The March 2018 Piquant Post included the following items:
~Provence Rose: Provence Rose is a combination of Rosa & Centifolia. The included recipe for this spice is Vanilla Ice Cream with Rosewater. You start by boiling and then sweeten the resulting tea with sugar, honey, or agave nectar.
~Zaatar: Zaatar is a blend of thyme, which provides a subtle woodsy-minty flavor; sumac, which provides a lovely tartness; marjoram, which adds a hint of sweetness; and sesame seeds for a nutty note. The Piquant Post recipe is Zaatar Roasted Chicken. If that doesn’t sound appealing you can use it on just about anything else from roast meats to vegetables, stews to sauces, popcorn to pizza. It even works well mixed with extra virgin olive oil to provide a burst of flavor on a pita or crusty bread
~Spicy Mint Blend: This Spicy Mint Blend is a blend of spearmint, smoked paprika, cayenne, cumin, and coriander. The included recipe is for a vegan Lebanese Moussaka. The recipe calls for 2 tbsp of the Spicy Mint Blend, but if you can’t handle the spicy heat, they suggest you reduce the amount of Spicy Mint blend to 1/2 tsp.
~Baharat (7 Spice): The final spice was Baharat, also known as 7 Spice, which is a blend of black pepper, coriander, allspice, cumin, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. The recipe is for Lamb Baharat, which is the one I most want to try! It looks amazing!
