~Can you believe Christmas is only a few days away? Eeek! Do you have all your shopping finished up? We did a little on Saturday night and then I took advantage of some of the free shipping deals online and did a bit more these last few days! I still have some stores to go to, but I still have a few days for that ;).
~While shopping Saturday night I insisted that we pick up the Home Alone DVD because I’ve never seen it (well at least that I can remember). We started watching it tonight and I love it! I can’t wait to watch the rest of them.
~I spent a bunch of time this weekend updating the Monthly Subscription Box List and everything should be up to date! However, I noticed that it’s getting cluttered with closed subscription boxes (the latest closures of the more well known boxes include Lip Factory and Googaro). So I need your advice (and I know you will tell me what you think about blog changes because you always do)! Should I move them to their own separate category? Make a separate section for Closed / Defunct Boxes maybe at the bottom of the list? Maybe just a separate page in the drop down menu? What do you think?
~If you did the Julep offer (it’s over now) for the free $50 Tieks gift card, your code should be in your e-mail! Mine took a little longer than they said it would, but it eventually showed up. And if you didn’t get it, e-mail Julep and they’ll help you out!
~This week’s plan includes that last minute shopping I mentioned earlier, decorating gingerbread houses, wrapping presents and hopefully sneaking in a night out with B. And then of course, Christmas fun! What do you have going on? How is you weekend going?
That’s all for now! See you in the morning!
I like the idea of moving closed boxes to the bottom of the page. I got the julep / tikes code and ordered them last week as an early Christmas present for me! The first home alone movie is definitely the best. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and thank you for all that you do with the blog. It’s amazing and you do an incredible job.
Thank you for your kind words! And I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas as well!
What color Tieks did you order?
I got the nude patent and I’m considering trying to swap for another code!!
I like the idea of a separate drop down page for the closed boxes.
I do too!
You’ve never seen Home Alone!? This is a MUST for me every Christmas 🙂 The second one, “Lost In New York”, is good too. 🙂
I know. I mean seriously, where have I been? I am watching the other ones before christmas too!
I missed the Tieks code because working nights, I slept through it :(. I do like the idea of them at the bottom of the page, unless that would cause ridiculous amounts of scrolling. Merry Christmas!
I think the only thing you would have to scroll past all the “closed” boxes for would be to leave a comment and not too many people really leave comments on the box lists. So that might work!
I think moving the closed boxes to a separate list to reduce clutter. Maybe include the link at the bottom of the page of functioning boxes.
That’s a good idea. Maybe at the bottom of the lists in each category. I want people still to be able to see that information in case they are wondering what happened to a specific subscription.
I’m all for moving them to a separate list and having the main ones just being active boxes.
I think my shopping is done but I have done no wrapping at all except for the gifts that got opened on Sat. I guess I know what I will be doing the next couple of nights 😉
I like to just marathon wrap on the night of the 23rd.
I bought the Home Alone The Complete Collection for my 6 year old last month. He loves it. The only present I have left to buy a giftcard for my mail carrier. Lot of little things left to do!
OMG, my 6 year old thought it was amazing. I think he wants us to leave him Home Alone. LOL!
I’m done with my shopping but still need to finish wrapping gifts. And I haven’t even started my Christmas cookies, so need to get busy! Where did all the time go? I vote for moving the closed boxes to their own list so it’s not so unwieldy (is that even a word?)
I think that’s a word. I know exactly what you mean! It’s a lot of scroll through. too much!
I got the tieks code too. Had to email Julep to have them send it. I think I’d made 5 or 6 orders from Julep since Black Friday. I’m stocked up with them for awhile. Lots of gifts too.
My cobalt tieks are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I ended up ordering 2 pair in different sizes. I hope they work out on my bad feet. We’ll see.
Those deals where they did the free gifts with ANY purchase just couldn’t be beat! And if you are a Maven and get free shipping? Well, even better!
No kidding were those great deals. Biggest deal was the Gem collection and 12 merry nights collection for $25 each. I’m not even a Maven anymore. I was subscribed for the free box and one paid box for May. Then I called and canceled. Julep emailed me last month inviting me to take advantage of free shipping on all orders until the end of the year. They didn’t make me re-enroll as a Maven.
I got that same offer (I was subbed for maybe 4 months but October was my last box). I ordered like 4 times. The best was the entire Gem Collection for $25.
As for closed boxes: perhaps at the top of the page, list all the boxes in alphabetical order, with a link that jumps down the page to its description. That way, if people are looking for information on a specific box, they can find it easily, and find out more about it. I don’t think you need a separate category.
My coding skills are just not that advanced to have it on the same page like that. I could have it jump to a different page, but then I would have so many different pages because there are so many boxes. I will have to see what else I can do!
Can you just do control+F (or command+F on a Mac) and type a few letters of the box name? Then you don’t have to rearrange the page.
Where did you all find the home alone movies? We were looking for them for our 8 year old with no luck. Oh yeah, I’ve never watched 3 because the Culkster isn’t in it
Target (of course)!
Aw, I didn’t hear about Lip Factory closing! That’s boo because I’d wanted to get a subscription for my daughter. :/
;(
