B’s August Birchbox Man showed up today and I was both surprised and excited to see it in the mailbox.  I had it in my Posted App (one of my favorite Apps and I even paid the $1.99 for it) but for some reason it wasn’t updating right in USPS.

The Box

I almost didn’t recognize the box because it was teal.  Have we ever gotten a teal Birchbox Man? I couldn’t see the label in the mailbox and thought what on earth is this?  I don’t know if it’s a new thing or a one time thing or what, but I like it.

I forgot to take a first look picture because all I could think about was the smell of the box and I wanted to check it out.  It wasn’t a bad smell, but from the minute I opened the box I could smell something powerful!

The Information Card

The August Birchbox Man Theme was “Serve It Up” and is described as pushing the envelope and biting off a little more than you can chew with your summer hosting plans. I never really understand Birchbox themes, but I love them, so it doesn’t bother me.

B received Box #7 (*) this month which included the following:

~Sasquatch Soap Company Pine Tar Soap ($1.44): This is what made my box smelly!  It’s a good smell though – kinda piney and manly and B will for sure use this.  He got a bar from the same company in his May Bespoke Post box and really liked it, so this perfect!  He’s been using bar soap lots lately too.  I still can’t get into them though??

~Billy Jealousy Liquid Sand Exfoliating Facial Cleanser ($3): Someone once asked if B actually used all the samples he gets and I can confirm, that yes, he does.  He is actually amazing with his and gets them in the mail, uses them all up orders more or moves on to the next sample.  I believe he has gotten something from this brand before, but I’m not sure what?  The Liquid Sand is a nice clean smell and has just a touch of the exfloliator so you aren’t ripping your face to shreds.

~English Laundry Riveria ($1.56): I have never heard of this brand before, but I am loving the scent! It’s described as an “instant island getaway” and I am totally loving it!  I think I am going to have to save up some Birchbox points for this.  It will be awhile though since I just broke down and blew all my points on the CEW boxes.

~Herban Essentials Towelettes ($2.50): I don’t know if B will want these, but if he doesn’t I totally do!  They are wipes for your face, body, hands or whatever, to get rid of “grime, sweat and oil” without dehydrating skin. They smell good and I always carry some in my bag.  You never know.

~Roosevelt Supply Canvas Apron ($28): B wears an apron every time he cooks, so I think he’ll appreciate the spare!  Next time he’s cooking with an apron on, I will snap a picture.  I’d take one now, but he’s not home.

All totaled, B’s August Birchbox Man had a value of $36.40, (NOT including points for doing reviews and purchasing the box itself (**) – which would bring the value up to $43.50), which was, as always, way more than the $20 price tag. We totally love Birchbox Man and B looks forward to receiving this box every month.

Are they serious with the apron? This was my first box, and a lot of the historical stuff looked cooler.

Maybe if I start butchering meat. 🙂
