So I’ve been slowing getting back into couponing and it’s got me wondering, who else is into it? I feel like it’s something people are either super into or just skip all together. It’s time consuming both at home and at the store. I’m not talking like extreme couponing like the tv show either either, just regular old sitting at the table clipping coupons that come in your Sunday paper, printing them online, etc.   And then when you get to the store, you gotta be careful to get exactly what’s on the coupon or it doesn’t work!

I’ve gotten tons of free stuff using coupons like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, etc. which is awesome, but sadly most coupons are for prepackaged items, not fruits and veggies and all that! Still, if I can save a bit on a box of popsicle, I’m all over that!

So, do you do coupon? Or is it just too much of a pain?  Or do you wish you couponed but just don’t know where to start?

    Not only do I coupon, I extreme coupon. How else could I afford my subscription box addiction? Why pay more than I have to? Money’s tight for everyone!

    I love couponing! I’m not one of those extreme couponers, but I love it and I take the money I save each grocery trip and put it in savings.

    It is a lot of work and I used to think that there were only coupons for prepackaged unhealthy food, but its not true. The more you do it you learn the pattern of companies and who puts out what. Some blogs link up the actual coupon to the weekly ads for you so all you have to do it click the link and print. Its easier than you think.

    My mom is a coupon queen – seriously – we grew up with it in the 90’s and she was even interviewed for a Joan London special. She has a brand new book out – you have to check it out – all about the crazy store promotions, people who actually went to jail in the 80’s for redeeming millions of dollars worth of fake coupons, etc. ! Surprisingly, I don’t use coupons much. I don’t live around a town with the “good” stores and find that most coupons for food are typically for junk food.

    I said Yes but I’ve been bad about it lately. Like you I’m slowly getting back into it. I used to be so good not extreme or anything but I was happy with what I saved. I just need to start doing it again. Its on my kids back to school list of things to work on.

    My SIL got me into it and I’m obsessed now. I tend to just hit the drugstores and Target too! I hear you though on coupons for prepackaged stuff. I try to steer clear of junk food like that. More and more produce and organic companies are offering coupons. Earthbound Organic, Dole, Driscolls, Chiobani and YoBaby are a few that come to mind. Check out individual websites for coupons. Hope that helps you get back on the saving train!

    I clip the coupons and either leave them at home or remember that they are in my purse as soon as I pay! Am I the only person that does that?

      @Suzanne: basically every time.

    I cut out coupons while watching TV, so it doesn’t seem like a chore. My problem is remembering to use them! I have a cute little coupon folder that I carry in my purse, but it’s been awhile since I’ve remembered to check it before I go to the grocery store. Think part of the problem is that my new food store doesn’t double the coupons, so I lost that incentive. 🙁

    I’ve been couponing for years and love it. The problem that I have is that I can’t get the same deals that the extreme couponers get b/c the stores where I live have CRAZY RIGID coupon policies. And to top it off, our Kroger store stopped doubling on July 1st; sad times. 🙁

    I tried to get into it a couple years ago in college. I did pretty good for like a month, but it’s too time consuming for homework and working. Now that I’m in school and working full time it just isn’t going to happen. Although if I see a coupon for a certain brand we use all the time and its higher value I may clip that single coupon. Maybe in four-five years when I’m officially done with school I’ll give it another try. I love the idea of saving money. 🙂

    I have been trying to coupon, some days are better then others. I kinda stoped for about 3 months, (It was to hard being nine months pregnant and then recovering form a c-section) but I am trying to start again. I am not a extreme couponer but I love it when I get a good deal. A few months ago I went to CVS and got 3 packages of diapers, 5 12-pack of soda, two cans of shaving cream, and shampoo, I paid $30 for it all!! Since you want to do more couponing and I know how much you love Target you might like this site, it is called Totally Target (http://www.totallytarget.com/) and it is all about finding deals at Target and how to use and stack coupons.

    I totally used to coupon. But the papers would build up and cause more clutter. Ugh. So I’ve cut back a LOT.

    I used to, and I got amazing deals at CVS. Since becoming a mom though, I just don’t want to spend the time staying organized, clipping, and running to CVS before the deals run out.
