I’ll be first to admit, I don’t love dressing up for Halloween. When I was a kid, sure it was fun. But now? Meh. It’ just not for me. I know some people just totally love it and get all into it and come up with these amazing costumes, but I just never got into it. I *think* when I was younger I used to avoid the bars around Halloween just so that I wouldn’t have to dress up. At least I think that’s what happened because I never recall going to the bar when everyone was dressed up?
But what about you? Do you love costume parties and picking out costumes and getting all dressed up? Or are you like me and just don’t get into it? Or are you take it or leave it? And if you are dressing up this year, what are you being? What was your most amazing costume / best one ever? Oh, and if I did dress up, I would certainly try and talk B into dressing up with me so that I would have a costume partner. I don’t know what’d we be, but if I’m dressing up, so is he!
I love dressing up for Halloween. I do it almost every year. I used to work at a University that didn’t mind if you dressed up, and now I’m at a Community College where everyone is actually encouraged to dress up even though it’s not required. For the past two years I’ve been a dragon, but as my nephews pulled my tail off I have to come up with a new costume for this year. This is probably a good thing though as the costume couldn’t be washed, lol. Think I’m going to go with a classic and be a witch this year as I don’t feel like making anything elaborate.
I am one of those that loves dressing up, I LOVE Halloween! I usually spend the weeks after Halloween trying to pick out and decide on next years costume.
My favorite was a group of 8 of us all picked a character from Super Mario Smash Brothers. (second favorite was Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder) and you bet my fianc? dresses up too!
This is we are Carmen San Diego and Quialman!(from nickelodeon Doug)
We use to have a Halloween party every year for our high school daughter and her friends and the rule was you have to come dressed up. That included the adults. It was very fun- and we looked forward to it every year. And me as the mother loved it because I knew where my daughter was and all her friends were safe. We did haunted house in the driver way- we did bobbing for apples- we did the costume contest. It waas memorable good times. I was Rainbow Bright one year, A witch another, a grandma in a moomoo with curlers…we had fun
I picked I don’t care either way. My boys both dress up and my hubby usually does too but with the scariness that is my front yard I try to stay pretty neutral so that the scared kids can at least see one normal person. LOL
I feel the same way! I always felt so lame when I was in college because I was just NOT into dressing up! I was always either a witch or a cat… all I had to do was wear all black and change the hat!
As a kid I loved it, in college I loved it even more! But then I had my son last Halloween… so obviously I wasn’t dressed up that night. Then the next year it was his 1st birthday, and we took him trick or treating, I didn’t dress up… and the same this year. I think my dressing up days and going out are over. I’d feel totally inappropriate as a sexy pirate or a bad diva wrestler, ya know cause I’m a mom now… and I’m totally fine with that.
I love Halloween, but for various reasons haven’t gone all crazy with costumes recently (I have more fun helping hubby get all decked out). I do wear something…be it a crazy spider hat, a mask etc. so that I’m not “normal”. This year for Mickeys Halloween Party in Disneyland we are going simple…Disney tourists (we are wearing matching Disney Hawaiian shirts, matching Mickey Ear Hats, cameras around the neck etc…simple to take with us, we can throw it on in the morning when we head to the park so we don’t have to go back and change later and it will make it easy and comfortable that night to get on rides and walk around, plus we can layer if it’s cold).
I have many favorite costumes as an adult. One was a dead bride (the face took over an hour for a friend to do with latex etc), Medusa (my mom made this awesome wig with snakes coming out of it that I borrowed from her), Cruella de Vil, one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles…once the Godkids are too old to Trick or Treat (waaaaaahhh) we plan on really getting into Halloween costumes. And you’ll notice…no fun costumes…no sexy witches, cute cartoon characters…up til now we’ve always preferred more scare in what we go as.
I am a HUGE fan of Halloween! Even though I stopped trick-or-treating at 8 (I was that weird child who told her parents she would rather stay home and pass out candy) I have still always dressed up. My family goes all out for decorating (we began decorating in September) and my mother and I either make a costume by putting random pieces together with crazy makeup or buy a cheap costume.
We love Halloween but don’t always dress up. I might wear a funny hat or ears but it’s a fun day.
I love Halloween and LOVE to dress up! Recently I’ve been trying to make my own costumes to save money and I’m so over the “sexy” costumes, they are cute for roll-play but a little too unimaginative for Halloween, IMO. My best costumes have been Vicki the robot, a FemBot, a preggo EWOK (I wasn’t really pregnant), WileyKit from Thundercats, E.T. in drag, and Teddy Ruxpin. I’m not sure what I’m going to be this year, I like to stick with 80’s nostalgia, but I’m noticing less people know who I’m supposed to be since they weren’t even born yet–such a scary thought!
I do like dressing up but avoid the whole sexy whatever craze. One year I wore my old uniform from my server/bartender days at TGI Friday’s and somehow one the prize for best dressed because people thought my flair was “ironic”. I also have a full Poodle Skirt costume I sometimes pull out.
Now that we go to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, we do Disney costumes. Last year, we were both Mousketeers. This year, the hubs is going as Russell from UP, and I’m dressing up as Kevin. It should be interesting! LOL I’ll be sure to post pics on my blog.
Cheers,
Shauna
