Yesterday was such a great mail day around here and one of the many subscription boxes I received was my June 2014 Escape Monthly Box!

If you aren’t familiar with them, Escape Monthly, which is $49.95/month is a monthly vacation in a box. Each month you will discover products from a different location. Products consist off local and destination-inspired foods, relaxation and beauty essentials, and the highest quality products that bring the life of the destination right to you. They have also recently launched an “Escape Mini” ($24.95/month) and contains 4 to 5 luxury, locally-made products and a travel brochure.

The Box

Escape Monthly ships via USPS Priority Mail and takes two days to arrive to me.  I think everyone gets their boxes at just about the same time with them which I think is great.  It kind of forces you not to be spoiled.

First Look

I love (like LOVE) Las Vegas so I was dying to see what they picked for this box.  I wasn’t sure if they’d go the spa route or the casino route or how they would handle this.

The Information Card

As I mentioned the June 2014 Escape Monthly theme was “Las Vegas” and featured the following gems that capture both the city’s glitzy personality and unique boutique luxury brands that thrive there:

~Moon Nevada Travel Guide ($19.99): In the many times I have visited Las Vegas I have never actually ventured outside the city.  I would love to visit Lake Mead, Red Rock Canyon and explore more of the state.

~Tahoe Nevada Toffee Gift Box ($6): I am cracking up because when I took this picture I did not realize that the toffee was shaped like Nevada.  I thought it was just a funky shape. It wasn’t until I was trying to find a price on this (I ended up guessing) that I realized it!  I am saving this for B for when he gets back from his trip.

~Iadora Charcoal Salt Body Scrub ($15): I have a newfound love for charcoal products so this is perfect for me right now.  I haven’t used it in the shower yet, but I scrubbed my hands with it and really liked it.

~Las Vegas Shot Glass ($3.95): Ha!  What’s Vegas without some shots?  That used to be how I did Vegas, but now we are more pool / gambling / spa people.

~Authentic Clipped Casino Playing Cards ($4.99): They actually used to give away casino decks free (I think you just had to ask), but those days are gone!  Now they sell them in all the gift shops on the strip! For whatever reason I feel more authentic when I play with cards that were used in the actual casino.  Even if it’s just solitaire.

~3 Girls Holistic Calming Mist Body Spray ($12): Oh I need this.  I should spray it before and after I hit the casino so I get that “zen” feeling no matter what happens ;).  I need to remember to bring this!

~Vegas Wine Stopper ($2.59): This was the last item in the box I opened and as I was opening it I was thinking we didn’t get any dice!  But here they are, in the form of a wine stopper.

~Bonus: Vegas Nail File ($1.25): Totally useful for me and it will remind me of Las Vegas every time I use it.

All totaled I came up with a value of $65.77 for the June 2014 Escape Monthly – Las Vegas box.  I wasn’t necessarily wowed by this box, but I wasn’t really disappointed either.  I thought it had a good mixture of items – all of which I will use, however, nothing really jumped out at me either.

What do you think of Escape Monthly this month?  If you subscribed, which guidebook did you get?  If you are interested in subscribing or just want to learn more, click here.  You can use the code “INDIAESCAPE” to score 20% off, not only your first box, but all your other boxes for the life of your subscription.  That gets you a discount of $10/month on the regular box which is awesome (it doesn’t look like the code works on the Escape Mini)!  The July 2014 Escape Monthly destination is “India” and is described as “A Taste of the Unknown”.  I am debating about getting the Mini Escape going forward, but I am just not sure.

Your unboxing was fabulous! Great pics and descriptions. I bought this box for a friend and it’s nice to see what he got. Like you, I’m not wowed by it. Last month’s box was pretty great, loved almost all the products. Can’t wait to see what they do with India.

    1. Jennifer

I can’t wait either! Any guesses???

  2. JacLyn

I am considering the Mini Escape, too. $50 is a lot for a box with a book I do not use, so I was thinking about cancelling. $25 for the other items would be just fine! I’ve heard that the mini boxes this month had the same items, but it might not stay that way. I wish there was more concrete information. :/

I do the 20% off lifetime discount, so mine it $40, but I don’t know that I need the travel books every month. Maybe I will check out a a few months of minis that other people get??

