Holiday Decorating

I think I have gotten the majority of my holiday decorating done (with the exception of my real tree – it’s too early for that), so I thought I’d share a few pictures.  As you can see, I went with a colorful theme all over the house.  I have silver and red in our guest bathroom and will do whatever L wants in his bedroom and bathroom, but all the open spaces and our room are colorful.

Instead of buying lots of knick-knacky stuff, I have been doing most of my decorating with plain old ornaments.  I put them in whatever containers I already have out and that’s it!  I have a cask stand filled with ornaments on my kitchen table, a bowl of ornaments on my counter, etc.  Since they are so brightly colored, I feel like it’s enough you know?

I gotta say, after making an ornament wreath myself, I am not overly fond of store bought ornament wreaths.  They are just too perfect.  If I had more time and all the supplies just sitting on my basement or something, I’d make another one and return the one that’s on my front door!

And up until a few years ago, I’d never done a theme tree before.  I have a white one and this skinny one and now I’ll use one of the two and fancy it up.  To the best of my ability anyways.  It’s fun (to look at not to decorate) and we still get to have our real tree that has a mish-mash of ornaments collected through the years.

How is your decorating coming along?  Are you already finished or have you not even started?  And do you do a “theme” in your house or do you use your favorite pieces and say screw the theme?

Love your bright colored ornaments! I just made an ornament wreath this past weekend and it took me 2 whole days to complete it! Totally worth it though!

I have a lot of ornaments left over from last year that you can have. If you want to make a wreath for your front door.

I LOVE that lamp! Where did you get it? Such a great idea to just leave the vases and jars and just switch it up for the holidays!

Dustin wont let me start decorating until it is December. I can go buy decorations now but I have to wait until this weekend to start decorating. If it was really up to him though we wouldn’t have a tree until the week before Christmas!

Love all of it! You inspired me to make a colorful ornament vase for my guest bath. Target had really cute candy cane ornaments for $1.69 that work well with their colored ornaments and decor. They look great all thrown together in a wide, low vase!

LOVE the ribbon on your skinny tree. IS that Target too? Funny thing is I have all these colored ornaments from Target a few years ago so I may just need to copy your ribbon now! It matches perfectly.

Yes, Jen!! Not in my store, but they have it online still. Tomorrow is payday so I was planning on ordering it along with a few other goodies. Do you have unlit or pre lit? I wasn’t sure what was better. I like alot of lights!!

My tree came unlit, but I added lights. I would have bought a lit one had they had it in the store!
