SundaySentiments

You know the drill, I am stealing Jen’s Sunday Sentiments button and idea and making it mine tonight!

~Happy Sunday! As you may have guessed, we are in Chicago! We decided totally at the last minute after B’s scheduled cleared to probably come here and then I made a winning bid on Priceline to seal the deal. Every time I visit Chicago it makes me want to pack my bags and move here. It’s just such a cool city.

The Bean!
The Bean!

~So the MTV Video Music Awards are on tonight? Where have I been? I seriously used to clear my calendar for that kind of thing. Not anymore I guess. Does anyone know who is performing? Will there be another Miley – Teddy Bear performance like there was last year? One can only hope!

~SO so so random, but when you are typing do you use one space or two spaces between sentences? I have always used two spaces, but I am trying to re-adjust to just one space because I hear that’s the right way to do it? Does else use two spaces?

~Like a total dork, one of my must-visit locations in Chicago was The Container Store.  We don’t have one in Michigan and I so wish we did.  I picked up a few storage things and couldn’t resist getting some planner goodies too!

The Fun Stuff!
The Fun Stuff!

~If you missed my post on the fitbit group I started (just for fun) you can find the group here.  It’s so easy to get my 10,000 steps a day here!  If only I could keep this up at home.

~Is there a good online site to buy used high-end bags?  I am specifically looking for an LV Neverfull – the big one.  I am not necessarily wanting to buy one, I just want to look and see how much they are selling for.  And for sure not on ebay or craigslist.  That scares me!

That’s all for now!  See you in the morning!

I love the Container Store!!! And the closest one next to us is next to a Ben and Jerry’s. 🙂

    1. Jennifer

I so wish we had one by us!!!!

  2. Jenny

I’m recording the VMAs so I can FF through it. I know Ariana Grande is opening with her collab Bang Bang but I know that from BB. LOL not sure who else is going to be on there.
I’ve not bought any bags here but my friend has and she has sold so I think its pretty solid http://www.annsfabulousfinds.com/ I love to look and look is all I will be doing. 😉
I need to go to my container store more often. Maybe I will try and add that to my few kid free hours. hehe #somanyplanssolittletime
Oh and I saw that one space vs two space thing today too. I would have told you I use two spaces but as I’m writing this I realize I’m only using one so maybe I have already converted. LOL or maybe I do different online vs in a document or something. Who knows.

    1. Jennifer

I thought you were suppose to use two. Where did I learn this at?

      1. Jenny

I’m guessing where I did when we took computers in school back in the day. LOL I know when I had to do reports that was what was required by the teachers. Also random when did they start calling computers “technology”? That is what they call the elective with N now.

        1. Jennifer

          They call it technology? Ha!

      2. Jill

I work as an editor, so I can explain the one vs. two space thing! When people used typewriters, two spaces was correct. But now with Word and other word-processing programs, the computer automatically adds a little extra space after a period. So now you should just do one space. I often have to do a find and replace on documents I’m editing to change double spaces to single ones. Hope that helps!

        1. Jennifer

This is the best explanation I have ever heard! It makes total sense! Thank you!!

  3. Amber

I always use two spaces, I don’t think I could stop even if I wanted to! I’m not sure where I learned it? I think maybe keyboarding class in 9th grade, that was about…14 years ago? I wonder what they’re teaching today??

    1. Jennifer

They taught us two spaces too! In umm, 1994…..

  4. Angela

I always do 2 spaces because that’s what they taught us back in school but I know one space is what they teach now. I love container store and luckily they are everywhere in Texas!

    1. Jennifer

I’m so jealous!!!!! We never none in Michigan. Isn’t that crazy?

  5. Susan

I’ve always heard two spaces at the end of a sentence. I think that’s standard practice. If its different, I haven’t heard about it. I’m going to ask our admin at work because she’s in some sort of state administrative assistant club that holds meetings and offsite conferences, etc. Also, for high end bags, there’s bagborroworsteal.com. They sell and also rent bags that are pre-owned. So if you can’t afford to buy or want to try one out, you have that option.

