~So today was to be “back to normal” after the holiday craziness around here, but it appears we have an extra few days of fun. We got a ton of snow yesterday and, that, combined with the sub-zero temperatures means L has no school not only today, but tomorrow too! Woot woot! And, what’s even better is that B has tomorrow off because of the snow too! YES! So flippin awesome. Honestly everything around here is canceled. It’d be easier for them to make a list of the schools that are open. Which would be, umm, none. It’s going to be so cold that we can’t really spend all day outside like we did yesterday, but we will figure something fun out. #soexcited #snowday

Winter Fun!
Winter Fun!

~I missed The Bachelor special last night (Jimmy Fallon > Juan Pablo any day of the week), but I am ready for the tonight. That first night in the mansion is always so awkward. So awkward. I’m going to embrace it tonight though instead of covering my eyes in embarrassment for them all!

It's Juan-uary!
It’s Juan-uary!

~I’m expecting quite a few boxes this week including Hello Fresh, Plated, Stork Stack, Fabletics, Mama’s Got Mail, Stitch Fix, MAZ Box and probably a few more I can’t think of right now. It should be a fun week!  My neighborhood is a hot mess, so it’s possible I won’t even get mail today.  We’ll see!

~So what’s the deal with Downton Abbey?  Do I need to be watching this?  All I’ve been hearing is how great it is and if I am missing something fabulous, I want to know!

Do I need this in my life?
Do I need this in my life?

~B and I made it to Starbucks yesterday morning for our free coffees.  Listen, those mugs were the best thing ever.  We are totally venturing out today sometime for some too.   Yesterday morning we stopped at Tim Horton’s to get the boys doughnuts and OMG you would have thought we took them to Toys R Us.  I doubt we will ever be able to pass a TH again without WB losing his mind.  He thought those TimBits were amazing.

~I am totally loving reading everyone’s goals for 2014 in the GLOSSYBOX giveaway post. Just so you know, I am planning on stealing some of these goals and adding them to my list ;).  Great ideas everyone!

~I don’t know  if you noticed, but added a Coupon Codes tab to the Menu Bar.  I felt like it was getting hidden away in the Subscription Box List and I wanted to get it so everyone could see it!  I plan to work on getting it 100% updated in the next few days, so stay tuned.  Also, I don’t know if anyone noticed, but the “About Me” tab is gone (have I mentioned this before?).  I had some technical issues (I’d explain it but I don’t even get it) and had to take it down so I could fit it.  Clearly I haven’t gotten to that yet.  It’s on my list though.

It's Here Now
It’s Here Now

~I’m going to give it a few more days, just in case, but it appears so far that the winner of my “What Box Should I Try Next” poll is the Social Bliss Style Box!  To be honest, I really do want to check that one out, so this poll gives me an excuse to buy it ;).

That’s it for now.  What are your plans for this week?  Are you getting hit with this cold weather?  Do you have a snow day?  What are you doing to stay warm (and) busy??

Spread the love

      Yay!!!

    Hey Jennifer!

Totally random, but I got a Tim Horton’s gift card for my birthday (last year) from a relative who lives in Buffalo, NY. We don’t have any Tim Horton’s around here, so it’s been sitting in my coupon binder. If you’d like it, I’d be happy to send it to you! Just email me your address, my email is haleymlentz@gmail.com and I’ll get it to you this week!

    1. Jennifer

OMG really? THat would be amazing? My kids think that place is fabulous!!!!

  3. Sindhu

I’ve only watched the first season of Downton Abbey, but I liked it! You should try looking into Sherlock as well, if you like mysteries and that sort of thing. It’s awesome!

    1. Jennifer

I don’t really like mysteries (I can’t focus that much to figure it out) or period movies / shows, but I hear such good things

  4. Andrea

You definately need to start watching Downton Abbey! I just started watching the past seasons a couple months ago, and I am hooked. Did not think I would like it, but it is soooooo good! You need to watch!

    1. Jennifer

I have always passed on it because I didn’t think I would like it either, but no one ever says anything bad about it, so there’s got to be something!

    1. Jennifer

I saw that this morning! So cool!!!

  5. Jennifer

Yay!! I’m so excited you got the MAZ Box. I was really interested in it but obviously haven’t been able to find any reviews! Looking forward to seeing what you get.

