June The Homegrown Collective

The June Homegrown Collective Box appeared in my mailbox yesterday and, much like last month, I hadn’t even gotten a chance to figure out what the theme was, so I was super excited to open it up and see what was inside.  The Homegrown Collective includes seasonally appropriate, professionally curated products that deliver the satisfaction of living a more self-sufficient & sustainable lifestyle to your doorstep each month.  They typically include many of projects I have always wanted to do, but haven’t quite actually got around to doing.

The Homegrown Collective ships via USPS Priority Mail and took only two days to arrive to me from CA.    Love that!

First Look

Eeek!  I was so excited by the first look because it’s totally perfect for us right now.  And I have to say, The Homegrown Collective packs a good box.  They send liquids and glass and I have never had any issues at all.

The June The Homegrown Collective theme is “Vim & Vinegar” and includes three projects: “Blueberry Infused Balsamic Vinegar”,  “The bBest all Purpose Cleaner” and “The Best Drain Cleaner / Unclogger”.

Blueberry Infused Vinegar

The first project is “Blueberry Infused Balsamic Vinegar” and is going to be perfect for us since we are eating clean and eating a lot of salads.  B usually puts balsamic vinegar and a little oil on his salads so he is going to love this!

Blueberry Infused Vinegar – The Supplies

The items included for this project are balsamic vinegar, organic dried blueberries, a small glass jar and a bottle for the dressing.  I so badly wanted to make this yesterday when it arrived, but I thought I should wait for B because I knew he’d want to help.  Plus, I think I might need his help deciding when the vinegar is just about ready to boil.

~All Natural Cleaners:

All Natural Cleaners

The second and third projects were for all natural cleaners. I have always wanted to make my own cleaners, but yeah, I never have gotten around to that.  It’s one of those things I think would be so amazing, but I never really did it.

~All Purpose Cleaner:

All Purpose Cleaner – The Materials

The first cleaner is “the best all purpose cleaner of all time” and includes vinegar, organic orange peels, a canning jar and a spray top.  You leave the orange peels in the vinegar for a week or two (to get the smell in I assume) and then do 1:1 water to citrus vinegar mix and start cleaning!  I can’t wait to see if this is really as OMGAMAZING as everyone who makes their own cleaner says it is!  This may be an I’m Totally Trying it July Edition item!

~Drain Cleaner / Unclogger:

The final project is the best drain cleaner / unclogger and included vinegar, sodium biocarbonate and a mason jar.  And wouldn’t you know that B JUST unclogged our shower drain?  I wouldn’t get anywhere near it when it was going down, but I would have loved to give this a try first.  I am going to use this on every one of our sinks first though!  I don’t believe the drains have ever been cleaned?  Please tell me you all don’t do this on a regular basis??

As usual, I didn’t do a value calculation for the June Homegrown Collective box since it would have been too difficult.  However, I do think it was totally worth the $48/month ($39 + $9 shipping) price tag.  The Homegrown Collective actually gets me to do all the projects I have always wanted to do which I love!  And, of course, the box is even cheaper if you buy a 6-month ($39/month) or 12-month ($35.75/month) subscription!  If you are interested in subscribing, or just want to learn more, click here.  And don’t forget to use the code “RAMBLIN10″ to save $10 off your first box!!!

Disclosure: This box was received for review purposes and this post also contains affiliate links. But that doesn’t make me like it any more or less than if I paid for it on my own. And, as always, all opinions are my own!
Spread the love

I got mine yesterday and already have the orange cleaner sitting in a jar and the blueberry balsamic vinegar sitting in the fridge. I get so excited for my homegrown box!!! Although to make the orange cleaner I had and extra ball jar sitting around so I dumped the whole thing of vinegar in there (and a bit extra orange peal), since the tiny jar was being used for the balsamic vinegar. I figure I’ll keep that as my vinegar cleaner jar and just add vinegar and orange peel as needed.
