Box O’ Munch, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly snack subscription box. Each box contains 10-15 snacks and contains roughly three pounds of items. They also offer a Healthy Box O’ Munch ($29.99/month) which is filled with nutritious but still delicious items and a Chocolatey Box O’ Munch ($29.99/month) which is a chocolatey twist on the popular Box O’ Munch.

The Box

Box O’ Munch ships during the last week of the month. I am not quite sure if I received a December box late or a January box early, so I am just calling it January.

First Look

This box was packed full of goodies!  B and I opened it up and were just about drooling over it!  LOL.  As to not be tempted, B took this box to work with him to share all these amazing treats with everyone!  Here’s what was inside:

~Cheez-It: I actually should have kept these because WB is a big fan of Cheez-Its.  Who isn’t though?  I really like those different flavored ones they offer now.  Good stuff!

~Utz Potato Chips: I have actually never tried this brand of chips.  When I want a salty snack I grab crackers or pretzels.  Or salted caramel ice-cream.  I can tell you that B wanted to open these yesterday.

~Now & Later: I haven’t seen Now & Later’s at the store in forever!  I used to love them.  And L does too.  He’s had them a few times and is a big fan.

~Air Heads: I am cracking up looking at this picture because I had to take it a half dozen times because I kept finding more Air Heads in the box.  These are another favorite snack of my boys.

~Pringles: This is probably the perfect size can of Pringles.  I didn’t look at the back to see what the serving size was, but I am sure it isn’t a single serving size. But when you have the giant can, well, you’ll end up eating the entire giant can!

~Crispy M&M’s: OMG I love these.  I may or may not have removed them from the box before B took it to work.  You know, in case of an emergency or something.

~Fisher Milk Chocolate Covered Peanuts: Mmm, these look good too.  I wouldn’t normally just snack on peanuts, but if you dip them in chocolate, well that’s a whole different story.

~M&M Cookies: A total road trip snack!  This is something I would totally (or would have) grabbed for a long car ride.  They are delicious.

~Utz Snack Mix: What can I say, these look great too!  And that Party Mix looks like it has ALL good things in it.  You know how sometimes you pick through snack mixes to get the “good stuff” out?  This is all good stuff!

~Corn Nuts: I like, but I don’t love Corn Nuts, so I wasn’t too sad to see this one head off to work with B.

~Skittles: L loves Skittles, so I saved these as a special treat for him.  I am hoping he has a snow day tomorrow (but probably won’t because I keep talking about it) and these will make a great treat.

~Dubble Bubble Gum: I have never liked gum.  I know it’s a little odd, but it’s just not for me.  WB was trying to talk me into giving him some of this yesterday (he had no idea what it was) and kept calling it “little candy”.  “I get a little candy please”.  LOL!  He didn’t get the “candy”, but it was cute.

I didn’t do a cost breakdown on this box, but it had 26 individual items in it (plus the gum), so it works out to less than $1/item.  That isn’t a bad deal at all!  If your office doesn’t have a vending machine and you want to make sure you always have some snacks on hand, this might not be a bad one to get delivered there!  And don’t forget that they have a Healthy box and a Chocolately box as well!

Utz is from my area where I grew up in PA. I love their Sour Cream and Onion chips and the Party Mix is highly addictive.

  2. mini2z

goodness this is a New year’s torture box!

The fact that D and I are huge snack people, this box looks amazing!!

  4. PA Anna

My boys would think this is an amazing box!

utz is actually from Baltimore. It’s crazy to me that people from other states have never had them, because they are literally everywhere here. They are always the chips served on the side at delis/takeout places. In fact, lots of people have shirts with the Natty Boh guy and the Utz girl because they are basically our unofficial mascots. And you’re right…party mix is the shiz!

  6. Hillary

Well to clarify…they are made in Hanover, PA but Baltimore was the first major metropolitan area to adopt them (they even make crab chips).

F.y.I. The 25% off is valid on any subscription length. I was going to buy the 6 month plan but they tacked on $33.00 for shipping! So, no thanks on that.

    1. theramblingjen

Yay to it being valid on any length! But boo to the shipping!

Hey! Founder of Box O’ Munch here.

I’m sorry you find shipping to be expensive.
$5 a month for 2-4 pounds of awesome is VERY hard to ship for less than $5.
      Thanks for checking us out!

Once, when I was a kid, my grandparents let me eat an entire can of Pringles. The large can. I threw up afterwards. And I have NEVER wanted to be anywhere near Pringles since that day.

I’ve unsubscribed to all food boxes because I was eating everything the first 2-3 days. I’m surprised I didn’t gain a lot more weight than I did back when I had a couple of food subs.

I bought this subscription based upon your review. I got the Feb. Classic and the Feb. Chocolate boxes. In March. 2 days ago to be exact. When I paid for 2 day Priority Mail shipping.

The boxes were almost empty. And each had the SAME THING except that the Classic box had some UTZ potato chips ( plain) that were EXPIRED. Yep, no kidding.

The entire thing was such a mess that my husband said we were ripped off if it cost more than $15 total for the food. Because so much was totally crushed up. NO packing materials used, just a folded piece of that pretty but cheap wrapping paper that goes on before a breakable is shipped. One piece for each box is all.

I did not like getting Valentine’s Day specific candy a month after Valentine’s Day. I did not like having 6 packages of M and Ms. ( Wonder which warehouse had a candy clearance?)

I am so upset, and my husband is so angry. Not only did the boxes I receive totally FAIL, but I emailed them to cancel, and ONE DAY later they charged me $50 for the two boxes again!
    Is that a co-incidence? I think not!!!

Had the second set of charges not been made after my complaints about the TWO boxes I received, I would have kept this to myself.
    But- Caveat Emptor!!!

The company bills early in the month, but doesn’t ship until the last day of the month, apparently. I asked for my Feb. box in Feb. and was told ” last of the month” and by gosh, they MEAN IT!! March 6th arrival date. Pathetic excuse of a company, I don’t care what brand of potato chips you like, they shouldn’t be EXPIRED and all CRUSHED UP.

Nothing in the boxes was whole, and my husband picked up one of those Reese’s Peanut Butter Hearts, opened it, and not only was it melted ( how does that happen when there is snow and ice even in the area we live in which is temperate?) but he said ” This is stale, not fresh at all”.

Box O Munch is ripping off people with their billing and failure to cancel when someone emails them to cancel. I found a button on their site when my husband had stopped ranting about the goods we received from them, but again, they had already charged me for 2 more boxes. I truly do believe that Isidore Fuld, pres. of the company who had emailed me a couple of times about my subscriptions, and who has posted here as well, received my email before the charges were made.

This sort of thing has never happened to me before, and I have subscribed to hundreds of boxes and very good companies since 2012.