And ALSO you must watch Downton Abbey! It’s amazing. Especially if you love the Pride and Prejudice type of movie and that period of time in general. It’s a great show! Season 4 starts airing soon in the US, but already aired in the UK last fall. 🙂

    1. Jennifer

I think this is their first month?

I actually don’t like any period shows / movies at all, but all I hear about this show are amazing things so I may need to try it!!!

  6. Bre

I was so excited to see you in the FabFitFun email today! Congrats!! You totally rock! (Ok, so I may have watched too much Bubble Guppies).

    1. Jennifer

      I was excited too!!!!

I have watched some Bubble Guppies in my day as well. Line up, everybody, line up, line up, line up, line gup, gup, gup, gup, guppies!

Downtown Abbey is great! I received the season 1 – 3 box set for Christmas from my brother, and I DEVOURED it!!! I seriously sat and watched season one in ONE sitting ( that’s like 10 hours!) Love it! It’s a PBS show, so there isn’t any graphic scenes or bad language, really it’s tame compared to other shows on nowadays. It’s all about the characters, dialog, and setting. It’s set in the pre through post World War 1 era England, and follows the family and servants of this well to do manner house. I love historical romance novels and tv shows, so this was perfect for me. Totally recommend it!

    1. Jennifer

Good to know! PBS is one of the few channels i actually get without any work, so that’s good!

  8. Susan Lowry

I am in Indy. 12 inches of heavy wet snow yesterday. No school for my kiddos today and tomorrow. -13 high temp today with -40 wind chill. I am actually ready to go back to work!

    1. Jennifer

I wonder if anyone in the midwest has school today???

  9. Dawn

We have a snow day today in Minnesota and our district just called one for tomorrow too due to the extreme cold. (My kids are jumping up and down screaming with joy right now!) I jumped on the Downton Abbey train last year and got caught up on all the seasons. I love it and I’m glad I started watching it. I don’t watch much TV but really enjoy this show. I didn’t think it would be a show I’d like either. I don’t do many subscription boxes but I did try a few last year. The only one I will continue to keep checking out is Box of Happies. I really like that one. Enjoy you snow days!

    1. Jennifer

Thank you! You enjoy yours as well!!!

  10. Ally

I haven’t seen snow since 2005 and I may be adding that to my list of resolutions this year. On that note, I read through all the resolutions on the Glossybox giveaway this morning too. There are some really good ones! 🙂

    1. Jennifer

There were some good ones! How long would it take you to get to some snow from LA?

  11. Lorns

Today was meant to be our back to normal too but Lily got sick when we were out for dinner last night (started complaining she felt bad then fell asleep at the table) so we went home and she was in bed asleep by 6pm! By 10pm she had woken up with a raging fever so needless to say I spent all last night with a very restless, unhappy girl in my bed while her daddy slept in the guest room. So she was off school today and given that she hasn’t eaten all day and hasn’t got out of bed I doubt she’ll be there tomorrow. A snow day sounds way more fun!

I might live in the UK but I have never watched Downton Abbey, it doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest.

    1. Jennifer

Poor Lily!!!! I hope she feels better!

  12. Mrs. L

Did I read right in a comment above that you haven’t seen the Sherlock series yet? You must!

And as for TimBits? Best. Thing. Ever. I have been known to make a hockey tour bus stop between Calgary and Edmonton at a Tim Hortons just so I could get Timbits (but the entire bus cheered and they all got off to get some too). I have been known to have friends fly home from Canada with a box of TimBits just for me. Tim Bits ROCK! Seriously, it’s a reason to go to Canada. Well that and hockey.

    1. Jennifer

Lol. That’s just not my kind of series!

Come to michigan. We’ve got lots of Tim hortons!!

  13. Rita Morgan

I have watched few episode of Downton Abbey while I lived in the UK. My thought was just not one of those again?!? Then I moved to US and it was a whole malarkey about this series. Decided I’ll give it a go , completely forgot that I have seen a few episode back in England. Now I’m hooked! It s interesting , how the aristocrats lived actually still live their lives…… It s better than any other English series I have ever seen where you have a sneak peek of how ” upstairs -downstairs ” lived.

