Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription service that delivers a sample box of all things beauty. Each box contains 4 – 5 samples of a variety of makeup, skin care, fragrances and everything in between!  Boxes are $12/month if you do a month-to-month subscription, however, I subscribed last month when they had a crazy good deal going on.  They had a $20 off code, which is now expired, that brought the cost of an annual subscription down to $6.58/month and I just couldn’t pass that up.

The Box

Beauty Box 5 ships via DHL Global Mail.  It starts out in DHL’s hands and is then delivered by USPS.  I received by shipping notification on March 8th and my box arrived yesterday (the 11th), but it looks like it started it’s journey to me back on the 5th.  BB5 suggests it will take 5-7 days from the ship date to arrive which was spot on.

First Look

I was pretty pleased with the first look.  I didn’t recognize a few of the brands in the box which I always consider to be a good thing.

The Information Card

The March 2014 Beauty Box 5 theme is “Out with the old, in with the new!”  The focus is on throwing out the makeup we never use, stoping bad habits and zoning in on our top beauty goal – clean, gorgeous skin.  Here is what was included:

~Jane’s Pick All Natural Soaps (Kind) (~$1): This smells great, but I am not too sure how many uses I will be able to get out of it?  It’s kind of bendy already and I am afraid it will break.  Although, I know some people have mentioned soap sacks, which might just be what I need to get into bar soaps.

~Tree Hut Shea Body Butter (Coconut Lime) ($1.82): Ohh, I love this.  It’s the perfect little size for traveling and I can always use more body butter.  This winter has wreaked total havoc on my skin.  Just seeing this makes me think I need some on my legs.  The scent is fabulous and if I close my eyes super tight I can smell summer.

~Bellapierre Cosmetics Makeup Base ($18.99): This can be used as a concealer, illuminator and / or eyeshadow primer.  I am going to use for “imperfections” under BB cream when I need a little extra coverage.

~H2O Plus Hand & Nail Cream ($2.67): I love this! It’s not greasy and works great.  And it’s the perfect size for my purse.  It doesn’t smell amazing, but I can look past that because it works so well.

~Swissco Dual-Sided Facial Pad ($2): I probably wouldn’t buy this on my own, but I will use it.  My only issue with things like this is how long can I keep it before it needs to be replaced?  I never know and I think I throw them away too soon?

All totaled I came up with a value of about $26.48 for the March 2014 Beauty Box 5.  I am totally happy with my decision to take advantage of that offer they had and think this was well worth the $6.58/month I am paying!!

Do you subscribe to Beauty Box 5?  What’d you get in your box this month?  I know there were some variations, but everything looked pretty good from what I saw.  If you are interested in subscribing or want to check out more, click here.  I don’t know of any current coupon codes, but I will post if I hear of any!

That face scrubber product is horrible for the face! OUCH. It was hard as a rock even when I soaked it in water for awhile. I have the large version for the body, and that one works great for that. Prob will use this one for that as well. You can throw this in the washing machine and keep using it until it falls apart, just make sure it’s on cold water and that you don’t put it in the dryer.

I don’t think I ever though to put something like this in the washing machine. Great idea!!

The coconut lime body scrub is my favorite! It’s definitely my go to scrub!

    1. Jennifer

      I should try the scrub!

I used to subscribe to Beauty Box 5 and what they sent you looks good. Unfortunately, I ordered the deluxe box for $40! There is nothing deluxe about it. Items were just thrown in a box–nothing to indicate that Beauty Box 5 sent it. Also, many items were things I got in past boxes and I haven’t subscribed for about six months! My complaint is in…be glad you didn’t order it.

Yeah they said it was left overs from old boxes, so I passed because I used to subscribe. This new deal was just too good to pass up.

Bar soaps like that you can get more use out of if you take them out of the package and let them sit somewhere dry until they aren’t bendy. Then never let them sit in water, you need a soap dish that lets the water drain or holds the soap up a bit. Things I learned from buying Lush soaps.

    1. Jennifer

Oh, I never knew it would get unbendy again. Thank you!

this looks well worth the cost ! i love a good body butter !

    1. Jennifer

I couldn’t pass that deal up!

Do you know if you can actually use the concealer alone, as a base, without any foundation on top?

    1. Jennifer

      I’d use it alone.

Just a head’s up, the Bellapierre product is best used as a shadow base. You just use it like you would a lip gloss pot. Swirl your finger around and then tap all over the eyelid…don`t rub. This product will look streaky if it isn`t applied correctly. It will do all the things it says but needs to be applied by tapping and pressing. IMO it is too sticky to use as a concealer but it is marvelous as a shadow primer. It also lasts a very long time so it is a great value.

BTW…somehow I have received 3 boxes for March. 2 of them are exactly the same as the other. I got the Tree Hut moisturizing hand cream in all 3 boxes and 3 bottles of Design Naturally Curling Mousse which I am quite enjoying. I have enough shadow primer to last me a number of years!!!LOL

As for the face scrubby. If you soak it really well and then use it with no pressure against your face, it works fine. Make sure to use it in a circular motion and not scrubbing back and forth. Toss it in the laundry once a week and use it until it starts falling apart.

    1. Jennifer

That made me laugh. Did they just keep coming in the mail??

roMy first box was products that were opened and used. Disgusting and avoid at all costs. They were aware of the problem and sent the products anyway. Avoid at your own peril
