January 2014 Bestowed Box

Bestowed, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly subscription box that offers 5+ amazing nutrition and lifestyle products delivered to your door every month – each one hand picked by celebrity nutritionist and author Heather Bauer. It’s $19$20/month and delivers around the 15th of the month.

The Box

Bestowed ships via USPS Priority Mail and it arrived in the two days that USPS said it would take.  They don’t actually guarantee their mail delivery time, it’s more of an estimate.

First Look

Ohhh, the first look was great this month!  Right away all the “Free” coupons jumped out at me.  Who doesn’t love free coupons??

The Information Card

Bestowed doesn’t have an information card, they have an information book!  It’s got product information, details on why they love it, where to buy it, etc.  It even has some recipes in it from time to time.  It doesn’t have a theme this month (I don’t believe they ever do), but it does include some good advice about New Year’s Resolutions.  It says that being too extreme on New Year’s diets is unsustainable, which I would agree with!  Anyway, here is what box included:

~Oatworks Smoothie: This is exactly what you think.  It’s an oatmeal drink!  I cannot get used to the texture of oatmeal, but this drink?  I could get used to this.  And they have a recipe for a “green” smoothie using this, bananas, spinach, honey, yogurt, etc. which I want to try.  I just need some more Oatworks!

~Beanfields Bean and Rice Chips: I love these.  I need to make it a point to pick some up next time I am at the grocery store.  Bestowed recommends them with hummus or with chicken salad and light mayo (also good with greek yogurt BTW) and I’d agree with that.

~Cooggies Oatmeal Raisin / Double Chocolate Cookie: You know what? These are surprisingly good!  They are made from real vegetables and we all loved them.  L, WB and I all tried them and I am planning on getting more.  If you see these at the store – TRY THEM!!!

~Dark Chocolate Peanut Balance Bar:  I haven’t bought a Balance Bar in ages and I don’t know why because I always enjoy them.  We’ll see who gets to this first – B or I!

~EBOOST Natural Energy Booster: I have tried the EBOOST powders, but never the energy shots.  I am going to leave this one for B though since he’s been getting up before work to go to the gym and probably needs more of an energy boost than I do.

~Free Product Coupons: Nasoya Tofu, Reed’s Culture Club Kombucha and Stonyfield Organic Greek Yogurt: I love free product coupons!  Boxes can’t exactly include yogurt to try (how would you ship that effectively), so coupons are the next best thing.  I will use every one of these. Yep, even the tofu one now that B and I have tried it!

~Rainbow Light Counter Attack: Is it wrong that I am actually looking forward to allergy season so that I can test this out?  I get lots of seasonal sinus issues and am always trying to stuff.  Anything that makes it stop fastest is my favorite.

The information card said that it also included some past box favorites.  I received the following items that were not on the information card:

~skratch Exercise Hydration Mix:  This is described and an in between for water and sports drinks.  When water isn’t enough, but a sports drink is too much!  I’ll pack this up for B next week!

~Salba Chia Boost:  Salba (which I constantly read as “salsa”) suggests adding this to any recipe for a little nutritional boost.  I know that I wouldn’t ever make chia seed balls or anything, but I can see mixing it in a meal.

I didn’t do a cost breakdown for Bestowed, but the box itself is for sure worth the $19.  And right now (thru 2/15), you can save nearly  50% off your first box using the coupon code “HELLOYUM77“, which would make the box only $10!  All this for $10 would be a complete steal!
