7 Months – Oh My!

WB turned 7 months-old yesterday.  It feels like just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital, but then again, it feels like he’s been here forever.

One of the most frequent questions people ask when they see WB (and most all babies I’d imagine) is if he’s a good / easy baby.  And while he’s a totally happy and insanely cute baby, he’s not exactly easy.  L was an easy baby.  Slept through the night at super early (I think it was like 6’ish weeks), sucked down bottles like it was his job (and really it was) and was just an overall textbook baby.  WB, oh WB, is another story.  He’s way way better about eating his bottles now (although 90% of the time he needs to be half asleep to eat one), he used to be such a pain in the a**.  If left to his own devices, I am guessing WB would want to eat an ounce or two every hour he is awake.  And then would wake up screaming every three hours at night to eat.  Or he would just eat all regular food and say screw the bottles.  Luckily though he isn’t in charge ;).

But in exchange for being a not so great eater, WB is seriously one of the most happy, smiley babies ever.  I can wake him up from a nap(*) and it takes him about two minutes to wake up, put on a happy face and be good to go.  Except for eating (and when professional photographers are involved) he’s very go with the flow.  Partly because he has no choice and partly because that’s just his personality.

And just in case you want to play the compare-a-baby game(**), I believe WB weighs 17’ish pounds, is 27 inches tall, drinks 30’ish ounces of formula a day, eats 2-3 meals a day, sits up, crawls like a mad man, pulls himself up, hates all things quiet, can’t drink out of a sippy cup to save his life and talks every loudly whenever he is out in public.

(*) Yeah I wake up a sleeping baby. Sometimes we’ve got actual stuff to do!
(**) I believe L ate about the same amounts food / formula wise (plus rice cereal which he loved and WB hates), was the same height, was just starting to crawl at 7 months, didn’t pull himself up, sat up way earlier than WB and probably weighed 20+ pounds.  Different kids, different stats!