    1. Jennifer

You are making it sound good!!!

  14. Haley

Sorry, I couldn’t reply to your comment. I wouldn’t mind at all! I’ve had it for so long and have been meaning to do something with it (swap site, etc) but haven’t gotten around to it, and I’d rather someone use it than it expire. I can send it out to you this week! =)

    1. Jennifer

I don’t know what the issue with that is. I need to look into it because it’s driving me crazy! I will e-mail you!

  15. Fran

Snowed in here in Southeastern Mich with ya, but were not braving this cold today. My sons are 6 & 8 their watching Bedtime Story with Adam Sandler drinking hot chocolate, they don’t want any thing to do with the snow lol. We might head to the hill in Woodhaven off of West Rd later tis week if its not too cold. Hope u enjoy the snow!

    1. Jennifer

We went to lunch and out stuck on our street getting out of the driveway.

It’s too cold to play outside though! Yesterday was nice. Today, no way!

  16. Bethany

Ahh so excited for the Bachelor!! If you’re on Twitter, I love to (nerd alert) live tweet with the producers and former/current contestants. Their commentary just makes it so much better. I also love Downton Abbey (and Sherlock!) and don’t typically like the BBC variety, but I like these ones. Stay warm with those insane temps! My sister in Wisconsin did an experiment with throwing boiling water into the air outside and it totally evaporated. Nuts!!

    1. Jennifer

I am on Twitter, but never really tweet. I always find the recaps that come out on various sites the next morning so entertaining.

  17. Frances Tolley

We are enjoying Downton Abbey…but we are playing catch up.

    1. Jennifer

I’d have a lot of catching up to do!

  18. Michelle

Yay i cant wait for bachelor ! you didnt miss much from last nights special although there was a tribute to Gia which was touching 🙁

    1. Jennifer

Some of these girls are crazy!

  19. Heather

yes, I think you are missing out, if you aren’t watching Downton!

    1. Jennifer

How do you get used to Downton instead of “Downtown”.

  20. ashley g

Downton Abbey FTW! Seriously good! I love it and they new season just started and it’s already amazing. I feel like these characters are my friends, and it’s like a daytime drama (but with class and sophistication).

Our school system and many others in Northern Va is also closed for the cold. They literally can’t keep the schools warm enough here.

    1. Jennifer

So crazy!!! So many people are out of school this week!

  21. wisconsin gal

Too funny you mentioned Downtown Abby.
I too have been wondering if I’m missing something. It’s very popular, or – AMAZON.com makes it out to be very popular.

I just have had zero interest in checking it out. The more the hype – I am curious, but meeh…

So did you find your fitbit? I picked up a Flex today. It’s cool idea, and I’m hoping to just have a touch more fun with being more active like a game… I mean -I’ll win either way if i did right? Hah. Even if it gave me a 3-4 month boost before spring – I’m very excited for that. Off to walk… inside… it’s cold here.

    1. Jennifer

I thought I posted yesterday I had found it? I found it a while ago (it was in the bottom of my purse). Then I didn’t it wasn’t charged, blah, blah, blah!

I think you will have more fun with it! It is kind of a game.

  22. OMG love the Bachelor (and Bachelorette) – we even made a “fantasy league” for it – makes it even more entertaining to watch!

    1. Jennifer

      LOL!!! How funny!

  23. Becky

Are you a subscriber to amazon prime? If you are you can watch downton abby on there for free. Warning: Totally addicting.

    1. Jennifer

I do have it (sort of), but I can’t handle watching tv on my computer (so weird I know). I bet I can find it somewhere on my iTunes / Hulu Plus / Netflix, etc!

  24. Jean Marmion

Funny, I had the SAME question about Downton Abbey – had too look it up . . . eh . . . not sure it’s my thing, but all the buzz may ‘force’ me into taking a peek . . . I don’t watch much TV so it has to be REALLY good. (Although, I have EVERY episode of “Freinds” memorized! LOL! That tells you a lot about me, I guess! If you check it out, let me know and I’ll do the same!

Enjoy the snow . . . wishing we had a little here . . . hell, I wish we had seasons here in So Cal – but not really complaining 😉 . . .

    1. Jennifer

      Is it “chilly” there?? LOL!!
