A New Year’s Eve Poll!

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
Not only did Christmas sneak up on me, but New Year’s did as well! We don’t have any plans to go out here, but I want to hear what everyone is has planning for New Year’s Eve! Are you going out? Staying in? Having people over? Tell me everything!

Back when I was younger (and could bounce back from a wild night out much more quickly), I would go out and live it up on NYE. Now? Not so much! I am working on a NYE box for L (and WB too) to open with noise makers, a movie, snacks, etc. If he wants to try and stay up until midnight I will let him, but I doubt he will make it! Heck, I don’t know that B always makes it until midnight. A city near us has a fun Children’s New Years party (that ends at 9pm at which time the adult stuff starts), which might be something to try out as well! I think L would be all over watching fireworks and the fact that they do it at 9pm is all the better.

But what are you doing? Going out and getting all fancied up (if so what are you wearing)? Staying in and having people over or headed to a casual house party? Or staying in like a normal night? If you have kids, do you do anything special and / or let them stay up late?

Spread the love

A friend of mine is hosting a 1920’s themed party!

      That sound fun!!!

  2. NYE is our anniversary. We don’t have a sitter this year so we are taking the kids out to dinner or something I guess? We actually have 2 anniversaries. NYE is our legal anniversary and Jan 9 is our wedding day. If I had to pick one it would be our wedding day, but we are flying out the day before.

    1. Jennifer

I like that you got the legal ceremony in just before year-end!

Before kids, we would go out, now with kids we stay home. We will most likely get take out. We let the boys stay up to watch the ball drop at midnight, then it lights out. They can do it…..they are 12 and 9. It is me and the hubby that have a hard time staying awake. Most likely we will play some games and have a movie night with on of the movies that they got for Christmas.

      That sounds fun!!!

I guess we’re old fuddy duddys. Even though we don’t have kids, the days of bars and such are behind us. We either stay at home and celebrate just the two of us, have our godkids family over and maybe a neighbor or two, or we go to the godkids house which we are doing this year. Very casual (I may even wear my pajamas LOL) maybe 6-8 adults and 3-4 kids, pizza or some simple food, wine, champagne etc. No fancy dressing up.

That sounds like a good night to me!

I didn’t vote, because it changes every year. When I was younger, I would do something big one year, then something smaller the next. Usually bigger meant a group of friend hitting up clubs or bars. Smaller usually meant a laid back party at someone’s house. Since we’ve had a kid, we tend to stick close by. Two years ago, we had a housewarming New Years party. Last year we had a couple last minute guests come over. This year is probably our biggest one to date. We’re renting a houseboat (with a captain and everything) with 4 other friends. It’s on Lake Union (which is right in downtown Seattle), so we’ll have an awesome view of the fireworks from the Space Needle. Kaylee is staying overnight at Grandma and Grandad’s. I’m pretty excited about it!

      Ohhh, that sounds cool! Enjoy!

We used to go to our friends house every year for a really fun party with tons of food and booze, cards and games. Now we all have kids and no one wants to stay out late!

I should just have friends over as my house currently resembles Toys R Us from Christmas and Birthday parties! Might be fun!

    1. Jennifer

      LOL!!!!! So many toys!

    My kids don’t really handle a change to the bedtime routine thrown in there very well, so for a day like NYE, we keep things pretty routine for them around here. My husband is working a 12-hr day shift all day, so our evening will be lowkey. I’m thinking of getting he and I some takeout after the kids go to bed and just enjoying that, us two. If either of us sees midnight, I’ll be surprised! {I tend to wake up early enough in the morning that the NYE partiers will probably just be crawling home!}

    1. Jennifer

You must get up early! I am hoping to sleep in super late! LOL! I love the takeout idea!

We usually go out and see fireworks if no one is sick (seems like we always have someone sick on New Year’s Eve). So, usually we stay in and spend the night playing games.

    1. Jennifer

I know the feeling on always having someone sick!

  9. Jenny

We normally stay in. I like watching the NYE stuff on tv and I hate stupid drink people so I stay in and veg. Usually drink some champagne and stay up till midnight but I’m usually asleep by 12:15 LOL

    1. Jennifer

I’ll seriously be amazed if B makes it up until after midnight. When do you leave for Disney?

  10. Lorns

Before Lily we always went out and partied. We have done since Lily and she’s stayed with my parents but as I’m still recovering from surgery we’re just having a few friends over for drinks. We’ll put Lily to bed in our room and let her watch a DVD in there (she doesn’t have a tv in her room) so she doesn’t feel she’s missing out.

I don’t know what it is about sleeping in a parent’s bed, but my 5 year old thinks it’s amazing when I let him go watch a movie in there!

  11. Erica

It is my birthday! I’m getting all done up and going all out. For example, I made an appointment for false lashes at the Benefit Brow Bar about um…three weeks ago. So that’s happening.

    1. Jennifer

Ohhhh, that sounds fun! Happy (early) birthday and enjoy!

  12. Lauren

My dad got my husband and I tickets to a hockey game so that’s our plan for now, but a nasty cold has finally invaded the house so I’m hoping we’ll be healthy enough to go!

    1. Jennifer

      I hope you feel better!!!

  13. Janaya

the hubby and I don’t have any kids yet and I was deployed last year during most of the holidays so we will definitely be going out for New Year’s Eve!

    1. Jennifer

      Enjoy your night!!!!!

  14. Susan

Our neighbor usually has a casual get-together at their house, with games, appetizers, etc. The whole night is family friendly, but I’ll come back early with the baby to put her to bed, and my husband will hang out til midnight with the older two girls.

    1. Jennifer

It’s hard with babies who are used to their schedule!

  15. Alexia561

Hubby goes to bed at the usual time, but I stay up to watch the ball drop on TV, then have the traditional phone call with my parents. Then I go to bed. We’re fuddy-duddys.

    1. Jennifer

Ha! I suspect that I will be watching the ball drop alone!

  16. Berit

My brother/family and me with my family go to my parent’s house for a crazy tournament of Scrabble (cash prizes!) and then head downtown. There will be a parade, food booths, fireworks, etc. Then we stay the night and have a Happy New Year’s breakfast

    1. Jennifer

Ohh, I like Scrabble, but I am awful. I cannot spell at all! Where is your downtown? That sound fun!

  17. Bethany

We have a 6-month-old, so staying in it is!! But a bunch of family is coming over to play games. I want to request formal attire but have a feeling they won’t be as psyched about the idea as I am.

    1. Jennifer

LOL!!! That’s kind of a last minute request!

  18. nichole budnick

The downtown party is super fun for kids and I reccomend it.

    1. Jennifer

I saw that they have train rides and think we just might.

We’re going to a party at the kids museum from 4-7pm. Then we’re getting really good desserts from the dessert shop and having snacky stuff. My sister and family arrive today from the east coast, so the cousins will want to play play play. I bet we’ll be home by 9, and probably just watch a movie or something. Play board games.

    1. Jennifer

That sounds fun! I want to go with you!
