Tuesdays Troubles

It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Troubles. I’ve said it before, but this should be named “things i’m annoyed / confused / want to complain about”, however I couldn’t figure out how to make any of those into a snappy title, so Tuesday Troubles it is. And yes, I do realize that these aren’t true “troubles”. I know that many of these for sure could be defined as first world problems!

~This is becoming more and more frequent, but it drives me totally crazy when I cannot find a phone number for a company. No, I don’t want to e-mail you with my issue / question. I would love to pick up my phone and CALL you so that we can get this resolved today instead of sending each other e-mails for the next two weeks. As long as there will eventually be a person on the other end of the phone, I can even tolerate having to listen to all those computer “options” I can select from. But having to hunt high and low for a phone number?  That’s troubling!

~So yesterday WB had his 18 month-old well visit.  And let me just say that I LOVE the boys pediatrician (and most of the other pedis there actually), but yesterday?  I think I waited for over 45 minutes to be seen.  Couldn’t someone just, oh, I don’t know, call me and let me know they are running late?  Because if I am like 5 minutes late to the doctor, it’s the worst thing ever and I lose my appointment.  Does anyone have a doctor’s office or a salon that actually does call when they are running late?  Anyone?

~Speaking of the doctor’s office yesterday, one of the nurses was telling me how they were going “paper free” as he handed me a pile of things to sign.   We both laughed and he said it’s causing then to use more paper than they originally did before the switch.  LOL.   And they had the wrong “paperless” paperwork ready for me.  (They had L’s stuff, but it was WB’s appointment).

~Auto correct on my iPhone has been kicking my butt lately.  And my mom’s for that matter.  I got the most hysterical (complete with dirty words) text from her when we were in Chicago that I knew was a total auto-correct issues, but still made me laugh.  I usually catch mine before they go out, but I’m highly entertained when I get a get one.  Did auto-correct change when iOS7 launched??

~And I know it’s not till next weekend, but am I the only one dreading “Fall Back”.  Ugh.  I do not want to it get dark at 6pm.  I do not.

That’s it from here for now! What’s troubling you today?

My dr is paperless too and we actually fill out our paperwork online before we leave and if you didn’t they give you a laptop to fill it out in the office while you wait. The only paper I actually see is the one where I sign that says if insurance doesn’t pay I have too 😉 Works out pretty well expecially when you get the the what can you kid do kindof tests we have to fill out for yearly visits.

    1. Jennifer

Oh we are NOT that advanced here. Nothing like that. Which is probably why there is still a ton of paper.

The phone number problem is so troubling to me. I feel like if I pay someone for something (service or product) I should be able to talk to them. It’s sketchy.

    1. Jennifer

Even the bigger companies are harder and harder to contact. I wanted to call UVerse the other day and it took me forever to find a number of their site!

I agree with the whole phone number thing. i just recently noticed that with Mouth. They have no phone number ANYWHERE, not even on the credit card transaction!! And, you can call Fancy if you have a problem, but they tell you they will email you back and then I swear they have a rule where they will only respond to an email once a day. It took 3 weeks to find out they forgot to ship my box. Once they figured it out (after 3 weeks of emails!!) they told me it was too late to ship the forgotten box! WTH?!?! Sorry for the rant…lol…sore subject 🙂

      1. Jennifer

What’s Mouth? I had trouble with Fancy a few months back. I got double billed and it was so confusing to try to explain in e-mail. It took ages to resolve!

        1. Kindra

Mouth is a indie food company that I am obsessed with! They used to be called new york mouth. A lot of the cool foods we get in our subscription boxes are sold there 🙂

          1. Jennifer

Ohh, okay! I know New York Mouth, but I didn’t release they had a new name. Clearly I haven’t been on there lately. But they have so much cool stuff!

I swear autocorrect changed..cause it has been out of control. My obgyn does call if she is running behind, which has actually only happened to me once in the 5 years I’ve gone to her and she delivers all her own babies!! And her office is even like 10 minutes from the hospital she delivers at.

    1. Jennifer

Wow! She sounds like a great doctor!

  4. Dani

I might just have to upgrade for the dirty autocorrect!

    1. Jennifer

      You should.

I live just west of the eastern time zone, so I’m in central time zone and it already gets dark at 6pm. When the time changes, it’ll start getting dark around 4/4:30 and then be dark around 5/5:30. I hate it. And I live pretty far south, so we don’t get as much sunlight as the folks up north get. Ugh!

    1. Jennifer

Ahhhh, that is awful! It does stay lighter a little later than that here. But I always hated driving home from work in the winter when it was already dark out. That was awful.

