BOXWALLA Food Box August 2016 Subscription Box Review

Boxwalla Food Box ships bi-monthly via USPS. Boxwalla boxes are made in India from tree-free handmade paper. The boxes are made out of cotton scraps, using the traditional art of paper-making that involves nine steps and takes several weeks. The handmade paper is then meticulously fashioned into the boxes that the goodies get shipped in.

I actually received two of the same items in my box, but after reaching out to them the replacement was sent to me within days.

The August 2016 Boxwalla Food Box theme was “Summer Memories” and included the following items:

~Cream di Miele Hazelnut Honey Cream ($5): Hazelnut Honey Cream? What is this magic?  It’s a blend of Acacia honey and Organic roasted hazelnuts.  It’s just as good as you think it is and what makes it even better is the the little crunchy bits in here.  This is just as amazing on toast / bagels as it is on ice-cream.

~Catskill Provisions Ketchup ($7): This ketchup is sweetened with just a bit of honey. It doesn’t have any added sugar, corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup. It has a different taste (to me) than your run of the mill ketchup.  I feel like it takes a while to switch from regular old Heinz to “fancy” ketchup like this. It’s certainly good, just different.

~Lick My Spoon Razz Ma Tazz Chocolate Raspberry Jam ($13.50): Delicious!  It’s a blend of dark  Valrhona chocolate and fresh raspberries. It makes for such a decadent treat in the morning.  Even if you just put it on toast you’ll feel like you had dessert for breakfast.

~INNA shrub Triple Crown Blackberry ($15): This can be used for not only cocktails, but also for soda, salad dressings and to deglaze a pan. Shrub is also known as “drinking vinegar”. I am not a big drinker, so I am going to locate a great salad dressing recipe for this.

~Catskill Provisions Ancho Chile Cocktail Rimmer ($11.50): This labeled a cocktail rimmer, but it can also be used as a meat rub.  I would never have thought of that.  You can also make a quick dip with this by adding it to sour cream.  Genius.  At first, I thought when will I ever have an Ancho Chile cocktail?  But now I am looking forward to using this on the grill and for a holiday dip!
