You know the drill, I am stealing Jen’s Sunday Sentiments button and idea and making it mine tonight!
~Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I got a TON of stuff done around the house today, which I am so thrilled about. Laundry is all done and put away (that is a chore with two little ones running around and jumping in your piles let me tell you) and I cleaned out the boys dressers and closets and took out everything that didn’t fit anymore (also quite the chore). Oh and I cleaned the pantry! I think B was pretty impressed when he got home from drill tonight!
~Okay, so I tried the DIY Ombré (I used the L’Oreal Preference Ombré Touch which is like $12.99/box) I mentioned last week on Friday (?) morning. And nothing happened. Not one thing. WTF? I thought maybe I just didn’t use enough or leave it on long enough (I left it on the recommended time, but didn’t use the full bottle) so I picked up another box and did it again today. This time I used more of the stuff and left it on even longer and, umm, nothing. Well B says he can see a difference, but I can’t. No ombre for me!
~Tomorrow starts Teacher Appreciation Week and umm, I’ve got nothing planned. I know that the PTO at L’s school has some things planned for the teachers, but I want to do something (little) for L’s every day teacher too. I am thinking Starbucks gift card, some EOS lip balms (I have to do something with all that EOS) and after that? I have no idea. Help me! And help Emily who e-mailed me about it and got me thinking!
~Listen, this is totally Brandy’s fault. I am not to blame if you buy something just to get your hands on these adorable dessert plates! They are FREE with your $125 or more Woman’s Fragrance at Nordstrom. I am thinking the Jo Malone™ ‘Nectarine Blossom & Honey’ Cologne because it’s incredible (and something else small) and then a TOCCA ‘Stella’ Hand Cream because you can also get a free TOCCA hand cream sample with your TOCCA purchase. They have a ton of other gift with purchase deals you could work up and get even more goodies, but I am dying for that perfume! I do really want that Lily Pulitzer bag, but I don’t wear Estee Lauder stuff, so that’s probably not too smart to buy it just to get the bag. Although it’s happened in the past so it could happen again. LOL!
~If you STILL haven’t signed up for my newsletter yet, it’s coming out again tomorrow (or Tuesday) and there will be another giveaway in it, so make sure you sign-up!
That’s about it from here tonight! How was your weekend? Are you watching the Amazing Race tonight? I love this show!
sorreeeeeeeee. But *cough* you can’t blame ME for your plate addiction. My order has shipped, I can’t wait to get my plates! I will go through my Estee Lauder and anything I don’t like I will send to my grandma! But honestly I’ll probably use everything. I love the nail color, the lipstick is totally me, and I can’t resist a good shadow palette. This is where I freak out about turning into mom/grandma (she raised me). But I’m also old enough to be perfectly happy with it!
I just checked and it says delivery Wednesday! That’s like forever!
Ha! I didn’t even know about those plates until I read your post. How can I not be tempted by an orange chevron plate?
I’m all about the purple one. And for my son’s teacher, so far I have a musical instrument for the classroom and a bottle of dish soap. Yeah, not so creative much but there are actually 3 teachers and I’ve only met one of them who doesn’t actually teach my child. I figured classroom stuff is best, he’ll be there next year too 🙂
I’m bummed about the Ombr? stuff. I bought some at Target. Hopefully it will work for me. I’m a teacher and I loved gift cards. We get tons of stuff with apples on them, tote bags and mugs. I have like a ton of mugs (don’t drink coffee or tea). I also enjoy when the students make me something or write me a nice note. I had a student make me a penguin because he knew I liked penguins.
I hope yours works better! It is clearly not as powerful as I was expecting it to be. Maybe I should have used two bottles on my hair. Or left it long??
