Carefree Crafts, who kindly sent me this package to review, is a monthly subscription service which delivers fun craft kits to your door every month (or a la carte). They are perfect for preschool and elementary ages kids (aka L) ages 3-7. Subscriptions start at $17.95/month and contain five (or more) complete craft kits.

The Package

Carefree Crafts ships via USPS First Class Mail and arrives towards the beginning of the month. Which is amazing timing because L and I were getting a tad bored today. And all of a sudden I spied this package on my counter and was like problem solved!

First Look

Carefree Crafts packages everything in a large resealable bag, with the craft projects packaged in individual smaller bags. We usually do all of our crafts at once, but it’d be totally easy to do one or two at a time as well.

The Information Card

The January 2014 Carefree Crafts theme was “Winter Wonderland” and was all about celebrating the fun of the winter season (even if you don’t live in a part of the country that has a snowy winter) with the following fun crafts:

~Lacing Snowflake Door Hanger: L and I have both realized that we do not like, nor are we good at, lacing crafts. I think the fact that we don’t really get them is why we don’t like them. We gave this a go though and got tree cards done, which I think was pretty good!

~Wooden Flower Pot Polar Bear: Not only was this one an adorable (and easy) project to do, the package also suggests that you use it for “Huckle Buckle Beanstalk” which is a game that I have never heard of before. L loved playing hide and seek, so he’s going to be all over this one! Had we ended up with yet another snow day tomorrow, this would have been an all day activity.

~Watercolor Snowflakes: I love this! They are made out of coffee filters using markers and a little water (from a pipette). I always seem to forget how pretty stuff like this turns out and I have to remember to do this more!

~Penguin Snow Measuring Stick: L did this one all on his own and then we ran out and measured the snow. Even after measuring, I have zero clue how much snow we got. Some places you can see the ground. Some places is way higher than the ruler. All that wind did a number on our snow. But we are anxiously awaiting the next snowfall to really test this out. I’m thinking maybe we’ll even leave it outside to measure as it’s snowing next time.

~Tissue Paper Mitten: L and I were so excited about this one! Not only is a mitten a winter item, but it’s also the shape of Michigan! We did ours kind of backwards, so if you are outside looking in you might think it’s Michigan. This looks gorgeous hanging in the window and I think we’ll have it up all winter.

~Snowman Coaster:   Totally cute.  L said that I could use for this my coffee / hot chocolate and I can’t wait!