My clinic calls occasionally? For my department specifically, yes. But for just regular dr appointments, I don’t think so. I know I have to sit and wait sometimes, but USUALLY I have the nurse call me at my desk so I can just wait here rather than in the waiting room (like for personal appointments for myself).

And we are far from paperless….we have an electronic health records system, but there are still massive amount of paper (staring at one right now on my desk).

    1. Jennifer

I know they are working towards the electronic health records, but it’s got to be SO hard. THere is so much stuff they print.

  7. Jen

Hahaha the paperless concept cracks me up!

    1. Jennifer

We used to talk about it at work. Never happened.

  8. Kristen

I thought I was crazy! I noticed that when I updated to iOS7 it seemed like the auto-correct function was all out of wack. Glad to know it’s not just me. 🙂

    1. Jennifer

OMG seriously. I am so glad it’s not just me too!

  9. Tabitha

I totally hate when companies don’t list phone numbers! What’s the point of countless emails when an issue can be resolved with ONE phone call. Just sayin’.

    1. Jennifer

      I hear you!

  10. Mary

I ave never had a dr. Call me for being late. What I hate more than waiting in he waiting room for 45 min is waiting in the exam room for 45 min. I’ve had to go get a nurse before to ask I they remembered I was in there. Sooo awkward. My MIL owns a salon and she will call clients if she is running late. 🙂

    1. Jennifer

That is awkward! I have actually done the same! Like umm, HELLO I am in here.

  11. Cristina

My auto-correct is out of whack too! Especially I’m noticing the space bar doesn’t like to work so I end up with a word that is an entire sentence horribly misspelled. It also doesn’t seem to add words you use a lot anymore, because it now corrects my name to the wrong spelling when it used to know it. AND today all my contacts mysteriously disappeared. Gone. Poof.

Also, go electronic health records!! I’m currently in college for a Health Informatics degree and learning all about them, the good, the bad, and the ugly 😀

    1. Jennifer

I suspect in a few years it’s going to be amazing!

I am so glad other people are noticing this auto correct thing too! Mine is so crazy lately!

My friend has an attractive mother. She was telling me some 80 year old guy was hitting on her mom. So I texted “Oh. Awkward. Your mom is kind of a hottie though.” But what it came through as instead was “Your mom is kind of a horror though.”! WHAT?! Luckily I caught it right away and was able to text her that I meant hottie. Talk about awkward.

    1. Jennifer

      LOL!!!!!!!!!!! How funny!!!!

  13. Mrs. L

My auto correct is off too. It will underline a misspelled word but if I don’t correct it right then before going on to the next word, the red underline goes away. I’m sending really horrible texts.

My hairdresser usually calls if he’s going to be more than say 15 minutes late. He will also call and let me know I can come earlier if he is actually ahead of time.

    1. Jennifer

I wonder what’s up with it?? My texts have also been (extra) horrible!

  14. Alexia561

I’ve never had a doctor’s office call to let me know he’s running late, but heaven forbid if you aren’t early for your appt!

My new doctor had me fill out all of my info online before my appt, but then handed me a clipboard-full of paperwork to fill out when I checked in. I pointed out that it was the same thing I filled out online, but she just shrugged and asked me to fill everything out. They never caught that I didn’t sign that I read the privacy notice, as they didn’t include the notice. I felt like such a rebel! *L*

    1. Jennifer

Good thing you filled that stuff out online huh? I hate when they give me a copy of the privacy laws at every appointment. I know they have to, but still. WB goes every 3 months. I think I am set on that.

I guess I’m the only one looking forward to the time change. I LOVE Fall Back because I hate sunlight. Seriously, I’m like a vampire, so the earlier it gets dark, the happier I am. I HATED when they changed to the shorter Fall Back period. They just need to get rid of Daylight Saving Time completely cause all it does it make people have issues with lost productivity due to all the switching back and forth!

    Cheers,
    Shauna

    1. Jennifer

Ha! Really? You don’t feel more active when it’s sunny and bright out?

      1. Shauna

No, as I actually get the most done between 8 and 11pm. See? Total vampire!

        Cheers,
        Shauna

Our vet actually calls us to let us know they’re running behind. My little man had a post-surgery check-up scheduled one afternoon, and a vet tech called us at least five hours beforehand to let us know that they’d just taken in three emergencies, and asked us if we could show up a couple of hours later than what we were scheduled for. Absolutely loved that they valued our time.

And I’m also dreading falling back. We recently moved from Eastern Standard Time to Central Time, so I’m already dealing with being an hour behind as it is. Ugh!

    1. Jennifer

Did you move or are you in an area of the country that changed?

That is great about your vet! It’s hard to wait at the vet with a stressed out pet. But if they were 5 hours behind, they better of called!
