I tried Stitch Fix for the first time last fall and have been getting monthly deliveries ever since. I received my October 2014 Stitch Fix, which actually happens to be my 13th Stitch Fix box! As long as I like / keep at least one piece from each Fix I am happy.  I just don’t ever want to lose my styling fee.

If you aren’t familiar, Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for women. You provide your style, size, and budget preferences, and they will send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. There is a $20 styling fee that is applied to your order should you decide to keep any / all of the pieces.  If you don’t keep anything, you don’t receive a refund of the fee. And if you keep all of the pieces, you get a 25% discount on everything!  Also, I should mention that you are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix.  You have a few days to try everything on and the box comes with a bag and a prepaid USPS return label so you can easily ship back the pieces you aren’t interested in.

The Box

Stitch Fix ships via FedEx from California.  You can schedule your fixes to arrive automatically on a monthly basis or on a date of your choice.

I didn’t even get a chance to sneak a peek at the items in my account before the box arrived.  Once you get your shipping notice you can go into your account and click the “Checkout” link and it will show you a listing of the items received.  It won’t show you pictures of the actual items, but you can at least get an idea.

The Information Card

Stitch Fix comes with an information card which includes a listing of everything in the box, prices, and then a total of how much everything would be if you kept it all (it deducts your $20 styling fee and the 25% discount for keeping all of your items).  Just to give you an idea, my box had a merchandise total of $376 and had I kept everything, I would have had to pay $267 (plus my $20 styling fee).  In comparison, my September Fix would have been $262.50 to keep everything.

Here are the pieces I received:

~Look by M Wallace Zig Zag Border Infinity Scarf ($38): I absolutely love this scarf. The scallop detail is great, I love the color and it’s very soft.  And perfect for the upcoming Michigan winter. Oh and the price is right!  Verdict: Kept.

~Olive & Oak Alvin Striped Long Sleeve Sweater ($68): This sweater is fairly lightweight, but you could throw a long sleeved shirt under it for winter or just wear it alone in the spring.  I like the colors and the stripes and really like that this one is a longer sweater.  I look so boxy when shirts are too short.  Verdict: Kept

~Kensie Jeans Kaleigh Ankle Biter Skinny Jean ($88): On one hand I really like these jeans.  On the other hand I don’t know how often I will wear bright red jeans.  Although, I do think with the holidays coming up I might get more chances to wear them than I think. Verdict: Undecided, but leaning towards keep.

~Skies are Blue Esmeralda Embroidered Knit Top ($54): This top is just not me.  The embroidered area on the top is sheer and there is a also a sheer area in the same area on the back of the shirt.  I don’t even know quite what you would wear under it, but I’m pretty sure you’d need something.  Verdict: Returned.

~Tart Jessamy Twin Strip Cardigan ($128): I really like this cardigan, but I don’t like the price.  It’s a longer cardigan with a slim fit which is great, and I like the color and the pattern on it.  But I don’t know if I can get over spending $128 for a cardigan made out of a sweatshirt type material.  Verdict: Undecided but learning towards return.

My Stitch Fix boxes are getting better and better (they were a little off for a while but I think we are back on track) and I think this was one of my favorites ever.  Had I liked that blue shirt a lot (or had it been replaced with a piece I did like) I would have been tempted to keep the entire thing!

I got my box yesterday and for the first time ever, I am keeping everything. I linked my pinterest and gave really thorough notes on my last two boxes and this time they hit it out of the park! Sorry for the baseball reference but I live in Kansas City and we are going to the World Series, baby! My husband even liked the pieces and the prices weren’t crazy. Very happy this month.

If Detroit couldn’t win, I will cheer for KC! It’s the AL and they haven’t won in ages, so they are due…

For that tart cardi, I don’t know what size you are, but 6pm.com has an almost identical one by tart (actually looks the same to me, but under a different name!), for $50. I love tart but never pay full price. Link below.. I absolutely love that scarf btw:)

Sadly not a XS or S ;(. But that is such a great deal!

Just saw they have Med too 🙂

i almost think that the black stripe cardigan would look adorable with the red jeans!! just my opinion.. PS did you see the pumpkin pie chapstick yet? it was next to the cake batter one at walmart.

Don’t be trying to talk me into that!

I have seen in on the internet, but never in person. I may need to go to Walgreens this week because I bet they have it.

  4. Jill

Agreed that the red jeans would look great with the striped cardi! Scarf is great, too. Seeing the Skies are Blue top reminds me that my Golden Tote shipped today!!! Did you get one this month?

    1. Jennifer

I did not get it this month. Maybe November…

  5. Stacie Seidman

I agree about the cardigan. LOVE IT! But not for that price tag. The pants however, would look fab with the striped sweater.
I’m so tempted to try either this or golden tote one of these months. Maybe in the spring when heating bills are done!

The cardigan is so tempting, but so $$! I need to decide quick!

I think you NEED the red jeans. Down here I would wear them to games and things and you can always wear them with a longer sweater and higher boots to tone it down a bit. I don’t have many colored jeans right now but I used to have tons and I loved them I might need to try them out again.

    1. Jennifer

You are just saying that because you are an NC State fan.

  7. Krystal

I received those same red jeans a few fixes ago and was hesitant about keeping them too…but my husband convinced me to and I’m so glad I did. They are hands down the most comfortable pair of pants I own. I will find more opportunities to wear them for that reason. Just had them on for a date night last week 🙂

    1. Jennifer

I would have never know those jeans were too small. They look fantastic on you!

  8. Jacy

That cardigan by tart is the exact same one on 6pm.com for 49$. Stitch fix is being called out my many on their 150+% markups. not a good deal At all! Try golden tote – I’ve reviewed them & they are awesome!

    1. Jennifer

I have tried them and I agree, they are great!
