July Love With Food

My July Love With Food Box arrived a few days ago and was excited to see it because I had heard great things about this month. I don’t always love everything in Love With Food, but I do love trying it all.

The Box

I mention it every month, but it’s important, so I will mention it again. Love With Food donates a meal to hungry child in the U.S. for every box purchased. Actually, this month was two meals donated to Oklahoma food banks.  So by purchasing a box, you are helping out where it’s needed.

Usually I can’t repack a Love With Food box, but I tried it this month and I actually could do it!  Maybe there is hope for me yet.

The Information Card

The July Love With Food theme is “Fun on the Boardwalk” and is intended to deliver seaside treats to remind you of the classic sights, smells and sounds of summer.  And of course, to help you beat the heat.  Here is what was included:

~Hawaiian Salted Caramel Popcorn from Kukuruza: It’s possible this is the most delicious popcorn I have never tried.  It’s so delicious and I already want more. However, I refuse to order it because it’s just not going to be a safe thing to keep in the house.

~BBQ Beef Stick from Vermont Smoke and Cure: B loves beef sticks, beef jerky and basically all packaged animal products, so I have already ordered more of these for him.  I tried them and thought they were fine, but I’m not really fan of this kind of stuff anyway.  why does beef jerky and the like always smell?

~Rebel Mary Peanuts from Lord Nut Levington: I was surprised when I tried these and discovered that they really do taste like a spicy bloody mary.  For some reason I didn’t think they’d be as flavorful as they are, but I like them.

~All Natural Orange Salt Water Taffy from Angel Mint: This was fairly warm when it was delivered, but didn’t stick to the wrapper like I kind of expected it to.  These really do remind me of summer and I enjoyed trying it.

~Snack Topping from Twangerz: I haven’t tried these yet, but the next time I eat a bag of Skinny Pop Popcorn, I am so dumping one of these packets in the bag and trying it.  I love  Skinny Pop, but sometimes I feel like it needs something more, so this might do the trick.

~Handmade Sourdough Pretzels from Uncle Henry’s: I know it’d be impossible to ship soft pretzels in the box, but this totally make me want one.  Sourdough pretzels are good, but soft pretzels are better.

~Strawberry Fig Bar from Nature’s Bakery: We are huge fans of fig bars here (all 4 of us enjoy them) and we fight over who gets to eat them when they appear in boxes.  I finally broke down and ordered more so we can all enjoy them (at the same time).

~Classic Candy Wafers from NECCO: You know, I don’t think I have ever had Necco wafers before this?  I mean I’d heard of them of course, but I can’t recall ever eating them.  And I’ve discovered that I’m not a fan of them.

I personally love pickle salt on popcorn, but my boyfriend thinks I’m disgusting for it. (Granted, he’s not a massive fan of popcorn. Or pickles for that matter.)

Also, you’ve probably had Necco candy and just not realized it – they make those conversation Sweethearts at Valentine’s Day and a lot of the flavors are the same as the wafers.

I was excited about this box upon opening it as last month didn’t really do it for me. So funny…I had the same thought about the pretzels. I think it would have been so much more amazing had it been a soft pretzel. I also have never had Necco wafers…glad to hear that it wasn’t just me. I haven’t tried them yet but my daughter seems to approve. I liked the taffy and fig bar, thought the beef stick was just okay, and hated the peanuts. Still have yet to try the caramel corn or salts.

This box makes me sorry I cancelled. So many tasty treats! I’m not a big fan of Necco Wafers either, but DH loves them. And pickle salt on popcorn? Ick!

My first Goodies, Co. Box is on its way and Rue La La has a special on Love With Food yesterday and today. I’ve resisted so far but this looks like such a fun box.

Necco Wafers are the American classic everyone loves to hate. 🙂

We put the twangerz in our beer. Not the pickle flavor though. Just pour a beer and sprinkle some lime salt in it! It’s yummy!!