    1. Jennifer

      See what she says!

  6. Jessica

MLA Guidelines used to state that you leave 2 spaces after a period. However, thanks to computers (I believe), you only need to use one anymore. I use one when doing daily things but if I’m ever doing a formal paper it’s two. It’s habit when I get into that mode.

  7. Debby

I have always used 2 spaces between sentences. That is the way I was taught in typing class.

    1. Jennifer

I think I use two because I’m old??

  8. shannyn

I recommend Yoogi’s Closet for finding a high end used bag. highly reputable and easy to work with…though I’ve only sold bags there…but I imagine they are just as good when purchasing!

    1. Jennifer

      Thank you!!

  9. Marissa

It may not be the best price in town (idk, I’m not really shopping much because of work!), but the website “Bag, Borrow Or Steal” has a great selection of used current high end handbags and accessories! Not sure if they have the bag you are looking for, but they have a ton of LV styles. Also, if you are a first time user you can get a 20% discount/coupon code. Hope this helps!

    1. Jennifer

So many recommendations for this! I am off to look!

  10. Kim Kjerulf

I still use two spaces. I learned in when I took typing in high school. Of course, that was when we learned to type on a typewriter. I cannot get used to using only one space. Two me it doesn’t look write. I like the extra space between the period and the next letter. I guess you can’t teach an old dog new tricks … or they are too stubborn to want to change what works.

    1. Jennifer

It’s hard to break the habit! So hard!

  11. Squinj

In high my advance English classes in school we were taught two spaces between sentences and one space between words. The two spaces kind of separate the sentences.

  12. Kristin

Louis Vuitton – I get beyond the rack notices – they have used but good quality & authentic about once a month – I’ve noticed that Haute Look and Rue La La have them too
I bought my bag off ebay and it really was a LV – I was so worried
There is a LV store at Somerset Mall! I traded a scarf from Venice – it was browns and I wanted the greys with fun colours

    1. Jennifer

Yes! That store is dangerous! Lol! Too close!

  13. Jacquelyn Noell

Hope y’all are having fun in Chicago. =]

I use 2 and that is what I used all through college with all of my history papers. I think it makes things look more organized to be honest.

I just ordered my fitbit and as soon as it arrives I will be part of your group. =]

    1. Jennifer

      Yay! I can’t wait!

And I seriously want to move to Chicago. I asked my husband if there were any job down here!

  14. PA Anna

Chicago is my older son’s favorite place. His goal after college is to find a good Chicagoan girl and marry her. Looks like your family had lots of fun.

    1. Jennifer

      I like his plan!

  15. Kelsey

Sometimes Rue LaLa does preowned LV too–keep an eye out!

And definitely one space–my professors in college would have had a cow if I had turned in a paper typed with two spaces after each period.

    1. Jennifer

All these one space vs two space posts are great!

  16. Stacie

I learned about the single space issue about a two years ago, and have been trying my best to use just the one. Occasionally though, I still use two. Old habits die hard!
I actually buy used high end purses on ebay regularly. I’ve mostly had good luck getting actual legit items. I’ve gotten some knockoffs as well, and the sellers have been very good about contacting me before shipping to be sure I knew the authenticity was in question. I actually admitted to my ebay addiction on my Truthful Tuesday post one week on my blog: http://amateuratlarge.blogspot.com/2014/08/thursdays-threads.html
Occasionally Rue La La and Gilt have pre-owned designer bags on sale. Probably a safer way to go if you want to be sure you’re getting what you think.
We used to have a container store OUTLET near me! It was the most amazing place ever. Sadly they went out of business. So so sad! Do they have a website?

    1. Jennifer

      That probably is safer!

And OMG an outlet? I would have died. I didn’t even know there was such a thing!

