Monday Morning Ramblings

~Monday doesn’t mean as much this week as it usually does because L doesn’t have school and B is off work. Hopefully it means we can all sleep in. WB will be the one to let us know if that’s happening though. He’s sick and, well, he’s super crabby (and also super cuddly which I do love). Poor dude. While the big boys were off having fun last night, WB and I headed to Urgent Care. He has an ear infection and the flu (the real flu not the throwing up flu). Hopefully we can get him all fixed up by the time Santa comes! Oh and one of the nurses at Urgent Care was like you look SO familiar, how do I know you? I was like, umm, probably because we see each other here like every week? I’m a regular! He just laughed.

~B and L (and the rest of my family) had a great time at Holiday Nights and L couldn’t stop smiling about it when he got home last night. It was so cute. If you aren’t from around here, Holiday Nights, which is at Greenfield Village, is Christmas from the past. The Village is basically like a time machine. 1850’s houses, Model-T rides, etc. And Santa and his reindeer are also their which L loves.

~If you are waiting on a package / prize from me, I mailed everything out on Saturday and just need to get a few more prizes ordered today (the ones that are shipping direct) and I am set! Remind me next year to have the 12 Days of Christmas giveaway in July instead of December so things aren’t quite as crazy.

~We haven’t gotten a chance to go look at Christmas lights yet (shame on us) and I really wanted to do it this weekend, but it just didn’t work out. Tonight is the night. Have you been out looking at them yet? Is it on your holiday “to-do” list? Today’s plans also include baking cookies and running those last few holiday errands. Oh and going to the mall with all the other people who haven’t finished their shopping.

~I’m only expecting a few subscription boxes this week (Mantry being one of them), but I have some reviews to get caught up on, so expect to see lots of posts this week! I will probably even get some scheduled of for Christmas in case you are like me and get bored on Christmas Day (we don’t make plans on Christmas day / night). I got lots of reviews up this weekend and instead of making you scroll for them, here they are:
~December Love With Food
~December GLOSSYBOX
~December Kelly Rowland Fancy Box
~December Loot Crate
~December Tyler Florence Fancy Box
~December Jennifer Love Hewitt Fancy Box
~December Barkbox
~December Travelbox
~December Tea Sparrow
I’ve been pretty busy huh?  No one really has been sleeping at this house this weekend!

~Speaking of not sleeping, I stay up way too late wrapping gifts last night.  I was this close to just going to bed, but then when on earth would I do this??  Ahhh!  Christmas Eve is going to be insane here because “Santa” and his helper needs to build L’s bunk bed and basically redo WB’s room overnight (WB will move into L’s room which he is also going to love).

~With all the holiday craziness I almost forgot that the Target after Christmas clearance sale is starting this week!  OMG! I am really going to try and wait till it is at least 70% off.  Then again I say that every year, so I will probably go check it out when it’s 50% off.  You know, just to look.  I am going to try and hit up a few sales actually to see what kind of bargains I can snag.  What are your favorite after Christmas sales?

That’s about it from here this morning.  What’s going on for you this week?  What are you running around finishing up these next few days?  If you are traveling, be safe!

Spread the love

I feel like Christmas is approaching so fast this year! Crazyness. This is the first year where I’m working on Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. =( boooo. My dad said, “Welcome to Adulthood.” (I’m 25, but still. I miss those days! The holidays don’t feel like holiday’s when it’s a normal work week.) I’m glad you’ll be posting though! It’ll give me something to read while at work 😉

      What do you do?

I went to Target “just to look” yesterday and ended up buying Christmas clearance stuff because it was pretty picked over and I was worried there wouldn’t be any left if I waited. Plus I had a Target coupon, my Cartwheel coupon, my 5% from my Target Red Card, and the 10% from Target for “customer appreciation”. So in the end it worked out to be about 70% anyways. I’ll probably still go the day after Christmas and see what’s left, though I don’t have high hopes for anything good. Crate and Barrel is usually our go-to stop the day after Christmas for their sale.

My One Spot was getting so picked over already! I need to go there again soon?…

I have a sick kid at home too. She missed her class Christmas party. 🙁 We’ve been battling a fever for days and now the cold symptoms have appeared…gunky nose, lack of appetite, general whining…you get the picture.

We did a holiday lights tour on Friday that we got as a local Groupon deal. It wasn’t as exciting as I wanted it to be but there were some crazy light displays to see. I can’t even imagine the electric bill for some of these people this time of year! Additionally, the little one was sick and not so excited about it all. She did mention that she liked the last house we saw but didn’t like the party bus.

I was at Target this morning and saw 30% off clearance signs on the Christmas stuff. I almost went down the aisles just to scope out what was available but decided to stick to what I was actually in the store to buy. I’ll definitely have to go back though when there is more of a markdown. We need new Christmas tree lights for next year; we ended up with half a set of colored and half a set of white that were both duds. We ended up putting the white lights on the tree this year and every now and then the whole tree is lit, other times not so much. I also need to stock up on wrapping paper, etc. I was really good and only used what I had on hand this year but it’s time for some new stuff.

Oh, I get the picture! We have the same thing going on here. It’s awful! I hope she feels better soon!

I am going to try so hard to hold out this year. We will see!

Does the Target sale usually start on the 26th?

    1. Jennifer

Yes. It will be 50% off on the 26th!

    Target after christmas!!

I scoped it out and they have a ton of holiday tupperware, baggies, papertowels, etc. It goes fast though so we probably won’t wait until it’s 70% off to stock up.

But since we make our own dog food – I live and die by cheap tupperwares and big freezer bags.

    1. Jennifer

That stuff always does go fast doesn’t it?? You gotta get it while you can!

We just got home from my parents and celebrating Christmas with them. The first thing the boys wanted to do was rearrange the playroom to fit their new toys. Uhm sure boys but I’m pretty sure we will have to do it again on Wed. LOL We are so bad. M and I haven’t wrapped a thing yet. If it didn’t go to clt with us then its still in a box. We will be working on that tonight and then tomorrow we are cleaning the whole house. I have friends coming over Christmas Afternoon and my house needs a major scrub.

    1. Jennifer

LOL!! I was up till past 3am wrapping last night! Ahhh! And now both kids are sick. I’ll sleep again. One. day?.

  7. Genevieve

I brought home a sick kid from daycare today too! Fever, cough, basically a hot mess but she’s still in a good mood. Tonight I’m wrapping presents and tomorrow I’m making cookies and fudge, some laundry and being happy Christmas is not at my house this year. Dying to go to Target and we have a number to go to around here but they’re usually all cleaned out. Trying not to splurge but not against window shopping!

    1. Jennifer

I don’t know what I “need” from target this year, but if it’s 90% off, I probably do need it?.

    2. Jennifer

And I hope she feels better!!

  8. Susan

I can’t believe all 3 of my girls are healthy right now. Usually we catch everything that goes around. I’m behind this year, I haven’t wrapped anything yet, so I’ll probably be up until about 2am. Santa’s work is never done.

    1. Jennifer

You are right, Santa’s work is never done! I hope you, oops I mean Santa, gets some sleep tonight!
