~Good morning! It’s been kind of a busy week around here. We (finally) got our Christmas tree and L and I decorated that one night which was way more fun than I was anticipating. He made me put on Christmas music and then he bounced around hanging ornaments and singing Christmas carols. How could that not be fun? So cute!

~L also had Santa Shop this week which was also super fun. I volunteered there for a few hours yesterday and it’s so fun to see what kids pick out for their families.  If you have Elementary school-aged kids, do they have Santa Shop at school?  What kind of things do they sell?  At L’s school everything is $2 and is pretty similar to what you’d find at the Dollar Store.  Some of the stuff is a “deal” for $2 and some not so much, but it all evens out. I helped L shop so I know what everyone’s getting, but unlike last year, he’s making everyone wait until Christmas this year :).

~Did anyone watch the “We Heart Diem” special on MTV this week?  I haven’t watched it yet, but I am pretty sure I will need to get my Kleenex ready.

~I still have quite a few subscription boxes coming this week including Birchbox, bluumBOXYCHARM, Doodle Crate (I cannot wait to get this), Dottiebox MiniFair TreasureLip Factory, Love With Food and Your Bijoux Box.  My December PopSugar Must Have, Kiwi Crate and Citrus Lane boxes are on their way too, but I doubt they will be here until next week.  Same with my PopSugar Holiday for Her.

~Have you seen this Frozen Sugar Cookie House?  Instead of going gingerbread houses this year I want to make Frozen castles!  It gets not so great reviews on Amazon, but I kind of expect that with any kit like this that you have to build yourself. Those prefab gingerbread houses are really the way to go.  But this is just so cute.

~I will probably end up doing a separate post about this (I am planning to do separate posts on all the Birchbox and PopSugar codes because there are SO many right now), but you can score a free copy of Homemade Decadence by Joy the Baker, which is the Birchbox Book Club pick this month free with any purchase of $55+ at Birchbox! It’s $18 on Amazon right now, so I’ll call it an $18 value.

That’s all from here!  What do you have going on today / this weekend?  My cousins are coming down from up-north for the weekend and we are headed to Zoo Lights and maybe ice-skating with them and we have Storytime with Santa at L’s school tomorrow night. Should be a fun weekend!

    Jen,

I bought the Disney Princess Sophia sugar cookie castle last year for my girls to assemble. It actually went together easily and looked pretty when were done but the entire thing was inedible. The cookies were not tasty at all – very nasty and quite hard – and the candy flavor was just blah. So if you’re planning to do it just for fun it’s worth it (and you may be able to find one of these in Toys ‘r Us) but be prepared that it may not taste good.

  2. My daughter’s birthday party is on Saturday and I got a bunch of gingerbread houses and blue/white icing and decorations to make frozen gingerbread castles. i also happened to find a few hanukkah gingerbread houses! next up: have tom draw a big olaf so we can play pin the nose on the olaf.

the kids don’t care if the cookies taste good or not.

My nieces have Santa shops too. My SIL told me recently that her middle kid got me something from it and said that it was “so me” but that my SIL has no idea how it’s “me.” I’m excited to see what it is! I was just talking to my boyfriend about that yesterday, he said he didn’t have that when he was in school. I remember having it when I was but he’s 6.5 years older than me so maybe it wasn’t invented yet.

That Frozen cookie house looks awesome! I’m going to have to pass that to my SIL, her middle kid is obsessed with Frozen.

My LOCCI box should be here today and I got a shipment e-mail for FFF. I saw more spoilers and it looks better than I originally thought. http://www.findsubscriptionboxes.com/a-closer-look/complete-winter-2014-fabfitfun-vip-box-spoilers/

And my last Christmas presents have shipped too, so I should be done with wrapping Christmas presents soon!

I will be selling Thirty-One products at a Holiday Marketplace this Saturday. I’m excited and hoping to have some success. I will also host our first Holiday gathering on Sunday. Excited to have our friends over for some fun.

I hadn’t heard of the Santa Shop, that sounds like a fun idea.

Yes! Finally a code for that cookbook. I just used all my birchbox points.

They have the frozen castle in the produce/bakery section of my Target, along with a do you want to build a snowman kit, and a color your own frozen sugar cookie kit. You may want to check their so you don’t have to wait on Amazon.

The tree looks great. It sounds like a wonderful time. I used to help run the Santa shop when my older son was little. It was a lot of fun. We had a wide range of prices. I think the only box I am waiting on this week is the December PopSugar box.

I bought a Hershey Christmas cookie house kit when I was at Hershey which we made today. We are also going to a class next week to decorate a larger size premade Gingerbread house. We did it last year and it was a lot of fun and very yummy. The Hershey house is yummy too. I placed an order with BirchBox yesterday. Now I wish I waited until today. I would had ordered more for the book. My older son loves their socks.

Weekend is crazy. My little guy tests for his next belt in TKD. My older one tested last night. Christmas parties, caroling, cookie baking. All kinds of stuff. Enjoy your weekend!

Another MTV star died like two weeks after Diem, his name was Knight, they both are going to be on the new season of the Challenge coming in January it will be those two last one. 🙁

The Joy The Baker cookbook is this months Instagram Cookbook Challenge! I’ve marked many recipes and hope to have time to bake some this weekend. It’s not all sweet stuff either (everyone in the group seems to be making the breakfast nachos!) so I think this cookbook would be a great gift for a cook on someones gift list!
