Each month they select a curated mix of five deluxe skin, hair, makeup and fragrance samples and deliver them to your door. The Box

Sample Society ships via UPS and took only a few days to arrive.  Very few boxes ship via UPS, but they are awesome.

First Look

We received full spoilers on this box a week or so ago, so I pretty much knew what to expect from this box.  The first look didn’t really make me any more or less excited about the box either.

The Information Book

Sample Society includes an awesome information booklet which lists the products in the box, prices for full-sizes, what the products do, why Allure likes them, etc.  The November 2014 Allure Sample Society theme was all about upping the soothing and protective elements of beauty routine and included the following items:

~Malin+Goetz Bergamot Body Wash ($2.11): This smells awesome and I don’t think there’s anything from Malin+Goetz that I don’t love.

~Reveal by Calvin Klein (~$2): This scent is nice, but it’s not going to become my new HG either.  It’s described as a “warm, sexy” scent, which I would agree with.  Kind of unrelated, but did anyone else used to wear CK One?  Every time I see a Calvin Klein perfume I think back to my obsession with CK One.  I thought that silver bottle was so cool (and it was).

~Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Omega+ Nourishing Oil ($4.22): I love this stuff and really like what it does to my hair.  It really does add shine and I think it helps hide the fact that I haven’t gotten a hair cut in ages.  Just don’t use too much though. Less is for sure more with this.

~LORAC Cobra Mascara ($11.20): I like Lorac stuff and would actually love to see more of it in subscription boxes.  That said, I will probably be passing this one on to a friend because I am in mascara overload!

~MD Solar Sciences MD Creme Mineral Beauty Balm ($5.53): I like this because it’s more moisturizing than other BB creams (I usually end up mixing them with lotion), but it still provides nice coverage.

All totaled I came up with a value of $25.06 for the November 2014 Allure Sample Society.  And honestly, I thought it was just meh.  They started out so strong after their revamp, but it seems to be headed in the wrong direction now.  I will likely give them another month or two and them decide if I want to keep it or move on to a different box.

Pretty lackluster. I subscribed after I saw the full spoilers for this box. So this one will be my last for a while.

      Oops. *unsubscribed*
      😛

When I saw the spoilers for this month I canceled right away, glad I did! I signed up last month for the full-size serum, and I wasn’t happy about how they handled changing the size on subscribers versus what they put in the original spoiler for October. I’m not missing much by not having this box

I figured I’d rather put $15 towards the MSA02 box, since I missed out on the first one. Did you see she posted a spoiler for that? It’s going to be a wool throw blanket, I’m so excited!

      1. Allison

        What is MSA02?

I just unsubscribed too! My serum was missing from the box last month and they could only refund me $5. I took it and thought I’d see how next month goes but this one is pretty disappointing. It looks more like what we’d see for $10 subscriptions, especially with tiny perfume samples every month.

  4. Jen

Yes, I unsuscribed after this one too – last month I was missing an item -the Bond perfume and they refunded me $3 – and this month was blah!

  5. Alicia

A little off topic but has anyone heard anything about the next Allure Beauty Box??

  6. Emily

Keep the mascara! It is literally the greatest mascara ever invented, ever!

This was my first and last box from Allure Sample Society. 🙁 I actually liked last month’s and was hoping this month was similar. Oh well, I guess I will have to try something else!

Can’t say this box overwhelmed me. I can’t use the hair oil as it’s not for fine hair which I have, but I was at least able to give it to my assistant for helping me out with something this morning so there is that. But yeah, just “meh” on the box. I’m probably going to unsubscribe and stick with Glossybox.

One more month, I am giving them one more month!

What a major disappointment! All the samples are so tiny. It reminds me of those freebies samples you get at Sephora. One more month and then I am canceling this sub box if I don’t see any improvements.
