Ramblings of a Suburban Mom

Today I’m smiling because:

~I’m smiling today because unlike last Saturday B and I do NOT have this flu today. Thank goodness. Honestly I still think I am recovering from that mess. It wiped us OUT!

~B and I had a date night last night and went to Painting With a Twist! I really enjoyed painting. I thought I would like it, but I enjoyed it even more than I had expected. Totally relaxing. And honestly, not difficult. I will do a full review / post on it, but they walk you through EVERYTHING and really make it easy.

~The Elf on the Shelf is bringing up Christmas magic daily! He either hides in a silly spot (he heard L liked that) and / or brings us Christmas goodies. So far he’s brought Christmas cookies, a Christmas tree in L’s room, pajamas for both boys and yesterday he brought us gingerbread house kits which we worked on right away! L LOVED making it. OMG. He was so into it. Today’s project is decorating the christmas tree. The least the elf could have done was brought some bins up from the basement, but no. He was all tangled up in the fan instead.

Loves it!

~Michigan State is playing tonight in the Big Ten Title game! Ahh, I am so nervous!

~We got December PopSugar Must Have box spoilers yesterday! Eeek! And fingers crossed we are going to hear something about the Limited Edition for Her box today as well!

~We found a way to get L excited about practicing this handwriting. It’s the “Handwriting without Tears” iPhone app and it’s fabulous. We got him a stylus and he’s all over it. I knew they used that curriculum at school, but I had no idea there was an app until Parent-Teacher conferences. It’s a hit!

~I got my Honest Co. order yesterday and couldn’t help but smile when I saw that they included a tree to plant in the box as a holiday gift! They are right, it is the gift that keeps giving!

~WB has been talking more and more (he’s not much of a talker – more of a yeller) lately and it cracks me up when I follows me to the door and calls the dogs inside. I love it.  I love it!  He’s a wild and crazy little boy, but he is the sweetest little thing.  My goodness he is sweet.

That’s it from here!  What’s got you smiling today?  Any big plans for the weekend?

I’ve heard of that handwriting program and it sounds awesome. Looks like the app is only available for iPad though, not iPhone.

I’ve tried to do one gingerbread house here and home a couple years ago and it was a fail. LOL But Ns school is doing them at right before they track out for Christmas. It goes along with their 2D and 3D shape study 😉 I volunteered to bring in some candy but I have not picked to be a helper. Just so not my thing but I will check back closer and see if she still needs helpers just incase.

You gotta get the pre made ones. I have tried to build them and it’s just a mess.

  3. I see a lot of living Social /Groupon deals for Painting with a Twist (or similiar) – everyone who does them looks like they love them. I’m totally going to have to try it one night and hopefully my hubby won’t protest it too much lol

Be warned, he may be the only man there!

That handwriting app sounds awesome! Will have to remember for when my daughter is older. And I am intentionally avoiding your PopSugar spoilers post! I want to be surprised! 🙂
