Olfactif June 2015 Subscription Box – “The Art and Olfaction Awards 2015”

Olfactif is a monthly perfume subscription box. Each month subscribers receive some of the finest and hardest-to-find perfume samples from niche artists around the world. Samples are contained in 2.25mL glass vials and each vial has enough for 15 – 20 wearings. In addition, you will receive an $18 credit to put toward a full bottle of a featured scent, every month.

The Box

Olfactif ships via USPS around the 1st of the month.  If your first purchase is before the 15th of the month they will ship out your collection immediately.  Otherwise your first box will ship around the 1st of the following month.

First Look

Olfactif does a great job with packaging.  Not only does everything always look pretty in that sleek black box, but it’s also well protected so you don’t have to worry about vials breaking in transit.

The Information Card

The June 2015 Olfactif theme was “The Art and Olfaction Awards 2015” and included the following award winning scents:

~Black Pepper &; Sandalwood Luca Maffei for Acca Kappa ($100/bottle): This is a “spicy, creamy and comforting” scent.  It has notes of bergamot, elemi, artemisia, saffron, cloves, nutmeg, balsam fir, damask rose, black pepper, cinnamon, agarwood, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, cedar and black musk. And it’s gorgeous. I’d say it’s more of a cold weather scent, but I am a big fan of it.

~Eau de Celeri Isbelle Michaud for Monsillage ($95/bottle): This scent is “vibrant, crisp, green and elegant”. It has notes of coriander leaf, galbanum, grass, bergamot, lemon, grapefruit, flower buds, vetiver, patchouli, cedar. I expected this to be my favorite of the bunch, but it was a little too grassy for me.

~Woodcut Ellen Covey for Olympic Orchids ($65/bottle): Woodcut is described as “smoke, woods, fire and burnt sugar”. It has notes of cedar, pine, oak, tolu balsam, olibanum (frankincense), caramel, burnt sugar, and vanilla. This scent is really different. Like nothing I have ever smelled before. I didn’t think I liked it, but I keep smelling my arm so obviously there’s something about it that I like.

I still think Olfactif is a fun box for fragrance lovers. It’s a cool way to try a bunch of new scents that you probably would never have sampled otherwise.  At least I know I wouldn’t have!  And if you find one you love you can take advantage of that $18/bottle savings.
