1. If you could redo one room in house house, which room would you redo and why? I don’t know that I completely want to redo any rooms in my house, but I do want to get rid of the carpet in my living room and get a wood grain ceramic tile floor in it’s place. Tile, but tile that looks just like wood. Also, I would love to redo my shower in my bathroom. I know that sounds weird, but it’s a walk-in shower and it doesn’t have a seat / step or anything to use to shave your legs. I have never understood this. What do people do?
2. Is there something you used to know how to do, but have forgotten and want to re-learn? That was a bit of a run-on sentence right there, but mine would be cursive writing. I used to have such pretty cursive writing but I cannot even figure out how to link my letters together anymore. I can literally only sign my own last name. That’s it!
Now it’s your turn!
I have a room in our house that needs to be redone simply because it lost its purpose. It was originally used for morning eating/tv room but we are using the dining room more now, and have two other lounging/game/tv rooms and it just became a dump off room. kids get home dump backpacks and paperwork and keep walking. Its just stressful to look at. I have no idea what to make that room.
I used to play guitar, I brought both back to my house since the kids are older and wont damage them, and possibly even to start them on playing as well, but I completely forgot how to play. I remember some chords and thats it. I would love to get it all back. and get my kiddies into music more.
I had one of those showers — I actually used to sit on the floor. I was about 13 years younger than I am now though.. so it wasn’t that weird.
and violin! I used to be really decent. I miss it but don’t even know where to start because i’m pretty sure I’m so bad I’d scare my cats.
I want to redo several rooms in our house but I think I would most like to redo our bathroom. It’s so tiny because we have an older house. Everything feels cramped. I would love it to be more spacious and I would love a sleek walk in shower installed (but I would miss the bathtub I think!)
I would redo our master bath in a heartbeat. My house has a weird history. We live in a development that was originally designed by Liberace (I kid you not) – the former model home has a river running through the living room. While the other homes do not have this “feature”, they do have some glam 70s features, including gold glitter tile and half-moon soaking tubs in the master bath. I’m sure that was cool in 76 when the house was built, but the glitter tile has lost its shimmer the the past 40 years and a half moon tub is not really comfortable or practical (it’s actually a full circle, but half of it is a seat – so it’s great for bathing a toddler, but not so much for grownups). For a long time, my husband refused to redo it because it has “character”, but I think he’s finally realizing that the tub is totally useless and takes up 50% of the floor space.
My bathroom. Or I should say, my bathrooms. They’re Jack and Jill style, with a door in between the two so you can walk from one to the other without anyone knowing. The one connected to my master bedroom needs work too, but I am seriously procrastinating on that. I wish there was room for a huge tub in there, but to make room I’d have to lose out on my giant closet and that’s just not going to happen! I’d like to put up a wall where the weird door is and put a small shower in the other bathroom for when guests come. We actually had a contractor out to give us a quote for that but it’s on the bottom of our priority list. I’d love to overhaul my garage too. I want to get rid of the cabinets and workbench on one wall and just put shelving/cabinets and a small work bench on a different wall, to better use the space.
I used to know how to draw okay and paint and I keep saying I’m going to start again but haven’t. I used to sing in chorus, way back when I was in elementary school and I wish I had kept up on it because I can’t sing now.
I’ve given up on cursive other than my signature, which is pretty much the same as it was when I learned how to write cursive.
I have a shower like that too and I hate it. I’ve almost killed myself in there about 100 times. I would still choose to re-do my kitchen over the bathroom, but man, I would kill for a big bathtub.
I took Italian for a couple years after spending a semester there and was pretty good at speaking it. However, once I had no one to speak it to, it was long gone. I would love to re-learn it, but I would always have trouble retaining it.
I would redo our basement to make it a little more functional than it is now. I would love to go back and refresh my French and Spanish. They don’t get used much, so the years have erased my mastery some.
On a side note, I was excited to see that I tied for first in the ESPN bracket. I literally watched zero basketball this year, including the tournament, so I guess there’s something to be said for gut instinct. Yay Duke!
I got the third place finish! I was also super-excited since I have little interest in sports —
On a hilarious note — last night I noticed the last two minutes of the game were still on when my husband jumped into the shower. He came out and saw me watching basketball for the first time in this history of our marriage. He was unsurprisingly confused:
“Honey, why are you watching basketball?”
“I need to see if I won! If Duke pulls this off, I will win!”
“Is there something I should know?”
It took me a minute to realize he thought I’d bet on the game… we live in Las Vegas, and while I’m not a gambler, I can see how the thought would cross his mind… According to ESPN my bracket was better than 98% of people that submitted one, so maybe I should have put money on it this year!
1. Ugh. My bathroom. The wallpaper is grandma floral. And it doesn’t even match the counter AT ALL. Not sure what the last owners were thinking. Or why I have done nothing about it in the 8 years I’ve owned it… Maybe after I pay for my new roof!
2. Pottery. In college I took a ceramics class and loved it so much! I would love to get back into it.
1. We rent, so I can’t change anything. But if we owned this place I’d redo the kitchen.
2. I wish I had kept up with piano & Spanish & German. I gave up on all three as soon as the classes ended.
Oh good questions this week. Hmm I would say I want to redo my front rooms. Its a combo living room/ formal dining room but we use them for an office and a playroom. While I like that they are used I don’t think we have the best options in their right now. Of course the playroom is a temporary thing and as the toys go away I’m thinking setting it up more like a Study or something like that but it will still be so open that I’m just not sure. Your tiles sound awesome. I think that would be a great choice for my kitchen/breakfast nook/family room area. Its also one big open space so I need a very usable flooring. Right now its vinyl and carpet. 🙁 I have the same walk in shower with a soaker tub right next to it. I would love to take the tub out and make a large walk in shower with multiple heads. It wasn’t an option when we built or I would have done it then.
Not sure what I had learned that I would like to relearn. Hmm the only thing that comes to mind is hulahooping. I know I used to be able to do it but when I tried the other day nope my hips just don’t move like that anymore. LOL
I would reorganize my office, mand fix up the floor.
As for hair removal, I use an epilator. It lasts a month! So much better.
my comment was lonely over on the blog page!
Definitely my bath tub/shower combination ? need to start over!
Knitting, speaking French and sign language ? isn?t true if you don?t use it, you lose it!