This was my first Escape box and I thought it was “fun.” My shot glass is a little different than yours – same design, but instead of being clear, it’s hot pink (love it.)
And I thought the Toffee was a funky shape too – until it hit me it was Nevada! I am going to a Casino on Sunday, I should take the spray with me too — good idea! Like I said, this is my first Escape box and I have only received on Hammock box so far – I plan on comparing the two over about 2 – 3 months and then decide which to continue with since they are so similar. For “round 1” Escape wins. Have you signed up of Hammock yet?

    1. Jennifer

Let me know how the spray calms you at the casino!!!!!

I signed for for the June Hammock Pack, but it hasn’t arrived yet. Have you gotten yours?

      1. Jody

Not yet — last month it came on the 22nd, so it should be here soon!

I just got an email from Escape asking to rate their box, just a few questions they asked, and I will receive a bonus item in my next box. I don’t know if this is something they always do, but it’s a good incentive to respond to their email!

I ordered the mini and it came with everything but the book and I didn’t get the spray. I thought for the price it was nice. They had a cute brochure with fun facts about Vegas.

    1. Jennifer

Ohhh, I was so curious about the mini! So everything was the same except the spray and the book. Hmm, I like the spray so I don’t know… Are you getting it again next month too?

  5. PA Anna

I received the exact same items including the same shot glass. This is my second month with the Living Social deal. I will be using the scrub this weekend. I’m also saving the toffee for my husband. I like last month’s box better. I’m not sure if I will continue with the regular box or switch to the mini after my next box. I’m hoping for spices or loose teas from India. It would be nice if they could provide an option where you could pick the regular size or mini each month. I also heard that the minis will be different than the regular boxes in the future, but I could not find anything concrete on their website or facebook page.

    1. Jennifer

That would be cool if you could select every month. I am not sure what I am hoping for from India?

  6. Megan

I can’t wait for the India box! I wonder what we’ll get?! – maybe some yoga stuff, chai tea packets, pretty bangles or earrings (I guess that might be too girly though, LOL!), colored glass lanterns or tea light holders, some henna even? – it’s hard to guess! I have a friend who’s Indian-American, and she has some of the prettiest dresses! Plus, I love the food her mom makes! 😉

    1. Jennifer

Ohh, I like the yoga idea! And bangles!

  7. Jenna

Las Vegas is my happy place, I love it! Great box.

  8. Glenda

I called it on the deck of cards from a casino last month! 🙂 I enjoyed this box! We travel to Vegas once or twice a year, even got married there, so I thought this was fitting. For the ones who really disliked the box (not ‘meh’ but really unhappy with it), I am not entirely sure what they would’ve expected anyway in the bigger picture…

Although an old school show girl feather boa might have been fun! Ha! (That with a shot glass would start turning into a bachelorette party box.)

I am pretty excited for the India box–hope I win the trip!!! I was supposed to go there a few years ago for work but it fell through.

    1. Jennifer

Do they announce who wins it? I have never seen anyone post? I wouldn’t have minded winning the Vegas trip!

      1. Glenda

On their Facebook page, they’ve mentioned a few times that they plan to add a page to their website about the trip winner. Thus far, I only know that I didn’t win any of them!

  9. Glenda

Oh yeah, my spray leaked all over the book so they are replacing that. I got a different shot glass. I like the pattern on yours better. I also got the Paris LV cards, which is where we stayed recently, so I enjoyed that coincidence!

  10. PA Anna

I didn’t mention that my calming mist leaked onto the box and the wine stopper snapped in my above comments. I emailed Escape Monthly CS which responded quickly offering to replace the items. Within a span of a week I received my replacement box! I met my mailman and brought the box back to the house wondering why it was heavy. They replaced the entire box!!! This went way beyond my expectations. My husband scarfed down the toffee again when he came back from his business trip. I also wanted to add that since I last posted that I’ve used the scrub twice and love it. I’ve been using the calming mist at night. I gave my sister the extra Nevada book since she loves Las Vegas. Also I received a much better shot glass than last time. It’s pink and has playing cards, dice, chips and other gambling items depicted on the shot glass. My teen took both packs of cards. He thought it was cool they were used in a casino.Oh and the wine stopper did not snap this time.

Absolutely amazing in one week from when I emailed them that I received a box which went way beyond my expectations. Now to decide which size box after the India box. I’m very pleased with my experience with Escape Monthly.
