Unless you have been living under a rock or are on a deserted island, you know that the east coast is going to get pounded with snow in the next few days. Like maybe a couple of FEET of snow. I am a tad jealous because I wouldn’t mind being snowed in at all (we are still only getting 5-7 inches) and I know L would love it, but let’s face it, it turns into a hot mess on the roads here when there is even like an inch of snow. But then again, if you’re snowed in, you don’t have to drive…

Let’s do some pros and cons shall we?

Pros:
~You can (usually) stay home from work / school. You’ll get a fun day with the kids or a day at home to get things done or just relax.
~It’s pretty. Once people start driving in it, walking on it, etc. it just gets so dirty and nasty. But at first? It’s beautiful.
~It’s a good excuse. Don’t feel like going to that meeting? Want to skip that appointment? Done. You can’t go. There’s just too much snow.
~The comradery between neighbors. During storms, power outages or whenever you are trapped at your house, you always have your neighbors. Listen, you know one of them has wine, so if you run out or get bored, head over to one of their houses!

Cons:
~The power might go out. Oh my. It’s one thing when it goes out in the summer. But in the winter when it’s cold, come on. That just sucks.
~If you have to go somewhere, it’s going to be miserable getting there.
~Cabin fever. There’s something about NOT being able to leave the house that makes you want to leave the house even more.
~The clean up. Eventually someone is going to have to do something with all that snow. in your driveway and on that sidewalk.

Still, I think I would be excited for a blizzard! We haven’t gotten that much snow in ages and I would love to see the look on L’s face if it happened! Plus, I don’t have anywhere to go, so I wouldn’t have to drive in it!

Is snow coming where you live? How much are you expecting? Are you excited or hating even the idea of it? What are your snow day plans? Have you stock piled groceries? (*) Do you want me to ask more questions?

(*) Please, please explain to me why people grab 8 loaves of bread, 6 jars of peanut butter, etc. when doing pre-storm shopping. What on earth are you going to do with all that? Seriously. And don’t even get me started about the people buying shovels at the hardware store the night before a storm. WTF did you do the other 10 times it snowed this year? I just don’t get it?

I work in a grocery store, so I hate storm forecasts. People go absolutely crazy! Plus I really hate driving in the snow, I went off the road a couple years ago and I’ve been petrified ever since.

As someone who lives in NJ and works in NYC, I’m not looking forward to it but really it’s just my commute. I like the idea of being stuck inside with my husband and son.

They already canceled school here in my town. I live in CT and we are getting anywhere from 15-24 inches. Depending what t.v.station you are watching. What ever may fall, I am happy to have my boys home with me.

Hahaha your asterisk made me lol.

Since I live in NC we are only going to get rain. I wish we’d get a couple inches of snow but doesn’t look like it. The joke here is everyone buys bread and milk. I get bread as you can do so much with it but milk really? It doesn’t get that cold here so if the power goes out it will go bad. When I lived up north we could put it in the snow but you can’t do that here so there is no need to buy that much milk.

The issue with any bad weather here is the whole place shuts down. It was about 6ish years ago that we got half an inch of ice and kids ended up spending the night at schools since they couldn’t get them home and ever since that they are really careful. But like you now that I stay home me and the boys will just bunker in and ride it out. 🙂

I am a teacher and let’s face it….. Teachers love snow days! ( I think sometimes more than the kids). We have not had many snow days in the past 2-3 years so I feel like we are due for a few!! Bring on the snow! Love staying home with my princess and just being lazy and cozy!!

It is straight up calamity here. They are talking like 3 feet of snow. Gas stations are out of gas. Grocery stores are insane. I’m just hoping we dont lose power. I can deal with everything else!

We are in the 2 ft + area and I’m DREADING it!!!! I hate snow though haha any amount. I’m mostly worried about losing power. But don’t worry, I’ve stocked up on wine and beer 🙂

So glad I don’t have to worry about snow any more! It’s pretty to look at, but I hated having to drive in it. And loved your comment about the snow shovels, as that’s something I’ve always wondered! 🙂

I’ve also often wondered about the shovel thing because we have had the same two shovels for like 5 years now…so why are people rushing out to buy them I mean come on you live in the midwest your going to get snow at least once during winter.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and did my normal shopping not stocking up like the works was going to end. What shocked me was when I hit up Costco I saw people buying cases of paper towels and toilet paper like it was the last time they could get it. Why do you need 20 rolls of toilet paper if your snowed in for 3 days?

  12. I’m use to lots of snow in Maine. We got 30 inches this weekend and another 3 this morning. I actually don’t mind the snow since I work from home. Our familyhad lots of fun with this snow storm!
