SundaySentiments

You know the drill, I am stealing Jen’s Sunday Sentiments button and idea and making it mine tonight!

~I’ll do a little weekend recap tomorrow, but we spent the morning at LegoFest and I highly recommend it if you have a Lego fan!  Totally worth it! The boys loved it and I appreciated that it wasn’t too crazy crowded!

The HULK!
The HULK!

~Believe it or not I did not get ONE thing from the Target 90% off Easter clearance. Not one thing. I came home from shopping yesterday morning and told B and he couldn’t even believe. I think he wanted to take me to the doctor to make sure I was okay. LOL!  Just nothing I “needed” this year.

~I did, however, hit up LUSH and picked up a few things. I grabbed the Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, the Sea Spray Hair Mist, the Whoosh Shower Jelly and the Ayesha Fresh Face Mask. So far I am loving the Sea Spray (OMG amazing) and the Ayesha Fresh Face Mask. I don’t love that you need to keep the face mask in the fridge, but I get that is what it’s all about. The Whoosh Shower Jelly is quite interesting. It’s basically a big glop of jelly that you use like a bar soap. I am kind of excited to use up some of my LUSH stuff so I can go back and get some new goodies to test out! It’s very dangerous that it’s so close to my house.

~If you aren’t subscribed to my newsletter yet, you might want to be. I have been slacking on sending it out but I am getting back on track. Expect one in your inbox tomorrow or Tuesday morning. And *maybe*, just maybe, you should open it because there could be a giveaway in there. Just saying.

~Someone mentioned “Fashion Project” in the comments the other day and then it popped up in my Facebook newsfeed so I figured out it was time to check out it.  It’s kind of like thredUP and Twice, except instead of selling your old stuff to them, you donate it and they give you a $40 Nordstrom gift card for every 5 qualifying items in return.  AND they donate 55% of the sale price to a charity of your choice which you get to take as a tax deduction.  This sounds fabulous!  I requested a bag and I will report back!

~I’m on this big kick to not only try and shop local more often, but also to shop in person instead of online.  It’s a lot easier to order from Nordstrom or Sephora or Bath & Body Works online, but I also would be SO SAD if they closed the ones near me because everyone else did what I did and just ordered online most of the time.  So I have decided that if I can go buy something in person, I will.  If not, I can get it online.  That said there are some stores I am dying to open up here.  Like The Container Store.  Why can’t Michigan have one?  UGH!  Are there any stores you wish you had closer to you?

That’s about it from here tonight! How was your weekend?

      1. Jennifer

I don’t know if it has been mentioned in giveaway ones recently? I haven’t sent out too many newsletters this winter. It’s been around probably a year.

        1. cindy

oh my goodness how did i miss that, only followed you since christnas time, not a mom but huge target fan and workin cjildrens dept at church

    2. Jennifer

Lego Fest was this weekend only at the Suburban Showplace in Novi. They only come once a year.

      1. cindy

and howd i miss that too lol

So glad you loved Lego fest. We did the Sunday morning session too and I definitely think that is the way to go.
We stopped in our Target today and got some more candy at 70% and got one 90% off item the outside hard to find egg kits. I’m going to take the candy out and save the eggs for next year.
Ok I really need to go to Lush more. Mine isn’t that close but I can get there. Now I want to go to Lush. 😉
I also try to shop in person but its so hard with kids sometimes. I’m also a fan of using the cashier at the grocery store. Unless I have just one item I always wait for a person. 🙂

I think that’s why I have been shopping online so much. L isn’t bad to shop with, but I am always afraid WB is going to steal something. He is so fast and sneaky! That and when he’s mad, he’s MAD and we need to leave. LOL!

Yes, go to LUSH! Let me know what you get!

  3. Jen

I live in Michigan also. Unfortunately I live in a small college town with only a walmart and Meijer. No Target at all :(. The nearest mall is over an hour away so I order online a lot. I miss mall shopping!

    1. Jennifer

Oh no!!! I am trying to figure out what city you are in! LOL!

      1. Jen

Big Rapids :). A University with no mall in sight! That’s got to be breaking some kind of shopper law!

        1. Jennifer

          Oh goodness!!!

  4. mirta

uhh I’d love it if trader joe came to canada.

    1. Jennifer

Ohh, I wouldn’t mind one near my house either. We have one, but it’s like 30 minutes away which is a bit of a pain.

  5. Nichole Van Bruggen

Oh i love lush! I have been meaning to go back. If you save the black pots and bottles they come in with there original stickers on them and bring in 5 when they are empty they will give you a free fresh face mask.

    1. Jennifer

Yes! I can’t wait to finish stuff up and bring them in!

  6. Elizabeth

I absolutely love the Container Store! We have three in MA which is so dangerous for me. Especially since one is next to Ben and Jerry’s and American Girl.

I ended up buying 90% Target (there’s a picture on my blog). One of our Target’s had a ton of egg decorating kits left.

    1. Jennifer

So jealous of the container store!!!!!!

  7. Rebecca

I pretty much wish every store was by me. I’d be happy if I could get to a Target within 20 minutes.

    1. Jennifer

I get nervous when I am more than like 10 minutes from the nearest Target!

  8. Jillian

What is the sea salt spray like? Hairspray or like a volumizing spray. I’ve always wanted to try it!

    1. Jennifer

I think it has hold, but I use it more as a volumizing spray. Plus it smells awesome.

  9. Kathy Heck

Oooo! The “fashion project” sounds interesting! Looking forward to your info about your experience with it!

    1. Jennifer

      I can’t wait either!

  10. Lauren

Just wait until Lush stocks their limited edition holiday stuff. You have not lived until you’ve smelled the Rose Jam body wash that is only available around Christmas. I am a die hard Lushie! I went to bar shampoo and haven’t looked back in years!!!

    1. Jennifer

The lather of the bar shampoo just blows my mind!

  11. Bethany

Oh how I miss having a Nordstrom nearby! The closest one where we are now is 40 min away (that’s far by my standards!), but thank goodness we’ll be moving soon. When I was working in DC pre-baby we had a Nordstrom Rack IN OUR BUILDING. It was very very dangerous. The store I miss the most, though, is Martin+Osa, which shut down a few years ago. Boo that. And yes, The Container Store is super addictive!! We had one in VA, of course–having every store nearby helped to balance out the agony of the traffic!

    1. Jennifer

That would have been SO dangerous! 40 minutes is far by my standards too. I like it all to be within like 10 minutes. LOL.

  12. Shawna

I live in Nashville, so we have just about everything – except IKEA! The closest ones are ATL or Cincy. When I visit my family in Toledo, I always hit the one in MI because it’s only about 45 miles away or so.

    1. Jennifer

I hated when we didn’t have an IKEA in MI! Before we got it, Chicago was the closest!

  13. Beth

You asked a super good question. Is it terrible that I’ve already been thinking about which shops (and places to eat!) I’d love our little town to have? I’d love a Target, a Michaels and a T.J. Maxx.

Heck, even though it’s 30 minutes away (or more in winter), I’d love it if the bigger town to the south of us would get a Trader Joe’s. That’s where I already drive to go to Target. It would be fun if there was a Michael’s, or T.J. Maxx there too, because they’ve got a better chance of getting those than we do.

And we need a good pizza place, stat!

    1. Jennifer

      30 minutes to Target! Ahhh!!!!

  14. Judy

Yes, every store in the universe. I live in rural Wisconsin, so the closest mall is over an hour away. lol. At least we have Target.

    1. Jennifer

      That is important!
