Two questions today…
1. Etsy shops! What are your favorite Etsy shops and if you have your own Etsy shop, share it! I don’t have an etsy shop (obviously you’d know if I did because I’d post it 1000 times), but I love checking out everyone else. And I love just browsing etsy to see what’s out there.
2.Do you speak a second language? If so, what it is? I do not, but I would love to learn a second language! I took French in high school fir 4 years, but I feel like Spanish would come in most handy.
Now it’s your turn!
This is my favorite shop from etsy, I have purchased several times and sent fabric for customs. http://www.etsy.com/shop/HOLDFASThandbags Shes awesome
I do not currently speak another language. I did learn Gaelic when I was in my teens and was fluent for informational purposes only, obvioulsy no one speaks it still.I was very into Irish mythology. I want to learn another language, but I do not think I can retain the info, so I keep shying away from attempting.

This is my favorite shop on etsy. I love making my own planners and her printable a are so cute and budget friendly. She has a lot of different planner options and really cute stickers to print. As a bonus, the owner is super nice and always willing to help and answer questions.
1. I love Etsy! My favorite shop right now is Jean Elise (http://www.etsy.com/shop/jeanelise) – she lives in the same town as I do and her work is top notch. I have a shop, too, where I make state-shaped ornaments from porcelain (http://www.etsy.com/shop/ExploreThisCity). (Could do Michigan if you want!)
2. I studied lots of languages in high school and college (was going to be a language major, then switched to computer science…programming is still languages!): Spanish, German, and Russian primarily and a tiny bit of French and even tinier bit of Hebrew.

My daughter’s the one in the gingerbread dress (and the pinafore dress), and it’s basically my favorite article of clothing she’s ever had. I ordered another one for this year I love it so much!
And I took four years of French in High School too, but I can barely remember enough of it.. only enough to be able to spy on my mother in laws foreign exchange students!
1. I love Etsy, but don’t have any particular favorite shops… Etsy is just a neat site altogether!
2. I can understand and read Spanish for the most part, but I rarely attempt to speak it unless I’m visiting Mexico or another Spanish speaking country. However, my husband speaks French (we live in Texas, I don’t know why he thought learning French would be a life skill) so I often I have to translate Spanish for him. He knows a little, by default – TexMex anyway, but usually looks at me when he gets lost.
I have 2 etsy shops, one where I sell soaps and home accessories: etsy.com/shop/michelleruffdesigns
and one where I just started making planner printables and decorative prints. I plan to add on more designs soon: etsy.com/shop/peppersprintables
I took 5 years of French, I can read it somewhat, but no way could I speak it. Living in Southern California, I wish I’d taken Spanish.
One of my favorites is http://www.etsy.com/shop/bluedogrose – she does really delightful drawings and paintings of animals (esp rabbits) and has done a couple of super cool tarots. Even though I don’t do tarot – at least not yet – I’ve picked up all of her card sets because I love the artwork.
I took four years of French in school, which was enough to place a rudimentary order at a food stand in Paris earlier this year and have a fragmented but delightful conversation with a French woman later in the trip. She spoke even less English than I spoke French, but we got our points across. 🙂
Of course I’m partical to my own Etsy store.
http://www.etsy.com/shop/MegansSoapbox
I found this great shop that has small safes made out of old PO Box doors. I’m thinking about getting a few for my boys this Christmas.

