Not only did I receive my Special Edition PopSugar box (His and Hers), I also received my December PopSugar Must Have Box! I knew exactly what was in the box, but I still couldn’t wait to get my hands on this guy.
PopSugar ships via FedEx Smart Post. It typically takes a week to arrive, but my box was hustling this month and it only took 5 days. I had a tiny silver of hope it would even arrive on Saturday, but it was just a tad too late arriving at the post office that day. I don’t know what happened to the actual picture of the box, but it the contents were slightly larger than the box this month! It must be hard to curate a box knowing you only have SO much room in your box to work with!
The first look was basically as expected, but it’s always more magical to have your box in your hands. Looking at spoilers is one thing, but getting the box? Way better!
As always, PopSugar has their information booklet listing each of the items and the “Must Have” categories they belong in. The December box is described as “the wish list you never knew you needed” and included the following items:
Must Have Fashion:
-Lulu Frost for PopSugar Bracelet ($110): Meh. I’m not sure about this one. I’d never heard of Lulu Frost before this box and I’m not sure it’s really my style. I’m going to give this a few weeks and see if it grows on me. If it doesn’t, I will try and trade it or gift it to someone who would enjoy it!
Must Have Home:
–MIXT Studio Wrapping Paper ($9): I think this fancy wrapping paper is adorable. I may use to wrap teacher / school gifts because there isn’t a ton of paper here. I would NOT buy a package of $9 wrapping paper like this, but I quite appreciate fancy wrapping paper. Every once in a while I will go into like Papyrus and get something gift wrapped. It just feels so much fancier to gift something wrapped in gorgeous fancy paper.
Must Have Beauty:
–modelco Fiber Lashextend Black Mascara ($20): I’m never sad about getting more mascara. I’ve mentioned it before but I am super weird about mascara. If I cannot remember when I opened one I toss it. I had a horrible eye infection (not mascara related but still) a few years ago and it is NOT ever happening again.
Must Have Home:
–govino Go Anywhere Flutes ($12.95): I received a set of the wine glasses in my August 2012 PopSugar Box, and thought they were fabulous, so these are a welcome addition! I read the spoilers for this box Friday night and then right away saw some girl using them at Painting With A Twist! Ha! I wanted to ask her if they were in her PopSugar box, but I knew she’d think I was nuts.
Must Have Food:
–CC MADE Caramel Corn ($4): No feeling one way or another one this. I have gotten some items from CC Made before and they have been good, so I expect these to be as well. However, I am thinking maybe this will be a mailman gift? It’s a perfect little gifting size and I am sure my mail lady needs some snacks for her route!
Must Have Beauty
-NCLA Peppermint Lane Nail Wraps ($16): Please. Someone come over and teach me, better yet, apply these for me. They are adorable and I think this is the first set of nail wraps that I have so badly wanted to use. B’s done with school for the semester this week (yay) so it’s totally possible I will have some free time to work on this.
Must Have Extra:
–Ghiradelli Chocolates (2 bags) ($8): I’m not OMGEXCITED about these, but we do love Ghiradelli chocolates and will buy a bag of them every once in a while at Target. They do feel like a treat to grab and eat for sure. In fact, I ate one while writing this post!
Updated with accurate bracelet price – The December PopSugar Must Have Box has a value of $180. Not my favorite PopSugar Box, but I think it’s totally worth the $40 price tag. I will probably be a PopSugar subscriber for life. I just can’t resist them!

I just got my box and I tore into it like a kid on christmas morning. Even though I already knew what was inside. Lol. It’s not my least favorite, but probably my second least favorite. Surprisingly, I really like the bracelet. I’ve never heard of Lulu Frost and I also have a great dislike for charm bracelets because I do not like anything dangling from my wrist. But it is just super cute, in my opinion. I mean, I’m wearing it now, and I was totally right…the dangling is annoying as all get-out, but I’m hoping I will get used to it because I really like it. It actually helps a bit that it is so light. Doesn’t it look like it should feel heavier? And FINALLY! Some treats I can eat. I will give away the holiday bag as an office gift, but the caramel chocolate bag is mine, all mine! My husband can have the caramel corn. Love the flutes too. What an awesome idea. Those will definitely get used. And I’m the same as you when it comes to mascara, so that nice tube was totally appreciated. So, for me anyway, not a spectacular box, but worth the money and I’m definitely continuing my sub in the new year. I dropped everything else just so I could keep this one.
It does look like it should be heavier! The whole box was quite light wasn’t it??

I just got my box today. I read your spoiler and was unimpressed by it. The box has grown on me. I love the bracelet. It’s not something I would pick for myself because I’m super casual, but now I have an excuse to dress up a little on Christmas. The bracelet is on the lulu frost website. You are dead on with the price estimate.

This bracelet is actually worth $110? I’m shocked. Like I said, I really like it, but it doesn’t seem like its worth that much.
Well that’s what they are charging for it. I am guessing the Lulu Frost name has a lot to do with that. Everything they sell seems kind of spendy.

