SundaySentiments

As usual, I am stealing Jen’s Sunday Sentiments button and idea and making it mine tonight. I “know” Jen, and she knows I do it, so it’s not exactly stealing. But then again, it’s not a link up either ;).

~We’ve been up-north since yesterday morning and listen, something happens when we get up here that makes me lose all sense of times, dates, normal world responsibilities, etc. We weren’t even a here a few hours yesterday and I couldn’t remember when we’d arrived, what day it was, nothing. I don’t even know if it’s good or bad, but it’s certainly different.

~WB slept like CRAP up here last night. I swear he screamed for half the night. It reminded me of the first night of the cruise. It was that bad. He was a miserable little dude. Fingers crossed for a better night tonight. I’m putting him in his own room tonight, so hopefully that helps. That Starbucks I had tonight totally helped me out. I was dragging!

~B has his first race in ages tomorrow – the Mackinac (pronounced Mack-in-naw) Bridge Run that he had to “win” a lottery to even be able to participate in. The only bad thing is that is starts SO early. We drove up for the pre-race dinner tonight (I cannot pass up a spaghetti dinner) and probably should have stayed the night, but rooms up there around the holidays require like 2-3 night stays and we didn’t need that! I have not been that far north in years. Years and years. I think I mentioned it before, but when we were younger we used to do the annual Labor Day bridge walk. That happens after the run and hopefully one year we’ll be able to do it with L and WB. And then I can tell them all about their mom used to do that when she was a little girl. I am certain they will love that ;).

~OMG I am SO excited for Breaking Bad tonight. I haven’t watched it “live” in ages and since we have cable up here, I can tonight! I do not want this show to end. Ever. I never knew I could love a bunch of meth makers so much.

~I finished Orange is the New Black (the book) and Heart of the Matter (an Emily Giffin book) in the past few days and I loved them both. I already have requests for them in our FB book club / swap group and am excited to pass them along (mailing books is like $2). And if you haven’t joined yet, you should! Most people are just passing along their books to the next person for free and then requesting books from others so it’s all working out well. I *think* I’m going to read Taylor Armstrongs’ book next (from RHOBH), which I got from the book group. I need to request another. I’m on a roll.

~I want to do something fun / special for L’s first day of school. B has school himself so he won’t be around so it will just be me and the little boys. Any ideas? Frozen yogurt after school? A little gift bag of goodies? Did you do anything special? I don’t want to go all Pinterest crazy, but want to do something because I do think it’s a big deal.

Can you send me the link for the book swap FB group? I can’t find it.

Hmm Did I do anything for N that first day? I don’t think so oh wait we ordered pizza LOL which is always high on his list. 😉 He doesn’t get home until 4 so its almost too late to do much of anything but he has big plans for when he tracks out at the end of the month. I’m not sure he really gets that C is only gone for a few hours a week. I think he thinks we will drop him off and he’ll have me all day everyday. He’s in for a surprise.

I’m leaving on a cruise today with my 10 month old – how old was WB when he went and screamed? My EM sleeps 10-12 hrs a night, pretty much since she was 2 months old never wakes up (she still has no teeth so obviously haven’t encountered the bad teething sleep yet lol) – hoping she’ll do the same on the cruise!

My friend’s mother made/bought a “first day of school” cake every year for each of her children from kindergarten until college. Some years she had one made others she made and they all said Happy First Day of School, the flavors varied year by year and some were decorated with little plastic school supply cake decoration or sometimes icing flowers or cookies & they had it for dessert after dinner. I was always so jealous my mother never made a cake for my first day of school. But this year said friend’s son started Pre-K and she started the First Day of School cake tradition with him.

Your cake tradition totally made me tear up. What a sweet thing to know is coming each year. Just the sheer thought that her mom made it a celebration. What a wonderful thing to pass along!

      Cheers,