  17. Crstina

I am not sure where exactly you can buy used high end LV’s online, but we have an LV store at our local mall (our mall has a lot of the high end stores) and the GM (the big Neverfull bag) is super big, in my opinion. I have the MM and it’s perfect. I “tried on” the GM and it was way too big.

    1. Jennifer

I know once I get in the store it’s all over and a bag will be mine…

  18. Yvonne

Old school is two spaces! I still have clients when I build websites prefer two, but the majority now roll with one. I think either is appropriate IMO.

    1. Jennifer

Lol. I’m so old school. I probably learned two spaces in my keyboarding class.

  19. Lindy

I have a neverfull, but I must say I LOVE the medium size much more than the large. As my girlfriend says…the large reminds her of a beach bag, while the medium is good for an everyday bag. 🙂 As for authenticity, I always buy directly from the store…I’m not good at trusting them from ebay or craigslist.

    1. Jennifer

I mean I want to buy it new but it’s just so $$. Is it cheaper in other countries? Lol. I could travel…

      1. Lauren

LV is cheaper is other countries! I bought a bag at LV in Paris last year and there was a HUGE difference in the price, even with the exchange rate it was a couple hundred cheaper to buy the bag I bought there! Also, I went to Hawaii this summer and everything in the store was cheaper (not like Paris but maybe $10 – $100 depending on the item) then the mainland (not sure why) and the sales tax in Hawaii is less then 1/2 of the sales tax where I live in California! I couldn’t resist …

        1. Jennifer

Clearly I need to go to Paris!

  20. Danielle

Jennifer, have you ever checked out Bag Borrow or Steal? http://www.bagborroworsteal.com

They offer gently used & new designer bags for sale as well as rent! The LV, and other major names! I have gotten some great designer finds from them!

    1. Jennifer

I will have to check them out more. I’ve heard of them but never tried them myself!

  21. Kelsey Ellen

I’m seconding the sell-section on bag borrow and steal
they do discount codes and whatnot too occasionally

    1. Jennifer

      I’m on the lookout!

  22. Pattie

Awesome, so years from now I will be saying “I remember when I used to have to put two spaces between sentences, you kids have it so easy now days!” When will “Technology” Auto Correct my run-on sentences? 🙂

    1. Jennifer

Not soon enough because I have some typos that could use fixing!

  23. Kate

It’s two space after a period. Trust me I learned to type when dinosaurs roamed the Earth (or at least before there was such thing as a personal computer or even an electric typewriter) – two spaces is the rule. Unless we’re talking text speak, then all rules are throw out the window lol.

    1. Jennifer

Lol! Everyone is saying the rules have changed but I hear you. I’m a two space girl!

  24. fran

For the Louis Vuitton bags, I second Yoogi’s closet, but also try Ann’s Fabulous Finds. They do a great job describing bag condition and only sell authentic designer items. Another company i have heard great things about is Fashionphile, although I have no firsthand experience with them. Hope you find your bag!

    1. Jennifer

      Awesome thank you!!

  25. Nicole Hubbell Midgley

For handbags that are like new but gently used, have you looked at thredUP? http://Www.thredup.com
I have bought lots of clothes for my daughter and myself there, and always been satisfied. And they have purses too! 🙂
And you can save money with a referral link for a new customer. I also have a unique code for 40% off for a new customer, and a code for anyone for $20 off $100. I asked in BLE if anyone wanted then but no one did, you are absolutely welcome to them if you are interested for a bag or otherwise. 🙂

    1. Jennifer

I actually shop at thredup all the time (I am kind of addicted to browsing thru their kids stuff) but I never thought to look there for bags! Thanks for the tip!

      1. Nicole Hubbell Midgley

No problem! If you do want that code for $20 off $100 (works for previous customers!) just let me know! 🙂

  26. Ashley C.

I just noticed that they have a container store in Raleigh! Oh man — that makes me excited! Now to convince the husband that we need to go to the mall so I can *look* …

    1. Jennifer

      I love that place!!