We have our teacher appreciation this week too. The PTA is doing stuff but they sent a list home for the week too. Each day is for a different thing. The theme is S.U.P.E.R I don’t remember how they made it all work but Mon is take some supplies, Tues they sent home a piece of paper with a comic bubble on it and the kids are supposed to write or draw in it for the teachers, Wed you take flowers and Noah wants to make flowers instead of buy the ones that make him sneeze so I will be doing that tomorrow. LOL Thursday is something edible but since I know most of my teacher friends toss food 😉 I’m going with a starbucks GC and Friday is gift card day so they are getting Target. Not too bad. I went to Target tonight and walked the supply area and mine had quite a bit on clearance so I got a good assortment of stuff for tomorrow. I also got some felt flowers so I’m going to let him make a faux bouquet on cardboard with drawn, felt and paper flowers for that day.
Aww, I can’t wait to see what flowers you guys make!!! I am a little behind on my days gifts already. I may just have to do a one day thing.
books for the classroom are always a good gift. and teachers really do love notes (from you or L) about how they’re awesome!
Good idea!
Last year my sons school sent home a list of things the teachers liked like 20 of their favorite things, and I was so happy to get them a few things I knew they would actually enjoy, snacks, fresh fruit, chocolate fav drink, I put a lotion for one and hand sanitizer for the other and I don’t remember what else . This year The room mom said they don’t do any thing for teacher week. I’m not sure if we should do anything on our own mostly because I really really don’t like his teachers as teachers this year:( if you know she doesn’t have allergies maybe a candle.
Yeah, I am a room mom and I know we don’t do anything either. It’s mainly PTO that does it at out school. I like the idea of sending a list home!!
A few ideas I am doing for my son’s teacher is I am sending a bag of lifesavers to tomorrow with the saying “Thanks for being my lifesaver”. For all the special teachers…art, gym, music, Spanish, and computers I got them each a Bath and Body works hand gel with the saying “I am grateful for the hands that have helped me”. I am also sending in her favorite snack one day and I might take your idea and get her an EOS lip balm and hand lotion. Have you tried the EOS hand lotion?
Ahhh, I hadn’t even thought about the specials teachers! Eeek! I will drop something at the office for them. I have tried the EOS hand lotion! I like it!
if you need any more ideas, let me know. I have a 3rd grader and one in middle school (6th grade) . I am having my son that is in middle school write each of his teachers a thank you note.
Love that Lily Pulitzer bag — and EL products! Maybe I need some more hydrating creme! 😉
You probably do!!
teachers love anything personal like that and that are consumable hand creams are nice too anyone would love anything from your stash LOL
Thanks!
As a teacher, organization tools are always appreciated. We love to have supplies and resources for students but we are not always provided with storage materials to store things in an accessible manner. It might be nice to stop by the dollar store, pick up some storage bins, pen cups, tupperware, and do a little DIY decorating. Maybe make a little set? For $5 you could get 5 storage containers and put the samples you were talking about in the containers as an extra. I don’t even think decorating is necessary, or wrapping. Maybe nest them together and just add a bow. The solution is cheap and I am sure that your son’s teacher would love it.
That’s a great idea!
does your school sell SCRIP? If you do, they are offering $5 cards for a limited time, so there is a Starbuck’s $5 card, a Panera $5 card, a Barnes and Noble one, etc. I bought different $5 cards and one $20 Staples card for my son’s 3rd grade teacher and every day this week we are putting one in a thank you card and he’s writing one thing he wants to thank his teacher for. For example, we put a Barnes and Noble card in one for today and he wrote inside “Thank you for making math so fun and for making me love it.” And then we’ll do different ones all week and end the week with the higher amount card because I know the teacher’s have to buy most of their own supplies. I also donated $ for the teacher luncheon. Funny thing though–when we were talking about what he could thank his teacher for, I said “How about saying “thank you for making me feel so special”” and my son said “Well, she doesn’t make me feel THAT special so….” I just laughed. For the upper grade teachers (My daughter has 4 different 8th grade teachers) we did a different card for each teacher, McDonald’s card for her one that loves McDs breakfasts, a SBs one for a teacher that never has a hand without coffee in the morning, a B & N one for the teacher that loves to read on her Nook, and a $10 Amazon one for the teacher that is always ordering Amazon Scrip.
Hmm, I don’t think they sell SCRIP? i will need to look into that!
And that is hysterical what your son said! I am cracking up!
