July 2014 Citrus Lane

I am always excited to see my Citrus Lane box and today’s July 2014 Citrus Lane box was no exception. The box that I received today was the 4 year-old box that I get (just a random age that I picked) and not WB’s (he’s 27 months) box. I don’t think his will be here for another few days.

If you aren’t familiar, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription box for babies from 0 to 5 years old which contains four or more products selected especially for the age and stage of your child. Citrus Lane  is $29/month, but they have a coupon code “TAKE20OFF” which lets you pick up your first box for $9! And if you order an annual subscription the price drops down to $19/month.  I always opt for the longer subscription with them because it’s a way better deal.

The Box

Citrus Lane ships via FedEx Smart Post and, as usual, took a week to arrive. This box shipped on the 10th, while WB’s actual box shipped on the 15th.  Not sure why some ship sooner than others, but they do.

First Look

I had seen assorted spoilers for this month’s box, but I didn’t know exactly what we’d be getting.  I am not sure what WB’s will contain either actually.  I was super happy when I opened the box to this though because I knew the boys would love it.

The Information Card

The July 2014 Citrus Lane box includes the following items to make your time out of the house this summer more enjoyable:

~Match Stacks from Tree Hopper Toys ($19.99): These are a tad old for WB (which makes sense because this isn’t the box for his age group), but I am going to use them as flashcards and to practice stacking now.  Then we’ll play memory face up (thank you for the suggestion Glenna) and when he’s ready he’ll flip them to make it a true memory game!  I am so glad I opted for the transportation ones because WB need some help in this area.  He constantly calls a “plane” a “boat”.  No matter how many times I tell him, show him pictures, etc. when he sees / hears a jet he points to it and yells “BOAT” (which comes out like butt so it’s even more entertaining)!

~John Deere Monster Tread from TOMY ($9.99): Love!  Trucks, tractors, construction vehicles, you name it and my boys like it.  Does anyone know if there were variations of these sent out?  Because I am going to need one for each boy, but I wouldn’t mind if they were different ones.

~Applesauce Pouch from GoGo Squeeze ($1): WB hates these, but L loves them.  I am not I am ever sure if I knew they came in grape?  Is that new?

~Pur~Protect SPF30 from Pur~Lisse ($16.50): Oh man, someone really wants me to fall in love with this don’t they?  It’s everywhere.  I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it either.  I am hoping not to get any more of it for a while, but they can send me all the Pur~Lisse lip balm they want because I do love that!

All totaled I came up with a value of $47.48 for the July 2014 Citrus Lane Box.  I think this is one of the most “valuable” Citrus Lane boxes I have received in a long time from CL!  And I think it’s awesome.  The tractor and the match stacks were worth the cost of the box for me (I buy like 12 months at a time so it’s $19/month) and the rest was just a bonus!

Did you get a Citrus Lane this month?  What age did you get and what came in your box?  If you are interested in subscribing, click here and use coupon code “TAKE20OFF” to save $20 off your first box!  That would make your first Citrus Lane box $9 which is incredible!!! Or you could use the code “BOXSHOP30” to get $15 off your first box and $15 in shop credits!  You will be enrolled in a monthly subscription (which you can always cancel if you are not happy), but it’s totally an amazing way to try them out!

I got basically the same box or a 44month old boy. I only age C up a little bit. I got the same tractor, the number match stack, a different brand of squeeze pouch which is odd. I wonder if they just tossed in different brands they had in stock either way C downed that already today. I actually put the stack and the tractor up for Christmas gifts. 🙂

    1. Jennifer

      Such a great box!

Where do you hide the Christmas gifts??

      1. Jenny

I store totes of stuff in guest room closet so I’ve been putting bigger stuff in there tucked in the corners. My boys so far aren’t big hunters and since there is always stuff in there they don’t pay it any attention. For smaller things I actually have one of the larger CL boxes on a shelf in my closet with some other shoe boxes that I will stash smaller stuff in. LOL They can see the box but just assume that its shoes I guess so they don’t mess with it. I will have to be more creative as they get older or as C gets older since N is pretty oblivious to that kindof stuff but C I think will be different. Its working for now.

When you were at Target today did you check the toy clearance? I was able to get some Imaginext for 70% and some Lego for 50% so I grabbed those. Still tons are at 30% so I’ll have to make some more trips later to see if I can grab some more. My Christmas is looking pretty good already.

        1. Jennifer

I didn’t really check too much. I went toy the lego aisle to see if there was anything there, but all the sale stuff was gone. I need to do some better hunting!

  2. Nicole

We started match games by doing only 4-6 pieces at a time. I love the face up idea as well!!

    1. Jennifer

I should start with 6 pieces and do them face up!

  3. kelly

We got the same tractor 🙂 My son also LOVES it! The only difference is we got a Plum Organics Pouch instead 🙂 This was our first box and my son was thrilled!!!

    1. Jennifer

      It was a great one!

  4. karma

I agree this is one of the best ones. It is our last month on our 6 month subscription. I had been really unhappy the last few months and was going to try a different company for a while but now I’m torn. My boy is 3 and got the same box except our food was the organics brand but still apple auce. So thoughts should I stay with them or venture out.?

    1. Jennifer

Well, I will tell you that if you go to cancel, you will get an offer to stick with them for the next three months for only $15/month……… That might sway you??

      1. karma

yes I saw that and I am considering it. in your opinion do any other ones stack up to citrus lime

        1. Jennifer

For $15/month I don’t know that anything else is going to stack up! Googaro is more, Austin Lloyd is fabulous, but it’s a lot more. And bluum is more too.