I’m just okay with the box, for myself. However, I also bought a gift subscription as a Christmas gift, and this will be the recipient’s first box, which I will be wrapping and putting under the tree. I am very disappointed in this box as a gift, because by Christmas morning, the wrapping paper, nail wraps, and holiday candy are out of date. I’m reserving judgment on the bracelet until I get my box…

Sadly, no. I ordered before the price increase, so I missed out on the necklaces.
I canceled my subscription just now after receiving this box. I felt like it was just all candy and junk–thankfully better tasting than the apple slices in last month’s box. I just don’t think this is worth $40 a box. I don’t like the jewelry they include either.
LOL. That made me laugh. I bet January is all healthy / resolution centered.
I also love the bracelet. I rarely wear bracelets (or watches) because I find they always get in the way. This one is super lightweight and I keep forgetting I have it on, which I think is great. I usually only wear silver colored jewelry, so this gets me out of my comfort zone just a little bit. Everything else in the box will likely be gifted, but that’s fine with me. However, I will use the fun wrapping paper to wrap my son’s daycare teachers’ gifts (Birchbox Snow Day boxes!).

What bothers me is the chocolates…don’t get me wrong I love Chocolate…but I can purchase these at any store…I thought the whole purpose of PS it to bring things into your life you wouldn’t normally purchase….I have a three month my last month is january..but I am one of those that if I cancel I will LOVE the next box that I didn’t get…so I might be suckered in 🙁
I think the chocolates were an extra though? Like those Birchbox finds we get?
I’m weird on things being old and therefore gross too-on stuff I do that with I write when I opened it with a Sharpie (on mascara since the tubes are black most of the time the metallic sharpie is best)-then I know not to be grossed out (or to not have to argue with my husband taht something is old and gross-he’ll insist things in the fridge aren’t old when they totally are)

I am less excited about it now I have it in hand. I liked the picture of the bracelet, but once on me I think it looks silly. Maybe it’ll grow on me too, otherwise I might gift it. Overall I’m still pleased with pop sugar. I will totally use the nail wraps (once I figure out how, I have been dying to try them), the flutes, the carmel corn, mascara, and the peppermint bark. The rest will be gifted (the chocolate is gifted to my husband and brother).
Once you figure those out, come over and do my nails!
So I tested one on my toes. (I totally recommend trying this I used the biggest one since it didn’t fit my fingers. That way if you mess up no big deal.) It is pretty easy I just followed the directions on back and when I filed it down it was actually really easy. I am waiting to do my actual nails right before and xmas party I have on Saturday. The design is super cute and now I feel like I need to go out and buy tons of nail wraps (Since I can’t actually do designs on my own nails. Artist I am not.)
How long do you estimate it will take??
20-25 (or 2 minutes a finger) minutes maybe to do both hand all 10 fingers. It didn’t take me that long, but I wasn’t particularly careful since it was my foot.
I use the Sally ones occasionally and they are super easy to put on! You lay them over your nail and when you fold it over the end of your nail it should tear along your nail end. If it doesn’t you just file it down. With Sally once you open the package you can’t save the extras for the next time but they dry out BUT the sally ones are super long and I find that one design can actually cover two nails. Then I cover with a top coat for extra staying power. I hope this helps! My PS box isn’t here yet 🙁

I’m not sure about the bracelet either. Is it bad that I wouldn’t have minded if this box included another Gorjana piece? I just prefer delicate gold jewelry. I know a lot of people don’t though, so I’m glad they are switching things up for their sake! 🙂

I’m actually quite excited about this box. I was sooo bummed about that one with the apple dish and the sharkies a few months back–oh that one was so terrible. However, this one is right up my alley. I think its the 4 pack of flutes that is really seducing me here. And for the chocolates–those are $5, $6 a pop where I live and therefore a little too indulgent for me to just buy for myself. Getting them in the box is nice because I really wouldnt get them otherwise. Also, I bought a second one for a gift and will be getting that fun necklace.

Ok the nail wraps…
My box isn’t here yet so I haven’t looked at these but I have used the Sally Hansen ones before and they are surprisingly super easy to use. I have small hand so I thought they would be hard for me to use but they aren’t. I use matte topcoat over them and it lasted like 3 weeks.
Ohh, I wouldn’t have thought to use the topcoat?.

Just a thought on the mascara- when you open a new one, stick a piece of tape on it with the date 🙂 then you will know when you opened it!
Someone else suggested a metallic sharpie too. Why can’t I think of things like this myself? It’s so smart!

Even though this isn’t my favorite box, I try to go into these with the thought that I might be trying something new etc etc. The flutes are cute but kinda small, but I can use them in the patio or by a pool (should I ever get a house with a pool). I always like when they give black mascara as that’s pretty much the only makeup I use (and I did find my favorite mascara from one of these boxes). The wrap is cute. Not my style but I think my MIL would appreciate a gift wrapped in it and not the standard wrapping paper I usually use. While the nail wraps on not a color I would normally pick nor have I ever used nail wraps…well maybe it’s time to experiment. The bracelet? No way on Gods Green Earth would I pay $110 for this. Probably not even $25. But it actually looks kinda good on. Maybe I gift it or maybe I see if it grows on me. That’s up in the air. I know someone said they were disappointed in the Ghirardelli since around here you can find them pretty much anywhere…but I rarely buy them and I love them so they worked for me. I got the “pistachio nut” version of the caramel corn. I will covet this. I will not share. All mine. Need more.

