My July ipsy Glam Bag arrived yesterday and while I am not usually ipsy’s biggest fan, even I was excited for this month. I was excited when I first saw the spoilers and then when I looked in My Glam Room when it opened, I was even more excited!
ipsy ships via DHL Global Mail and takes forever to arrive. I once heard an explanation of their shipping methods and it basically involved hitching a ride on whatever truck had extra space and them dealing with the logistics of where it ended up and how to get it to its destination later.
It’s kind of hard to do an ipsy first look since it’s in a bag, but this is what it looked like when I took it out of the bag.
As usual, ipsy doesn’t do an information card. Rather, they include a card listing the month’s theme (the July ipsy theme was “Beach Beauty”) and discounts amounts for each of the brands that partnered with ipsy this month. Here’s what my July ipsy glam bag contained:
~Benefit Benetint ($6): This was probably the item I was most excited about. I love benetint and consider it a makeup bag staple. Sure I already have a big bottle of it, but this will be perfect for traveling! Love benetint!
~Coola Mineral Sunscreen ($5.04): It just occurred to me that I have gotten so much sunscreen this summer. I am excited to get them every time, but I *might* need to move to somewhere were I get outside more in the winter months. I haven’t unsealed this yet to smell it (I don’t like to open things until I know I will use them right away), but I have read that the scent is a bit much? Did you get this? What’d you think?
~Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon (Fuchsia Flirt) ($4.16): I love lip crayons and although the color on this one is a tad bright, I don’t even care. It’s fun and summery and I love it.
~Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray ($6.65): When I heard about some of the options for this month, I immediately crossed my fingers for this! It smells beachy and gives my hair texture, which I like. Off all the texture hair stuff I have gotten recently (Julep Sea Salt, it Surf Spray and this), I don’t know which I like the best? I need to use each of the on consecutive days and then decide.
~bhcosmetics California Collection ($1): I was shocked to check out the bhcosmetics website and find that you can get a ton of shadows in a pallet for $10. This is a great pallet and Malibu is my favorite.
Bonus Item: Nicole by OPI (Pretty in Plum) ($7): I received this item for referring to friends to ipsy last month and of course I love it. It’s nail polish. What’s not to love?
All totaled the July ipsy MyGlam bag has a value $22.85 (or $29.85 if you include the polish). I totally loved this month and months like this make me want to keep my ipsy subscription. In comparison, last month’s bag was worth $48.48 and I was just meh about it. But July ranked right up there with May’s bag, which I also loved!

I didn’t get the benetint but I got the nailtini. I have benetint from bb I think that I still haven’t tried. I think it intimidates me a little bit. Hmm going out with the girls scrapping on Sat maybe I’ll make a point to use all new to me products. That could be a great challenge.
You’re lucky… I did not like my Ipsy bag…I was hoping for the bag you got but instead I got a perfume oil and hairspray again!…the same hairspray I got in a past bag so I was hoping for the beach spray 🙁 and I thought everyone was going to get benetint which I was really looking forward to…I wonder if they send bloggers the better items cause I feel like I usually get stuck with the crappier items in my bag…hoping next month is better or I might cancel…I like Ipsy but my last two bags have been full of items I won’t use
Did you try the lip crayon yet? I got the same one & thought omg TOO bright! but I tried it on & was pleasantly surprised.:)

This is really helpful! I cancelled my subscription after I received my first box last month, since I was so annoyed with how opposite everything was to my profile. I use the highlighting pencil, but that’s it.
I had a change of mind and decided that for the price, it was worth it to try again, and I went back on the waitlist. But seeing this bag, I can tell ipsy just isn’t for me! The benetint looks great, but I wouldn’t want anything else that’s in there. $10 less a month is a good start…!

I received the sunscreen too. I didn’t think that the smell was bad or very strong. I was really worried about that since I am allergic to a lot of things.
I got the Beach Spray — haven’t used it yet, The Coola Unscented Sunscreen — which I am a sunscreen junkie! The same eyeshadows — which I didn’t care to much for, the Demeter Roll on — Which is AMAZING!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! 🙂 and The Coral colored pop crayon — which I have not used yet. It was a good bag!
I don’t have any hair!! Why do these boxes insist on sending me hair products!! My 2 year old LOVES the lip crayon…she and mommy wore it to the grocery store today and got lots of adorable comments. I didn’t get any benetint 🙁 And I also keep getting fingernail polishes in variations of orange. I’m all set for October and pumpkin season b/c I think I truly have at least 4 different orange nail polishes. LOL. I liked the ipsy bag this month though. LuLu loved the bag itself to carry her little toys around in. I’m pleased 🙂
What do you do with all these Ipsy bags?
I got the shadows, the lip pencil in the coral color, some sort of perfume roll-on I can’t smell because I’m so sick, the sunscreen which I won’t use because it is only SPF 20, and I wear 80 on my face, and a can of hairspray. I NEVER use hairspray.
I haven’t tried the shadows, lip pencil or perfume because I’m sick and look and feel horrible. The other two are useless to me, and will go into the giveaway pile. I’m beyond bummed that I didn’t get a Benetint or that gorg Nailtini polish. I live in corals in the summer, and that would have been perfect.
I’m reserving my overall opinion for when I feel better. I’m too miserable to decide anything at the moment.

I wanted the benitint more than anything. Of course I got nailtini. Bleh. Also hairspray again. This is my third one since they sent that as a replacement for a broken hair syrum. Not sure how they follow the profiles since I told them I have naturally curly hair. The last thing I need is volumizing hairspray. Also olive skin plus coral anything is a bad combo. Just makes me look sick.
I got some roll on perfume that I really liked in mine! I’m a big fan of the roll on stuff! I loved this month, but I love every month of ipsy! For the $10 it costs, I have never been let down! 🙂
We are bag twins this month. I also got the Opi for referrals. I loved every last item this month. The only thing I was meh about was the color of the pop stick. I don’t have anything that color so I am alright with it. Would be fun for a night out. Be careful of using the wave spray daily. It will dry your hair out. I like to spray a bit of the Beauty Protector spray (from Birchbox) in it first. I’m about to try out my Coola SPF today at the beach.
I just signed up for Ipsy through your link. Hopefully you get a non-makeup product! I’m on the waitlist though. Wonder how long it will be.
