturday at my local shop, I can tell you there is no reason to leave that book sealed, so he can read it if he wants. BUT! Endgame has been very dark, and is probably only appropriate for ages 12+. Maybe you or B should check it out first to see if it is OK for him?

That is good to know!!! I think I am going to gift the comic to my Reddit Secret Santa rematch. I think it’ll be perfect!

I really need to look into Loot Crate for N. I think he would love it. I’ve not seen Guardians either but is getting if for Christmas so I’m sure we will watch it soon enough. Have you seen the tetris light? I’m loving it and we might need it too.

    1. theramblingjen

I have not see that! I did love that game though!

We watched it the other day and it was really funny. I actually liked it way more then I was expecting to. N really liked it so that is a plus too.

I agree with you, the boxes with the Funko Pop figures are the best! I get LootCrate for my 9 year old daughter and she loves it every month. We really liked the Batman/joker figure and she wore the Groot socks that day. But she thought the comic looked too scary for her.

    1. theramblingjen

I’d go for socks and a Funko Pop every month!

Watch Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s hilarious.

My husband, son, and I are really big Marvel fans. You need to watch Guardians of the Galaxy. It is awesome!

    1. theramblingjen

My husband wore his socks to work this week, so we’ll be watching it soon!

I got this month’s Loot Crate solely because they advertised something in honor of the Ghostbusters anniversary, so I was very disappointed that it was only a door hanger. Also, I had a broken mini candy cane out of it’s plastic wrap in the box, so that was my first impression — not a good one. The only thing I really liked was the Groot socks which I’m giving to a friend, and my son is keeping the door hanger. Otherwise, I’m hoping to trade the rest!

    1. theramblingjen

You’d think it would have been one of the bigger items!

My 15 year old son is very happy with this box. He is gifting the Simpson’s wallet to a friend and keeping the rest for himself. He’s really happy that it came with socks. I think the Groot socks and the Funko Pop figure are the biggest hits for him. Count me as another one disappointed that the Ghostbuster item is a door knob hanger.

    1. theramblingjen

You’d think if they advertised Ghostbusters as one of the two spoiler items it would be something bigger!

I love the POP! figures way more then the shirts. I collect the POP! figures so it’s great to get ones or exclusives and I never have to worry about them fitting;)