I have been getting boxes since this summer and this was the worst box! My brother asked to buy it for 25 dollars for his white elephant party (where you do a grab bag and you can steal someone else’s gift)…. I think this would be a big hit there. The bracelet was not a wow enough factor to not include another substantial item in the box… Three bags of snacks? I mean, really? Hated this box!

I just found your blog while searching for other reviews of the PopSugar Must Have blog and wanted to compliment you on your review! This was the 1st PSMH box I’ve ever received, and while a lot of it isn’t anything I’d buy normally, I liked everything in it. The govino glasses will come in handy this Summer at outdoor movie festivals around where I live!
The nail wraps are especially intriguing, though knowing myself, I’ll end up with them stuck to my nails at crazy angles, lol.

I received my PopSugar December 2013 box today. I was in a wonderful deep sleep when my mailman rang my doorbell and scared me to death. I actually had three boxes: PopSugar, KlutchClub and Love With Food, so it was quite fun going through all my boxes.
Those Ghirardelli squares look really tempting but I’ll wait before munching my way through them. I finished off a box of Peppermint Bark yesterday so I’ll be a good girl and not go all cookie monster on them like I want to do.
I’m not sure what to think of the bracelet. The chain is lovely and the charm is lovely but I don’t know that they go together that well. It seems that I more delicate chain is needed. I’m not sure if it will fit because I haven’t tried it on but I’ll check later. I might have to trade it for something else if I can find a trade site. I’ve heard of them but have never been to one.
The nail wraps are cute but I have teeny tiny nails – I file them down to nubs, practically, so the wraps might go to one of my friends or family members. Or trade.
I’m looking forward to trying the mascara. My eyes are mest best feature so I love mascara. It really helps my lashes stand out and pop. I’ve been using Tarte Lights, Camera, Action Mascara that I received in a GlossyBox a few months ago and love the stuff but I’ve been wanting to try a fiber mascara. I am meeting up with friends later tonight so I’ll try it out and see what they think of it. Girl talk! Yay!
The gift wrap will come in handy since I haven’t wrapped any presents yet. When I first saw them in your review, I thought it said MINT gift wrap and thought how lovely that would be – scented wrap – with peppermint, hot cocoa, cinnamon, pumpkin spice, cedar firewood and other scents of the holidays. Wouldn’t that be awesome? But it’s still lovely paper.
The Govino flutes are interesting. I’ve never seen anything like them before so I’m interested in trying them out. I’m naturally clumsy so having something unbreakable will be nice. And BPA free – what a bonus!
The caramel corn will be devoured soon. There are pistachios in the ones I received, which I love, so it will be a lovely snack when I watch tv some night. I just went through a bag of Poppycock Cashew Lovers Popcorn so it’s nice to have another bag of treats to enjoy.

THat’s a fun day! How was Love With Food this month?
This is my first Love with Food box. I had signed up for Walmart Goodie.co box but they went out of business and offered the first Love with Food box for 50% off so I thought I’d give it a try. The one I received is a replacement November box because mine never arrived and the December boxes aren’t going out for another week or two. This one contains Tuxedo Popcorn from Kukuraza, Green & Black’s Organic Dark 70% Chocolate, Maple Fudge from Laura Secord, Ginger Twist Tea from Mighty Leaf, Almond/Apricot/Yoghurt Bar from Eat Natural, Rosemary Sea Salt Shortbread from Dancing Deer Baking Co., Sweet Corn Crunch from Sensible Foods and Sweet Potato PopChips. It was supposed to contain a Masala spice blend but I’m allergic to it so when I chatted with the rep a few days ago, she told me she’d send extra maple fudge instead. Yay! I haven’t tried anything yet but most of it looks pretty good. Do you get the Love with Food boxes?

I received the special Holiday Box yesterday which had some great items and was nicely presented. Today when I opened December, I was extremely disappointed. I really hate the bracelet and it’s way too big. I’d love to get the facebook swap information. I haven’t been a fan of any of the jewelry I’ve received and would be happy to pass it along.

I got mine today. I have to say, this box grew on me. I didn’t think I’d like it that much from the spoilers. But, when I played my game of “what would I really pay for this” – I got a value of around $50-60 (and that is with giving really a zero value to the chocolate and caramel corn) which is really quite good (I never would pay the $100 retail they say it will be worth). I’m the complete minority, but I like this better than last month, I think. The bracelet is my style though – so I really like it – not $110 like it, but probably $25 like it. I’m with you – can’t wait to try the nails, but scared of them at the same time!