Sorry partial,
I took 6 years if French. I can read it somewhat but never really learned to speak it. When I’ve been to Mexico I start speaking French (somewhat) when trying to say things in Spanish!
Like Michelle I’m in SoCal and I’m sure Spanish would have been a better choice!
1. I don’t have a favorite Etsy shop, I just like the whole site. If I have something I’m looking for, I can usually find it.
2. I speak/read/write Spanish and French, fluently. My degree from college is in Modern Languages and Literature so most of my college experience was in a different language. The French doesn’t get used very often, but living in California I use Spanish daily at work.
1, favorites (I’m NOT creative)
http://www.etsy.com/shop/fabricjunkie1640 – super fast shipping of awesome pillow covers
http://www.etsy.com/shop/BeeAlwaysBlooming?ref=l2-shopheader-name – beautiful artwork (I have an original)
http://www.etsy.com/shop/SunshinedayDesigns?ref=l2-shopheader-name unique seaglass jewelry and also makes custom pieces!
2. Not really – I can understand French and Italian – we had French daily from grade 1-8 – it’s been reduced to grades 4-8 and it’s manditory in grade 9 in all high schools –
I have an etsy shop! lollyjodesigns.com
Unfortunately, I’m on a break right now while we pack up our house to move 🙂
I do not speak a second language, but I’m working on trying Spanish again. I wish I would have applied myself more the two years I took it in high school. I did just enough to get an A, then forget it. :/ I really like the app called Duolingo (free!)
Hablo espanol! I am currently taking Spanish in college as I requirement for my BA degree. I am a year and a half in and still have 2 more difficult classes to go ! Even though I often complain about how I hate learning Spanish because its a very tough class, I am glad my college forces us to learn it. I just wish it wasn’t a full 2 years ! Also they teach us very formal Spain Spanish, which is different from what is now spoken on the street. Both my mom and grandma speak Spanish, as they lived in Mexico, and they often get frustrated when seeing my homework. It’s comparable to the difference between old English and how we speak English now.
I speak spanish. Took in school but that was useless for actual convoy when spanish speaking ppl moved to our area, so my husband and I learned to support bible study in spanish.
I find etsy overwhelming personally…kinda like why I am not a huge Pinterest fan. My favorite etsy order was from a shop called The Gifted Pepper and was comprised of functional planning printables
YES! I love this question and sharing Etsy shops, I’m gonna check these out! Here are my favorites (I have many…eeek!):
http://www.etsy.com/shop/AkabiSelectboutique (She makes custom clothing, I use her for Disney outfits for my daughter)
http://www.etsy.com/shop/StudioMucci (decorative tassels- wall decor)
http://www.etsy.com/shop/neenacreates (book quotes on clothing)
http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheBowMama (Disney ears- she is the BEST!)
http://www.etsy.com/shop/KickinLegs (Custom leggings for babies, kids and moms)
After I did a semester in Florence, Italy I took a few semesters of Italian. I got pretty good at it, but like most foreign languages, you don’t retain it if you don’t speak it often enough.
I may have gotten carried away, lol….
1) Yes,http://www.etsy.com/shop/cara11286. 2), Exact same answer as yours
My very favorite etsy store is:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/HOBKNOBINWITHGAIL
I LOVE all the unique knobs and hardware, and the shop owner is amazing and such a sweetheart! INSTANT delivery. Check it out!
I look at etsy probably 2000x more than I buy from there.. I haven’t made any purchases in years. There was a lady who turned regular band t-shirts into cute girly-cut t-shirts but then she moved onto making really pretty regular clothing. I think I bought a cute kind of corset (no boning or anything though) that I have seriously never worn. I want to say it was like $50 too, haha. Another corset type shirt that I did wear a lot when I was thinner (and younger) and a matching skirt that I sold for more than I paid. And long ago I ordered some earrings for my niece that I never got- IIRC, I even messaged them and they said they’d ship another pair and I don’t remember receiving those either. But I have been browsing for Christmas list ideas for myself… My boyfriend (and his parents) usually gets me stuff from REI but since I work there now it’s not money-wise to let that happen, and I’m kind of getting bored with makeup (partly from birchbox) so I’m really struggling for ideas.
I can understand some German and Spanish (I took half a year of German in HS and a few years of Spanish in elementary-middle school), enough to piece together what someone’s trying to say to me (or about me) but not enough where I’d feel comfortable speaking in a country where those were the main dialects. I’d like to learn more, and sign language, but I’m lazy.
Oh, also re: etsy… A while ago, I saw some awesome stickers on there that I wanted but by the time I got around to making the purchase, the seller was on vacation/not selling. I messaged them asking when they’d get back so I could buy them and they offered to send me some for free! I was happy but it’s been probably a month now and no stickers.. I don’t want to message them and be like “hey, where’s my free stuff?!?” but they’re back now.. and don’t offer the stickers anymore. 🙁