  5. Teena

My boys Love the John Deere trucks. They both received the same thing considering I receive a 5 and 3 year old box subscriptions.

    1. Jennifer

Did you get the same trucks in both?

      1. karma

my 3 year old got the Gator inoted of the tractor. which worked out great cuz its just like his grandpas

      2. Teena

No ones a tractor and the other one is a moster truck I think. I already trashed the boxes.

  6. Sarah

My son is almost 4 and I did pick the match stack, so maybe he will be getting the same thing?! He would love that tractor! We get ours Saturday and a baby one next week; which I’m hoping (according to others spoilers) that the Aden and Anais blankie or burp cloth is in there. And to the grape flavor-yeah, I have never seen that flavor either so maybe it is new. That’s the only brand/kind my son will still eat and I’m interested to see how the grape goes over with him!

    1. Jennifer

I actually think he will get the same! And wouldn’t you know it, I was at Target today and made it a point to check out the applesauce pouches. They had grape. I can’t believe we have never gotten them before!

  7. Susan

We got the box for a 29 mo old girl. We got a princess soft doll / puppet, animal match stacks, a plum organics pouch, and the purlisse lotion. My daughter loved the doll & stacks. We tried face up matching, but that didn’t go very well, but she loves them. She just likes carrying them around and trying to stack them up. I’m with you, someone really wants us to like that purlisse stuff. I think I’ve gotten like 3 in the last couple months.

    1. Jennifer

So much pur~lisse. I wish it was my most favorite project ever!

  8. Crstina

My son got the 21 month box. His box included a plan toys camera, a silicone placemat, a faucet extender (which I love and am happy we got), a Plum Organics pouch, and I got the Pur Lisse sunscreen too. I really liked this months box, our box had a value of about $52. That sunscreen is expensive!!
We got a placemat in last months Bluum box that he really liked, so I may trade the placemat, or save it for a gift.

    1. Jennifer

That is a great value! I hope my other box comes soon!

      1. Jennifer

We also received the box for the 21 month old boy and it was the same. This was my first Citrus Lane box. I was so glad I did not get the toy phone. The camera was a hit with my three year old girl as well.

  9. Jody

I think someone is punk’ing you. Seriously, I have never seen so much Pur~Lisse stuff go to one person. If you get more Revlon mascara, look for the hidden cameras!

    1. Jennifer

      It’s everywhere!!!!

  10. Ashley g

I got a different tractor, different match sticks and different flavor of pouch. Very pleased with this box especially since I only paid $7 when they had the July 4 th deal

    1. Ashley g

Oh also I have a 3 yr old girl box coming soon too

    2. Jennifer

Oh that is awesome for $7! I need to find another tractor now…

  11. Jesse

My box is for a three year old girl, and we received the July edition today. She got the zoo animal Match Stacks, a Dorothy Doll from North American Bear Company, Plum Organics’ Blueberry Mashup, and I received the Pure Lisse Lip Comfort. I wasn’t in love with the box and neither was my daughter. This is only our second month, but I’m kind of bummed to read several people’s comments that this is one of the best boxes they have received. We have two more months on our subscription, so maybe my tune will change next month. (It’s still super fun to get a box of surprises, though!)

    1. Jennifer

I do love that lip comfort from pur~lisse. I am jealous that you got it!

      1. Jesse

Agreed. The lip comfort is a great product. Maybe I’m being picky, but the Dorothy doll (Wizard of Oz) is wearing silver sparkly shoes. The Kansas in me does not understand why they didn’t put her in the infamous ruby slippers. Lol. She does have Toto with her, though, so that kind of makes up for it! 🙂

        1. Jennifer

Silver shoes! That’s not right! I wonder why they aren’t ruby slippers? So odd. Now I must find this out.

        2. Jill

Just received the same box for my 3-year-old daughter. Pretty sure she would have preferred the truck to the doll (she’s not into the doll thing). Doll seems kind of lame–supposedly a puppet, but just has a little elastic band on the back. And as you said, silver shoes!
Also got the pur-lisse lip stuff and like it! I think my favorite thing in the box is the add-on I got–Water Bugs. Had a $5 off coupon, so couldn’t resist!

  12. Michel

I received the 8 month old box for my grandson. Called the Summer travel box. It came with a travel mobile fold and go.A beginners spoon that has a truck in the middle that balances on the bowl or plate. A small bottle of sunblock, which seems to be in every box. Two packs of organic baby food. Just add breast milk, formula, or juice. Lastly a little blanky. I gave the box over to my daughter after I saw everything. She had never seen anything like it. Roman attached to the blanket and loves the model. He gives it an A.

This is the first box that ships monthly. Do you like any other boxes better in baby stage?

    1. Jennifer

I have heard good things about MommiesFirst! They specifically do boxes for babies under 12 months!

  13. Colleen

I got my box for our almost 7 month old. Everything seems too young for Ella. This is our third box and I’ve thought that each time. (The box arrived 3 days before she turned 7 months.) I went in and changed her birthday by 1 month.

I see you got a 4 year old box but said your sons will arrive in a couple days. Do you get multiple boxes? I didn’t look through your entire blog to figure it out yet.

Here’s the post to my box.

I’m disappointed this month. Last month I loved it.

  14. Cassi

I get 2 boxes-my 15 month old loves the match stacks that came in his big brothers box (big brother loves them too!)…my hubby even asked if we could order other ones! He just loves putting them in the tube and dumping them out…kept him entertained at a swim meet for quite some time!

    1. Jennifer

I like the way your husband thinks! Mixing two stacks could make for a game for older kids too!
