Fancy Pants Food, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a members-only service providing curated samples of smaller batch foods.  Each month you will receive 5-8 trial sized products delivered to your door of amazing foods you’ve probably never heard about.

The Box

The box shipped via USPS First Class Mail and took a little under a week to get to me.  Fancy Pants Food is new to the subscription box scene, but I was impressed with the custom box right away.  You don’t have to spend money on fancy custom boxes to succeed, but I do think you show you are serious and plan to stick around!

The box contained some packing peanuts, so the actual products only took up half the box.  But nothing was damaged and opened, so the packing job served its purposes.

The Information Card
The Information Card

Fancy Pants Food has a great information card which includes prices (for the full sized version of the items) and product information.  The October box is their inaugural box and is filled with goodies that are not only unique, but also delicious.  Here’s what it included:

~Madecasse Dark Chocolate:  Can you go wrong with sending dark chocolate?  You can’t to me.  This has a much different taste from your Hershey Special Dark candy bar for sure, but not in a bad way (to me).  It’s got a stronger flavor so I think it satisfies you more quickly so you can east less.

~Big Picture Farms Goat Milk Caramels: I received these a while back in a Fancy Food Box (maybe?) and I loved them. I had kind of forgotten about them until I saw them again in here. And they are just as good. So good actually. I already want more!

~cruncha ma-me Edamame Snack: This is the kind of item I never thought I’d like and probably would nerve have though to buy on my own.  But I like it!  If given a choice and both had the same nutritional content (umm, they don’t), I wouldn’t pick crunchy edamame over chips, but I would buy more.

~The 3 Nuts Nut Butter: Ohh, you know what we need?  A peanut butter box.  No for real.  A box that lets you sample all sorts of peanut butters, nut butters, flavored peanut butters, etc. I hope this is the next new box I hear about!  I’d love that.  Oh and this itself was fabulous.

~The Good Bean Energy Bar: I don’t like love these, but I’ve had worse energy bars for sure.  This is more of a B item and I think he would have enjoyed it much more than I did.

I didn’t do a cost breakdown for this box.  I generally don’t with snack boxes like this because it gets to be to difficult.  Fancy Food Pants is $10/month, which would breakdown to about $2/item.  Some are certainly worth $2.  Some less.  But as with many subscription boxes, the point here is to discover and try foods that you generally won’t find at your local grocery store.

What do you think of Fancy Pants Food?  Did you sign up for a box when they had the first box free code (it’s expired now).  If you are interested in learning more and / or want to give it a go, click here.

Disclosure: This complimentary box was received for review purposes. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received.

Maybe they will do another free box code down the road??

  2. Boo. This is weak. I haven’t received mine yet but I did the free box and its fine for free. I just cancelled LWF after last month because it absolutely drove me crazy never having value equal to price (and goodies, too, long before they tanked, for same reason). I was excited about this one as something new and it looks very… Not. I’ll give it a couple of months though! 😉

I think it’s hard on smaller boxes. These are probably like $2-$3 at least to mail right?

      1. Oh, I’m sure! Every time I go to mail stuff it stings how expensive postage is! I’m sure the profit for the box company comes from getting companies to give you their stuff for free/little for the opportunity of being included in a box… Which would be a hard sell for a new box with smaller customer base…. Idk. One thing’s for sure, it would take tons and tons of hustle and I’m glad I’m not trying to start my own!! LOL

Same! I think it would be so hard!

My husband loves peanutbutter and I had a monthly box that I got for him but he didn’t like it much(they gave him some weird ones) and it was never a very good value so it wasn’t a hit with me, It was through amazingclubs.com
