Now What?

So I never really mentioned it on the blog before, but up until a week or so ago, I had a job. A full-time 8am to 5pm (plus) job to be exact. I don’t really think it’s appropriate to discuss your job on a personal blog, so I never did. I mean, what if someone I had contact with that day read my blog and thought I was talking about them? So unprofessional. But anyways, I decided recently that I would not be returning to work after I had the baby. Could I work and be a good mom to two kids? Of course. Tons of people do it and are fabulous at it. I am all about working mom power! I would never ever say that working moms are awful for leaving their kids or that stay at home moms have it easy or anything of that. Those debates are dumb. But, for me, I decided it was time to take a break and spend some time at home. I mean, L is going to kindergarten next year, so this is my last chance to hang out with him more. And I am SO looking forward to it.

I am taking my new role seriously. I have cooked dinner 3 times in the last week (twice after the baby was born), which is 3 more times than I have cooked dinner since I went back to work after L was born. I am also pretty awesome at doing laundry and keeping track of B’s schedule and appointments (he’s a busy guy) and running errands. All that stuff we used to have to cram in during the weekends and evenings will now be done during the day. How amazing will that be?? This marks the first time in over 20 years that I will not have a job. How insane is that??? I’m not sure I will ever refer to myself as a SAHM. I mean, I guess I am, but I think when people ask what I do, I’ll just tell them I am retired ;).

I hope you love being a SAHM as much as I did and you’ll be out there running your errands during the week with all of us other retirees.

    I’ve been a SAHM for almost 11 years, & I wouldn’t trade it for anything! I have a couple more years before they’re all in school full-time, then we’ll see…Have fun 😉
