I don’t think it’s a secret that around my house, B does the cooking. He enjoys it and is good at it and I find it to be more of a chore than “fun”, so he does it. Plus, I suck at deciding when things are “done”. I cut into pieces of meat like 10 times to decide if it is done and safe to eat, so kinda makes it not pretty anymore. LOL.
Although I don’t cook for B and I, I usually am the one that makes the kids meals. They eat, well, like kids, so its super easy to “cook” for them. And when B is at school (which is 4 nights a week), I am forced to cook for myself then as well. But it is a pain in the butt to cook for one person, so calling it cooking is a little much.
Who cooks at your house? Do you share the duties? Is it all you? All your significant other? Do you like to cook? And heck, if you have some amazing recipe, let’s hear it!
I’m the cook in my house due to timing. M gets home about 6 and the boys are starving by then so they want food on the table. I don’t mind cooking but I wouldn’t say I love it like some people do. My problem is coming up with things to make. I feel like I’m always making the same things over and over. I also don’t always call it cooking. I like to call it fancy warmups since yes I’m cooking the food but I’m not really mixing ingredients all together or anything. One pan chicken, one pan past, other pan veggie. LOL that’s it here most of the nights. LOL
We both cook… probably 50/50. I do the grocery shopping though. When it’s just me and the toddler – I’ll obviously have dinner for him, but I have no motivation to cook anything for just myself. So I’ll eat a bowl of cereal or last week get this, a torilla with cheese in it that I microwaved? That’s great. I was getting complaints that we were having the same things for dinner over and over. So I emailed like 10 friends and family members asking them for their go to easy dinner meal recipes. I was surprised to see that they were different than mine… and now we have a few more go to recipes in the rotation.
Mostly me in our house, although my hubby does cook when I want him too and he does all the grilling! I don’t mind cooking, its the clean up I hate! 🙂
We share for the most part or we eat separate things so we both cook. My husband is a vegetarian and I’m not so if I want meat, I cook the meat and we share sides. My husband also happens to be a chef who cooks mostly health food so because of that, I actually end up cooking a bit more. Since he cooks all day he doesn’t love doing it at home.
My SO used to do most of the cooking and I would contribute occasionally…I’m not very talented in the cooking world. He recently went vegetarian though so we each make our own meals now. I hate cooking for one but most meals last at least for 2 meals!
I do the majority of the cooking because I LOVE it, haha it’s an obsession. Every now and then Kyle will cook if I asked him too, he enjoys it.
I love to cook which is lucky because I’m not sure if my husband knows how to crack an egg!
I do 90% of the “cooking” at my house. Hubby only cooks every blue moon or if I ask him to. It’s not something I actually enjoy… still not sure how it ended up my job… wait, nevermind, hubby burns things… lol. There are a few things that he can do better (like BBQ and bacon) and those are the things he does 🙂
I cook 99% of the time. I am not that good at it, but it works! My husband will cook the fish or grill, but usually its me! If i was rich, I’d hire a chef! 🙂
I do a majority of the cooking although my husband will help if I have something going on or on the weekends. He does do most of the grilling 🙂 I plan a list of menu items that will last a month and then try to buy anything that won’t spoil during one major grocery trip only going back for fresh produce, bread, etc.
I do most of the cooking, but don’t really enjoy it so I tend to stick to the basics. You’re lucky that B enjoys cooking! Maybe teach L when he gets older?
I do the cooking, although your Dad has learned to open the fridge and microwave to heat some things up. He’s gotten a little more adventurous, in his old age, in what he eats, so dinners are a little more interesting.
I enjoy cooking most of the time, but Tom cooks occasionally as well. He likes to grill (sterotypical) and do stir fry and what not.
My husband’s idea of sharing in the cooking is …what do you want me to order or where do you want to go 😉
I’m always envious of women whose husbands cook for the family. I cook everything in our house, and I’ve done it since before we were even engaged. I’m not bragging, but I’m a pretty good cook and when I don’t have little ones tugging on my legs, I enjoy cooking. But, I must say, when we go out to eat or just have leftovers, I feel an immense relief that I have a few more minutes to get other things done besides cooking and prepping a meal. I guess as a SAH mom, I just assume it’s my job to cook for the family, so I’m good with it…for now. It would be nice if C knew how to cook though… 🙂
Oh yeah, and Allrecipes.com is like my best friend in the kitchen. 🙂
We make Alessio eat what we eat 🙂 I’m not fun lol!
I do 90% of the cooking. Hubby will usually cook if he wants to try a new recipe and has lots of time, on the weekens only. I’m faster and know what I’m doing more, so I take on most meals. We both love to cook though.
I do pretty much all the cooking in our house. I use to hate cooking meats because I never knew when they were done but then we got a fancy digital meat thermometer and it works great! We also do a weekly meal plan so if I am busy then Dustin can start supper. He is the one that makes stuff on the grill though. He enjoys that which is fine by me because I’m afraid of grilling haha!
I’m lucky too since the hubs thinks he’s a chef. He’s an awesome cook so that’s great for me. I’d say he cooks 70% of the time and definitely if it’s steak. I tend to do the crock pot style meals or the “regulars” that we eat weekly. A super awesome chicken recipe that is SUPER easy is
* ~2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
* 1/3 c Dijon mustard (the best is Maille)
* 3 T Grade B (it?s cheaper than A) Maple Syrup
* 1 stem fresh rosemary, chopped
Let it all marinate at least an hour (i do overnight) and then grill it up! I sub breasts for thighs and do them on a grill pan.
I like cooking too and so when I moved in w/J I kind of took over in that area. Now I’m wishing I would have let him do a little more. He swears he LOVES to cook and is good at it, yet he never offers to do it. Unless it’s grilling, then it’s ALL him.
I voted that we share but I probably do a little more than he does. He tends to cook more on the weekends (steaks, etc) whereas I do most of the weekday stuff. I’m facsinated by families where the husband does all of the cooking!
I love to cook and my husband gets home late so I do 90% of the cooking. He does cook on the weekend, though!
Weekdays it’s usually just me so I make something simple. On weekends we eat out a lot but if we’re not going out, I’m usually the one who cooks.
I really enjoy cooking, especially if I don’t feel rushed.
